Summary: A cartoon movie like batman
Review: I watched this movie in a airplane, on a small LCD monitor, and I think that is enough for it. I don't understand why this movie can cause such an hype at all. The graphics is not that great compared with movies like Starwars, and the story is very shalow, nothing more than a comic strip like the batman. I think this movie did not live up to its hype.

Summary: My Spide-Sense is tingiling
Review: This is truly a increduble movie! I loved it! Sam Rami has never directed a blockbuster before but his first is magic!
The movie starts off with Peter Parker{Tobey Maguire} on a school fiels trip where he gets bitten by a radioactive spider. He gettes some strang powers. He is in love with the girl next door Mary Jane Watson{Kirsten Dunst}so to impress her he saves his money to buy a nice car to impress her. So he takes his new found powers to the wresling ring. He wins $500.00 but the guy at the ring cheats him to only $100.00. When the guy gets robbed Peter lets him go to get the guy back which is a mistake!
The crook goes on to kill Uncle Ben.{Cliff Robertson}Peter gets revenge. This drives him to become Spider-Man! He moves out of his house then with Aunt May(Rosemary Harris}and moves into an apartment with his best friend Harry Osbourne.{James Franco} Harry's father Norman Osbourne{Willam Dafoe} is conducting super soldier expiraments. When he is put into an expirement he becomes insane. He is now the Green Goblin! Spider-Man must save New York from this new menace! Can he do it? You'll have to watch to find out! I look very foward to Spider-Man2.

Summary: Spider-Man delivers!
Review: After all the hype surrounding this movie, there was plenty of room for disappointment ... but there was none. Spider-Man truly delivered all the action, excitement, and special effects that the hype promised. Maguire was a fantastic and surprisingly studly Spider-Man. Dafoe was born to play villains so no complaints there either. I am not even a fan of the comic book or the cartoon but thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Although the action and themes were perhaps a bit intense for a young audience, at least it wasn't overly gory. That's a huge plus in my book. No gratuitous anything in this movie which is always tempting for blockbuster-makers. The door is wide open for a sequel, but unlike Batman, I think this franchise has potential. However, this first one is a must-see regardless. Pure entertainment!

Summary: GREAT FILM
Review: Anyone notice that Thanksgiving appears twice and appears to be in the wrong order? The balloon sequence (Macy's Thanksgiving day parade)....then later they have Thanksgiving lunch with Aunt May and the Osbornes... This seems wrong... I noticed this after seeing the film 10 times.

Summary: Why cast Kirsten Dunst?
Review: In the comic spiderman is supposed to be this dorky guy who is obsessed with the outer-worldly gorgeous redhead Mary Jane. Then in the movie they decide to go with a bigger name and completely ignore the character.Mary Jane is not the girl next door.

Summary: Best comic-book movie ever.
Review: ...Spider-Man is a much better movie than any of Batman, Superman or X-men. This movie actually makes you care for its characters, something which was largely missing in those other three movies. Sometimes, the movie is so emotionally involving that it's almost as if it ISN'T a comic-book movie. This movie isn't about some grand world statement between good and evil, like in X-men. It isn't about show-off villians hamming it up, like in the Batman series. And it isn't even necessarily about making you believe a superhero can swing or fly, like in Superman. It's about the man behind the mask, the awkward Peter Parker, played perfectly by Tobey McGuire. His director, Sam Raimi, also deserves some applause for playing this movie so straight. It's so sincere and genuine, it's almost as if Capra directed it. CGI and chorographed action sequences eventually age and look lame after some time, but good character development and emotional involvement is timeless. Which is what makes this the best comic-book movie ever.

Summary: Spidey review
Review: The year's supposed Blockbuster hit "Spider-man" was neither high-ranking nor low-ranking on my list.

I personally loved movies based on comic characters and honestly, seeing "Spider-man" gave me that 50/50 feeling of whether I liked it or not.

Tobey Maguire was a perfect fit for the role of Peter Parker/Spiderman. And so was Willem Dafoe and that other dark-haired fella. Even the lady who portrayed Parker's...aunt was it?...she even gave one hell of a performance. Which character gave a rather ::blech:: performance? Kirsten Dunst, that's who.

The lady who portrayed the character of Mary-Jane was nothing but a mere "the-film-could-have-done-better-without-her" role. With the occassional screams and shrieks all topped off with the cheesy way of saying, "I love you Peter Parker" in the end...I'm sorry, was I suppose to be touched at this part? Maybe if Ms. Dunst tried not to TRY so hard at acting, maybe then she'll be a formidable lady to portray Mary-Jane.

As far as the actions were concerned. It's good, but I've seen better. Don't get me wrong; it was very well done, it's just that...seemed like I've seen one specific move near the end of the movie in the middle of the movie...get it? It seemed like the actions were played in a loop, causing me to lose that "edge-of-my-seat" awe of what was being shown in the big screen.

So for those who doesn't really care much for the actual content of the movie and is just there to see SPIDEY fly...I'm sure you'll enjoy this movie...but for those seeking theatrical works and amazing ingenuity...look for it somewhere else.

Summary: Where's the half star??
Review: One geeky guy with a love interest to another girl, gets superpower. Another guy, gets superpower ,becomes the first guys' archenemy. They fought. Good guy wins. End of story. Oh yeah, what story again? What alternate reality did this Spiderman movie is based from again?

Spider-Man is "suppose" to be the best superhero movie of the past 20 years. But watching Spiderman at the theater is like watching a movie out of the "The 10 worst movie superhero sequel of all time". Being a fan of Spiderman (from comics to saturday morning cartoons), watching this movie is like watching "Batman & Robin" movie (and you thought that movie was bad already). Spiderman/Peter Parker is suppose to be smart, funny, sensitive and caring. The whole potrayal didn't even get close (or maybe just bad acting). The way he talked to his uncle at the museum is totally out of character. The movie went too fast, JJJameson and Robertson maybe had about 3-4 minutes of screen time, and these characters are vital parts of Spiderman. You never really get to know the characters and never really have the time to humanize them. And the special effects? There is nothing special about it. Not even close to the industry standard at the present, I wish some other studio made this movie (or director). It feels like you are in a studio yourself watching the night scenes, everything is so boxy looking, no realism at all. There was a scene that the shadow of a building is going the opposite way the shadow of MaryJane against the same reference sun (lighting issue?).

The whole movie is just a set-up for the sequel(s). It's only the first movie but it is already going south substancewise(did somebody say "Batman 3"?). This movie is nothing but hype, music videos, Spiderman fans(count me in), and/or for the lack of good movie competition.
