Summary: After installing made a complete mess of my Sony Software.
Review: This software in not a measureable improvement on their Basic Roxio 5.
After installing Roxio 6, I experienced so many problems with my installed software that I had no choice but to abandon the Roxio 6. To those out there who have Sony software installed, DO NOT ATTEMPT the installation of Roxio 6.
Reading their incompatible guide at their Web site, I'm amazed that Roxio will run in tandem with any comparable software.
I award one star, 'cause the system will not allow a lower rating.

Summary: Doesn't install
Review: I have had this product for months now, and I cannot install it on my computer. Roxio "support" has been no help. There is an upgrade available at their website, but it hasn't done anything to help me install this product. I'd love to hear from other's who have had this problem!!!

Summary: I switched to Nero...it is so much better
Review: I foolishly bought the upgrade for Roxio. I've used Roxio for several months and it is just a collection of programs that do not fit well together. I finally switched to Nero. It is the only way to go.

Summary: beta site
Review: Being an engineer, I can only believe that software engineers must run Roxio. The product is always being "upgraded" which means, where I work, fixed for a poor early release, and or the engineers want to keep playing with it. I should have known when I saw the 1 inch thick Manual that came with Creator Platinum, that I was in for a long difficult ride! If you have patience and a masters in I.T. you probably will enjoy being Roxio's Beta site and using the product. If not you will be totally frustrated. I have gotten it to work fairly well, but always come to a dead end that can't be answered in the manual. Trying to get assistance is virtually impossible. You can e mail the tech folks, but be ready for days of unanswered questions, then back and forth for weeks, when all that was needed was a short phone call. Oh yes, you can get phone assistance but you'll spend a lot ...more then the software costs. For my money its easier to use Nero.
Oh yes, if you only have a dial up connection, you'll spend many hours on line trying to download updates that might not solve anything. I expect that version 7 isn't much different.
Good luck.

Summary: Things to consider
Review: Before purchasing Easy CD & DVD Creator 6, I came to this section of Amazon to read what other people had to say about it. I read some horror stories about the installation and use of Easy CD & DVD Creator 6. Still, I rolled my dice and decided to give it a try anyways.

After installing, updating, and using the program, I concluded one more time what I always suspect when I read the words of folks with a sour taste in their mouth.

I seriously suspect that these folks' computers run on an Operating System ~usually a version of Windows~ that has been trashed by installing and wrongly un-installing tons of software many of which were possible written by "I don't care" minded developers. Most likely, their computers never receive a proper and periodic maintenance.

As it may well be expected, these folks installed Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 in their flaky and unstable computers and run into lots of problems. Their ignorance in this matter lead them to blame the program as the source of their problems.

I am the opposite kind of computer user. I do not install software unless it comes from a serious and responsible developer. I do not install software just for the sake of downloading something. I perform a good and solid maintenance every day at the end of a computer sesion.

I installed Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 without one single problem. The program immediately let me know that there was an update which I downloaded and installed flawlessly. I registered it in a cinch. I restarted my computer, and begun using Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 right away. Boy . . . was I impressed !

There is a clear overall improvement over the Version 5 Platinum. All the modules or areas do what they are supposed to do, and they do it very well. I congratulated myself for purchasing it. I can do with this new version all I need to do, and I do it happyly without a sour taste in my mouth.

Of course, I learned a long time ago the importance of good and solid maintenance that I periodically perform not only with my car but also with my computer. I also learned to ask myself "Who wrote this program" before I download a new software that may likely corrupt and make my Windows XP unstable.

Should my words make sense to you, then trust me if I tell you that Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 is a very good piece of software, and at under U$S 30.00 including S&H at Amazon is a heck of a good deal.

But do not fail to ask yourself "What is the condition of my Operating System ?". The answer will determine the taste in your mouth.

Summary: When Good Software Goes Bad
Review: I have been using Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum successfully for quite some time. I tend to go for updates of a product when I'm happy it. So, I ordered Easy CD Creator CD & DVD Creator 6 Platinum at an excellent price from Amazon.

Big mistake! I find that it is unstable -- sometimes working, other times freezing my system (Microsoft XP Home). The worst thing about it, however, is that it refuses to read CD-RW disks that were written with Creator 5 and read absolutely FINE with Creator 5. That was the last straw!

I do have something positive to say about the Easy CD Creator CD & DVD 6 Platinum. It uninstalls well. Now excuse me while I get back to using my reliable, if not as capable, Creator 5.
