Summary: Congratulations Roxio!
Review: I'd like to congratulate Roxio and the Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.0....For being the one and only software app that crashed my system running Windows XP!....And I've been running XP for over 2 years! Even after 2 updates from their website, and a COMPLETE driver overhaul, I still had to reach for the reset button. Stick to Nero 5.5 or better yet, if you're just burning audio CDs, get Feurio! (also from Ahead software) It's the best and less than half the cost.

Summary: Don't waste you money
Review: I bought this against the advice of several reviews on this site. It will make a nice looking DVD but it is very limited in my opinion.
1) Won't allow you to combine video clips
2) Won't allow you to rename the video clips that you capture. You can only do that in windows explorer.
3) Any audio that you attach is limited to just a few seconds
4) If you need any help with anything other than installation problems, you have to pay for it from day one.
5)When you edit a clip, you can't keep what you cut out, it automatically discards it.
It's OK, but not worth the $ I paid for it. I am going to find a real DVD capture and edit program and get rid of this.

Summary: Worst software yet!
Review: I bought this software to update my sytem from the Roxio CD/DVD creator 5 Basic that came with my new computer. Worst mistake ever! This thing has so many bugs and glitches that if they had a patch for everyone they should call this Raggedy Andy! System freezes, error messages, etc. None of this has anything to do with reading or not reading directions, it is fairly easy to understand and use...it just doesn't work!!! I am getting my $$$ back and going back to the basic for now or buying a new program altogether......

Summary: Almost Perfect
Review: Don't listen to the others who gave this a one star. I too was initially confused by it. Once I actually took the time to sit down and read through the very boring instructional booklet, I found it to be very user friendly. I will be the first to admit that if you are going from an older version to this new version, YOU WILL BE CONFUSED IF YOU DO NOT READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. READ THE BOOK, GENIUS!Roxio Software Developers-please update the next version to allow you to print the library or a songlist. Thanks.

Summary: Don't waste your money on this
Review: I used many, many different software packages, but from hundreds this is by far worse.
It doesn't do anything it promises on the box, it's not intuitive at all, and everything you expect to do automaticaly does totaly wrong.
All the menues are on the weird places, scatered, and options and you never know what you are supposed to do next.
It has ZERO help, and it doesn't even react if you tell it too burn let's say 5 Gb's of staff.
There is almost no warnings at all, and when you ask it to checks anything,most of the times just hangs, so that you have to
reset machine, task manager can't stop it...
It also locked my cd player, so I had to disconnect CD, restart machine, shutdown and connect it again...
And to sumerise - it doesn't work.
Plus the upgrade is so expensive, don't be mad to buy this.
For the same money you can buy buy some other product,
which actually works.
It's maybe good marketing, and promises a lot,
but this product doesn't deserve even one star...
If this was a freeware, it would NOT be worth downloading...

Summary: Very User Friendly
Review: I've own every version of Easy CD Creator, but this has to be the best. I'm running this on Windows XP Pro, and no problems. I don't know what all the other people are gripping about. All the problems they are experiencing are user errors, or they are just rookies. Three of my other buddies have Roxio 6 on their computers and they too don't have any problems. The Classic Creator is more eye appealing, and the Audio Central is really cool because you can download all your old LPs and remove all the hiss and scratching noise from the song. Photo Suite is a good tool too. I use it to enhance my old photos and create an online album. All you need is spend time with the software and learn about it. It can be very rewarding. Don't buy it at full price. You can get it cheap when it goes on sale. Now stop all the complaining!!!

Summary: What they don't tell you...
Review: I have used roxio's toast program in my college classes. This product is pitiful in compairson. I burned my first CD-R on it and took it to a friends house to view the stuff on it. Upon putting it into the CD drive it autoinstalled somehting called the roxio viewer on the system. This viewer is frequentely the cause of problems (as I subsequentely found out). It rewrote something in the BIOS and is causing problems with the whole system. In addition it rewrote part of the CD-Driver...adn now it will not work at all. The only possible fix is to re-install teh drivers from my operation system disk....which is impossible with out a working CD Drive. And this may not even fix the problem...

Summary: One of the worst software products ever made
Review: This is up there with the legendary WinFax V9 as one of the worst software products ever made. The main problem: this horrible product corrupts at the drop of a hat. You will find yourself uninstalling and re-installing this software - a long and tedious process - every single time you want to burn one CD. RUN as fast as can from this product. I'd rather hand transcribe data - and go back to making music cassettes - than use this irritating mess.

Summary: I wouldn't buy this software again.
Review: There are too many kinks in this program to work out. The layout is great, but execution is poorly done. As soon as this was installed on my computer, it crashed. We had to wipe the entire drive because of this. I haven't tested the DVD builder, but as for creating VCDs, it makes it difficult. There were so many problems with this software, that I can't even START going into it. For more information on these problems, though, go to www.roxio.com and read their their online support FAQs. Too bad I didn't think of doing that before I bought the software.

Summary: SVCD Audio sync is off
Review: I brought this software for my PC to make SVCD. The problem I have is with the syncing between the audio and video. It makes people in the video look like they are in an old foreign flick. The mouths are moving at a different rate than the sound. Plus, I find that the SVCD format works differently on different DVD players. One other thing is that the transitions do not layer the sound either. I have other software that does a great job producing VCD's, and I do not have these problems. For creating audio CD's and copying CD's, the software is great. I do not have a DVD burner so I have not tested the DVD burning portion of the software. This is my recommendation: For audio CD's and copying CD's, buy this software. For making SVCD's, the quality is not there. Recommendation to ROXIO: Concentrate on the main features of your software before worrying about menus, transitions, and such. The time that it takes to import, layout a video, encode, and burn it to disk is too long of a process to discover that the finished work stinks due to using a bad tool. Update to the above comments (2 months later):
I finally bought a DVD burner. It came with MYDVD. MYDVD did a poor job. So, I tried to use this software again. The transition still do not work like they should. But other than that, the software did very well job at creating a basic family movie DVD. The menus did not seem to be very customizable outside of the templates that are provided. But, they did a good job. I created 12 movie clips and a picture movie. This required 3 sets of menus. I put my own sound track to the menus and picture movie. Plus, it allowed me to store the jpegs of the pictures on the DVD. Ease of use: I give this product 3 stars. Bugs in the transition and like of customizable menus puts it down to 2 stars. Cost of ownership and duel use: I give it 4 stars. Therefore, I give this product for DVD use 4 stars. 5 (CD audio creation) + 1 (VCD creation) + 3 ( DVD creation) / 3 = 3 stars
