Review: Anyone who can't enjoy this movie for the good-time party that it is, is just too uptight. Granted, it helped that I was only 14 when it came out, but my friends and I would watch this thing anytime it was on HBO (which was quite a lot), and yes I had the soundtrack double-LP as well. If nothing else it just represents the feeling of being young and not having to worry about the seriousness of life yet. I cannot wait to get the DVD when it comes out, and please, somebody release the soundtrack on CD please!

Summary: Brings Back Wonderful Nostalgic Memories
Review: I just recently watched The Pirate Movie again after many years and I loved it, brought back many nostalgic memories of watching this movie with my family in the 80's, I laughed so hard and really had a lot of fun and I notice all the funny jokes that went right over my head when I was younger, and I see others have commented about that too. I really liked Kristy McNichol as Mabel, Chistopher Atkins as Frederic and Ted Hamilton as the Pirate King and I hope that soon that the movie and video company finally realizes that this wonderful gem of a movie should be put on DVD and hopefully with a lot of extras and goodies like deleted scenes, trailers, etc, and I also hope they rerelease the soundtrack on CD and audio cassette (especially CD) as I listened to my old 33 two record set so many times that both records are all scratched and skip.

Summary: So bad it's good....
Review: I was not one of those people who grew up with this movie; it was my wife who introduced me to this not-so-subtle remake of Pirates of Penzance. Lame humor, sight gags, and blatant movie references that don't reference popular cinema as much as outright steal them from movies like Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Yet you may wonder, why three of five stars? Not because I am a Star Trek fan, but because what you need to realize is that this movie is harmless summer fluff, and to enjoy it one must not analyze it too deeply. It also helps if you have a seriously zany sense of humor. I actually laughed at all the humor, sight gags, and blatant movie references, so help me. (Or was that "cringed?")

Review: I've heard they are releasing Pirate Movie on dvd in Mid 2005.One could hope for extra's but it's nice to know it will be on dvd.Because the damn VCR ate up my copy of the film.

Summary: I Love, Love, Love This Movie!
Review: It is so nice to know that I'm not the only person who loves the Pirate Movie starring Kristy McNichol and Christopher Atkins! I know the critics totally trashed this movie in their reviews, but I thought it was such a nice, cute funny, movie, I loved the tounge-in-cheek humor of it which I guess some people just didn't get, and I loved the admittedly corny but cute bouncy peppy and catchy songs and the beautiful scenes of the Australian coast and reefs and caves. Kristy McNichol was adorable in this movie, her character Mabel was so sweet and innocent! I first watched this movie when I was a teenager and I watched it with my niece and nephew and they loved it too and we watched it each time it was shown on HBO. I will most definitely be adding this movie to my video collection and I hope to get a DVD player someday and would love to have this movie on DVD more so then a video tape.

Review: Please please, release a DVD region 1. We have almost worn out our VHS version. When we want a light piece of entertainment, this is it, along with Little Shop of Horrors and Rocky Horror Picture Show, we escape into the world of pirates, mischief, and sexual inuendo that are woven together in this fun flic. My lady also really needs a CD soundtrack. I am sorry that I cannot subscribe to the cinema snobs that enjoy bashing a movie because it is not "deep and socially relevent". Sometimes you just have to submerge yourself in silliness. Laughing, smiling, no more crying....give me a happy ending every time.

Review: The Pirate Movie has been one of my favorite movies since I was 5 years old. It ranks right up there with Grease. I had it on a video tape that was recorded from the tv and after years of watching it started to fall apart. A few years ago I looked it up in an ordering book from the video store where my aunt worked and got it on VHS. I was so excited to finally have a cover for the tape. Needless to say, after years of play and getting stuck in my vcr I need a replacement! It's time for it to be released on dvd!
