Summary: "Easy" CD Creator has been a nightmare for me!
Review: I was excited about the projects I could turn out with Easy CD Creator 5 - Platinum!!! Now, I am more than disappointed! I have wasted over 100 hours and at least 10 CDs trying to use "photorelay" (a feature in the program) to create photo albums on CDs which are supposed to run atuomatically when the CD is placed in the CD-Rom.
At first I was happy with how the program worked - it was easy ... until I tried to view the completed albums on the CDs. The maddening part is the program would make one CD correctly then not make another correctly over the next several attempts...I am more than disappointed...

Summary: Had hopes for it but................
Review: Well, to make a long story short I purchased Nero and then had a hard time getting everything installed without crashing my system. I had to reformat three times as I attempted to complete the entire disk contents to my hard drive. In frustration I removed it and purchased the Roxio Cd Creator 5 Platinum. Installation was a breeze and everything was going along well until I tried to do a disk copy of a copyrighted cd. The scan process would not go past track 9, where, it would just continue to scan and scan and scan. Originally, I wanted a program that would burn pictures from my digital camera to cd so I could send the family the latest. The process that is involved to get the pictures to cd with Roxio Cd Creator is confusing and complicated for a non computer person like me. With these two problems at hand I decided to give Nero 5 another chance. By NOT installing packet writing and easy reader, installation was a breeze. Making cd copies is no problem and doing cd pictures is as easy as one could hope for. I must admit that my abilities to do this succesfully were a result of exploration of the two programs. I am sure that for many, Roxio Cd Creator 5 Platinum is a fine program , but, for me I am going to stick with Nero 5. It's faster, easier, and very versital. That's it for now. Good Luck whatever you choose. -ED

Summary: Be wary if you have Windows ME
Review: I purchased this program because I wanted to burn VCD disks and I had the old Easy-CD 3. Unfortunately it seems to dislike Windows ME. The software would not install and I was unable to load any patches because they said "no recognized version exists". I worked with tech support and they finally said I had to re-install my OS.

I wiped my hard drive and re-installed Windows ME fresh and still had the same problem. So I guess I'll just wait until I upgrade to XP and hopefully it will work.

I gave it 2 stars based on the original version 3 I had and the assumption that it would be pretty good if I could get it installed...

Summary: Save your money
Review: I used this mainly for dropping/dragging data files to back them up. It worked fine for a while, but after a while when I tried to format a new CD-RW, it got hung up in the verification process in an infitine loop and wouldn't even let me shut it down without rebooting the computer. The installation disk has a "repair" option, which I used several times successfully, but eventually even that didn't work. This is the first time I've ever seen a "repair" option on an installation disk, and now regard that as a very red flag that the software has some major problems. Try something else before trying either the Basic or the Platinum versions, as I had the same trouble with both of them.

Summary: Windows Xp fix
Review: There is a software fix for this program to make it more compatible for XP. It corrected similar problems as rusty-2's that I had with Easy CD Creator Basic and I assume it would work with the Platinum Version. The Basic Version that came with my computer is very handy and I am considering the upgrade. My rating is for the basic version.

Summary: Forget Using Version 5 for LPs and Tapes
Review: The Platinum 5 version adds "repeats" that did not exist in the original recording. It takes 3 minutes to record a song, and an hour to remove the short "repeats" the software adds. It sounds like the LP skipped backwards only it didn't. After following every instruction from the first, what looked like a canned response, from customer service there was no improvement. It has been a week and I have not heard from customer service, I'm assuming there is no fix, meaning the software was released with this bug.

Summary: Awesome product
Review: I don't usually write reviews but after using this product and reading the bad reviews, I felt it was unfair to Roxio. It was with great anxiety I bought this product because of it's price and other peoples problems with it. I downloaded the demo but the demo didn't include the features I was most interested in so I took a chance and paid for the upgrade to Platinum.

I can honestly say it's the best 90 bucks I've ever spent on software. It does everything as advertised flawlessly. I own Nero and Photosuite and Duckware and they are all a pain.

You can cut your own CD's with anything you want on them without the agravation and limitations of other software. I just spent the last two hours creating slideshows with music of our vacations that I can give to people that were with us as gifts. It has everything!

Perhaps the bad reviewers were using outdated versions or perhaps their own systems are buggy but it works great on mine. My system specs are WinXP Home on P4 2.0 512ram, DirectX 8.1 and GF4 4600 video.

Summary: A lot of features. Very nice. The same as version 4.2.
Review: This version has a lot of features but most of them are exactly the same as version 4.2. It is not worth the price. Buy the older version or wait until version 6 (if there is a 6)

Summary: This Program Just Plain Sucks
Review: I have spent so much frustrating and wasted time trying to get this program to work and am so upset that I am going to be brief...I only gave it a 1 cause I could not give it a -5. DO NOT BUY THIS SOFTWARE. Run as fast as you can away from it and buy something, anything else. Nothing works correctly... Pay no attention to the box reviews...Stay away from this terrible product.
