Summary: Works for me!
Review: My IS Manager recommended this product, said that we us it on every computer in our facility (about 300 computers) and it is a great program. And I would have to concur. It cleaned up viruses that I never even knew were there. I did use McCafee but did not seem to work. You can't go wrong with PC-Cillin.

Summary: Keeps My Computer In Good Shape
Review: My laptop came with a prior version of PC-cillin and I'm very glad it did, since it introduced me to a great product. Having tried Norton products on my old desktop and McAfee products at my work computer, I can say that PC-cillin is by far the easiest program to use and in my case, the most reliable.
It scans every email that comes my way and has found viruses and deleted them. It scans my computer at set intervals and overall keeps me feeling safer than any other antivirus product I have used. Even the manufacturer's (TrendMicro) website is helpful and easy to use to keep updated on computer security.
I highly recommend this product because it is effective, it has never wrecked havoc with my Microsoft programs (as I've read other programs have), and it is easy (I know I keep stressing this point, but it's important to me as a quite-competent-but-not-expert PC person). It also has timely patches that keep my virus protection up to date. I'm very pleased with PC-cillin.

Summary: Good antivirus, but web blocking is poor
Review: One reason I decided to buy Trend is because PC-cillin 2002 contains a web filter. The filter is there and it works, but the user must enter each site he wants blocked individually, so it's pretty much useless as a product to keep kids from visiting off-limits sites, unless you have a huge list of URLs and want to type them all in and keep maintaining them.

The virus scanner is probably the best PC virus product on the market today. I would highly recommend it over Symantec or McAfee, but if you want a web filter, check out CyberSitter or Net Nanny.

Summary: Works but messes up my email
Review: The product works pretty good at preventing infections but has problems. I never had a problem with viruses while I was using it, but it changed my email POP3 settings every time my computer was turned on, preventing me from getting email. The only way I could get email was to go in and manually change the settings back, a real chore. PC-cillin support was no help with preventing the need for this. When I stopped using PC-cillin I changed to another anti-virus program and it is able to protect me without messing up my email settings. The support staff told me to download the "international" version, which seemed to cause me all kinds of problems. It went downhill from there with just one problem after another until I gave up and decided to switch to another vendor. PC-cillin was very hard to remove from my computer. It's one of those products that even when you "uninstall" leaves stuff on your computer that interferes with a clean new install. I had to get support to help me and they were reluctant to help me and it seemed to be followed up with a virus attack.

Summary: Being tortured by McAfee or Norton?
Review: Then switch to PC-cillen! It works like a dream! I'm running it on my new Dell Desktop and have had absolutely no problems whatsoever since installing it several weeks ago. McAfee demolished my desktop so I promptly removed their software from my new Dell desktop when it arrived. Thank you Sony for including PC-cillen on my Vaio notebook -- otherwise I never would've known about it! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!

Summary: excellent
Review: This is an excellent product. Doesn't eat up system resources like NAV, plus it has a firewall and spam protection. The BugBear virus disabled my NAV.

The only negative comment I have is that there was confusing input re: security level on the personal firewall. I have a wireless network (with DSL) at home with my pc acting as the server. The initial guidance I had from tech support was that I could set my security level on HIGH. When I questioned this I received a revised response of MEDIUM, within 24 hours.

Summary: Best of breed
Review: What can I say? If you don't get a virus, it's working. It has a small memory footprint, and it appears not to have degraded my system's performance, unlike other leading products that I've tried and dismissed.

But the best thing that I can say for PC-cillin is that a colleague had downloaded some vb source code from a reputable web site known for having very good code samples. His leading brand antivirus software quarantined the downloaded file as being virus infected. He sent the file to me and PC-cillin gave me no indication that there was a virus present. I opened the file which was only the vb source code.
