Summary: Best Program
Review: I cannot believe people still say that FrontPage is only for beginners and those without experience in Web design. I run a large informational Web site and it was created entirely using FrontPage. The problem does not lie in the program, the problem in using it lies in the individual.

If you want to spend [more money] for DreamWeaver 4 go ahead, but for designers like me, the power AND ease of use of FrontPage go far beyond any product that I have seen. Dreamweaver takes twice as long to do what I need it do while FrontPage only takes a shorter amount of time. If you don't agree with me visit my Web site that was created entirely using Microsoft FrontPage...

Summary: Buyer beware--NO support from MS
Review: While Frontpage 2002 is a fine upgrade, buyer beware! When I tried to use no-fee web based e-mail support to ask a simple question about FP 2002's functionality, I was met with the message, "You do not qualify for free support." MS tells me they have changed their policy. Only in American can you buy a product for nearly... and NOT get support. Argh!

Summary: Still the best for serious Intranet and Extranet development
Review: This is not a major upgrade of the Frontpage series, but alot of nice bug fixes that make this upgrade worth getting.

Frontpage really shines in the corporate Intranet and Extranet development realms but at the same time offers features that allow home users to get professional looking results with a minimal amount of effort.

Both FrontPage and DreamWeaver are both fine products, but it's FrontPage that comes out way ahead with serious web development. Coding Active Server Pages (ASP), JavaScript, VBScript or XML? This is the development tool you want.

Summary: A necessary upgrade to the second best web design tool.
Review: I have used FrontPage since it first came out and have a love/hate relation with it. It made design easy but writes bad, incompatible code. FP2000 fixed a lot of this but the user interface was redesigned and is now terrible. FP2002 fixes the things they got wrong in the earlier versions and is now what is should have been already. I will definately upgrade, since the site management capabilities are great and there are new features definitely worth having. But as far as what is best, I give Dreamweaver top ratings. The suite of tools from Macromedia (Dreamweaver, UltraDev, Fireworks, Flash, and Freehand) is superb and can't be beat.

Summary: What a disaster
Review: MS *STILL* hasn't fixed the basic flaws in FrontPage. It still can't handle frames correctly, and it's still horrible to manage web pages the way you want, instead of the way Microsoft wants you to.

This program becomes totally useless if you're not posting to a FrontPage enabled website (most sites are not). It's graphics optimization tools are not up to par with other packages, and the source HTML it outputs is horribly unmanageable.

Don't waste your time with this box. Go buy DreamWeaver or some other easier to use, more mature package.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Nice but not a great upgrade
Review: Having tested other HTML editors (Macromedia, Adobe, NetObjects and Microsoft), I think that Frontpage is not the best anymore. This has some few new features and a facelift but that's all. If you are really serious creating web sites the best choice is Macromedia DreamWeaver 4.0, there is no product like that and if you want to create dynamic database driven web sites, Macromedia Ultradev 4.0 is simply the best.

MS FrontPage is good if you want to create some informational web sites and that's it, but if you want to create something more powerful with interactivity then get the Macromedia product, you will not regret.

Summary: Want to move up in your career? Learn FrontPage.
Review: A business teacher of mine recently hypothesized that Microsoft FrontPage will soon be required business software, just as Microsoft PowerPoint became required business software in the 90's. I couldn't agree more.

With FrontPage, 'creating web sites' has moved from some complex 'techie' thing to becoming a straightforward 'business' thing. And FrontPage 2002 makes things even easier than previous versions.

Think about how PowerPoint made overhead presentations something that anybody could do. Remember how everything used to be presented with overhead transparency slides on bulky projectors? People used to hire other people to create and print transparencies late at night.

Now, everything is presented using Powerpoint, and you can create that presentation yourself. (If you have worked in a corporation in the last few years, you know how ubiquitous PowerPoint has become)

Similarly, web sites are currently farmed out to 'experts' that can speak in code and who must be relied upon for those last minute web site changes. But soon, web sites will be the responsibility of the average corporate employee.

So, do you want to get a head start on your colleagues?

If so, get this easy-to-use program and learn how it works so that when your next job application says "FrontPage required" you'll be able to check that requirement off.

Summary: Frontpage Adds New Features
Review: I've been trying out the Frontpage 2002 beta for a month. I was impressed with some new image features. Making it easier to post images, and work with the resolution all in the Frontpage program itself, saves time. Newer wizards with DAP (data access pages) allow you to make useful internet, or intranet sites. Granted Dreamweaver is a great program, Microsoft has come out with a worthwhile upgrade, or new investment.

Summary: Excelent Web Designing tool for everyone

New FrontPage 2002 will definately change the way we see web site, as with this powerful software one can design site with dynamic contents like news headlines or weather forecasts, with the help of automatic Web content from Microsoft MSNĀ®, MSNBC, Expedia, and bCentral. Even if you are new to any web designing tool, take my word for Microsoft FrontPage 2002. The software is easier then Microsoft Word and very powerful too.

FrontPage 2002 has 34 new features then earlier version 2000. To name a few like PowerPoint type Drawing tool,Automatic Web Content,Discussion Board, Dynamic Online Serveys, CSS formating, and Web components like Photo Gallery, Link Bars, Top 10 Lists, List Views from SharePoint Team Services, Save to Database, and Automatic Web Content like headlines, stock ticker, and maps., Inline Frames via HTML 4-based support,Single Page Publishing, Background Publishing,Document Library, and above all you can add e-commerce functionality to your site with this version. With FrontPage 2002 you can design dynamic web site without knowing 'P' of 'Programming' till E-commerce level!!!!!!! As always like all other Microsoft Product, FrontPage 2002 is for 90 percent peoples' 95 percent requirement....

Rating: 5 stars
