Rating: Summary: Don't Trust Your Data To This Software Review: The Take Two backup software included in this package is a joke and caused my to lose seven years worth of my business data. That's because -- as I learned from Roxio's technical support after the fact -- Take Two will only restore to the original hard drive. I recently wanted to install a new hard drive on my PC. I wanted to make sure my data was safe, so I decided to back everything up to CD-ROM before I started the process. I put all my data on 88 CD-ROM disks, installed my new hard drive and nothing worked.I called Roxio's tech support and that's when I found out that data can only be restored to the original disk. Forget that that little fact is not mentioned in the manual. Forget that the product packaging says that by using Take Two, "If your system ever crashes, you can simply restore your entire system or individual files." Unfortunately, that's just not true. As one of the prime reasons for backing up a hard drive is to make sure your data is safe if the hard drive fails, I am at a loss to explain why anyone would want to use Take Two. You can religiously back up your data every day if you want but if your hard drive fails, your Take Two backups are useless. Everyone I talked to at Roxio was apologetic about the loss of my data but none could explain why the company markets a backup product that cannot restore to anything but the original disk drive. Take Two is a useless product and does not do what Roxio claims it does. Stay away from it.
Rating: Summary: Despite What Roxio Says, It Does Not Work On Win2K Review: I have tried loading this software on 2 different Win2K machines, one with a clean install. Both machines failed to load the software. After numerous calls, patches, Registry edits, and different CDs sent to me, Roxio throws in the towel and tells me there is nothing else that they can do except refund the purchase price (minus the shipping costs). Don't waste time with this product if you use Windows 2000.
Rating: Summary: This product [stinks] Review: I thought it might be a good idea to upgrade from Easy CD Creator Version 3.0 that came with my HP CDwriter Plus 8100. WRONG! I have spent hours trying to get this Platinum piece of garbage software to work. I thought that the earlier version was slow - but at least I could get it to work. Now I have tried to uninstall the Platinum version and re-install the original version that I had - but it doesn't work either. Not only have I kissed $... goodbye - but I don't have a functioning CDRW now! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT !
Rating: Summary: Easy CD Creator Doesn't Work Review: I purchased Easy CD Creator 5. My CDRW worked with 4, actually it came with it, so I thought I'd be safe in buying 5. Well, to make a long story short. 3 hours on the phone with Roxio tech support and 5 more hours reinstalling my OS and applications and Easy CD Creator 5 just doesn't work. I have a common Plextor 12/10/32a drive. I recommend you look at Nero, a demo is available. It worked on the first try. I have written 5 cds so far and it has worked flawlessly. It supports burn proof technology and so does my CDRW so I can do other things on my computer while burning a CDR.
Rating: Summary: Can crash your Win98 system, too Review: I'm sure you've read about the problems with Windows 2000, but I'm still using Win98 and have had the same problems -- blue-screens and worse. It's taken me ~12 hours to undo the problems this software has caused on my system. Everything worked fine until I tried to use the "Take Two" hard drive backup software....I figured it would be a good idea to back up my system. If only I'd known that the backup software would CAUSE exactly the problems I'd been trying to safeguard my system against... My CD-burner came with the basic version of this software-- I was upgrading simply to get the "Take Two" module. If you go to the roxio site, now they're telling people to not even install this module when installing Easy CD Creator. If you can't use Take Two, why get the software? My advice: stay miles away from this software! Whether you're using 98 or 2000, you may have nasty, nasty problems. Has the class-action lawsuit started yet? I've never been more disappointed with a software package for the way it's trashed my system.
Rating: Summary: Good Review Review: I think this program deserves at least 4 stars, but i noticed it only has 2.5 in your advertisement,so i gave it 5 stars to bring up the average.Very easy to use,a great interface that jumps right out at you,and lots of help.couldn't be happier with it.
Rating: Summary: IT SUCKS Review: FIRST I HAVE CREATOR 4. IT WAS AND STILL IS SOLD AS "JUST LIKE YOUR ZIP DRIVE BUT BIGGER AND FASTER". WRONG!!. WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO MAKE A DATA CD WITH DIFFERENT FILES AND NOT BE ABLE TO UPDATE OR CHANGE THE FILES? I FOUND OUT AFTER BUYING IT THAT IT IS A "READ ONLY THING" WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT??????????IT CAN ONLY BE READ AND NOT CHANGED. WHAT KIND OF CRAP IS THAT. I HAVE TO ERASE THE WHOLE CD EITHER DATA OR AUDIO TO CHANGE ADD OR DELETE THE DISK. IT IS NOT FOR ANYONE WANTING TO USE IT AS A BACK UP AT ALL. WHY HAVE A REWRITE AT ALL??? THE PRICE OF A R IS CHEAP SO YOU CAN JUST BUY AND MAKE A NEW ONE EACH TIME YOUR INFORMATION CHANGES (WHICH YOU HAVE TO DO ANYHOW)INFORMATION CHANGES BUT NOT YOUR CD. THIS PROGRAM SUCKS.
Rating: Summary: It's not THAT bad folks! Review: I thought the program definitely met my needs. Made a video CD of pictures I had with lovely music and unique fade away features. Have created music CD's from downloaded MP3 files...and that was my 11 year old doing that! So hard, I don't think so. I use Windows 98...maybe some of the newer versions mess it up. One problem I had was after I hit save on a video CD, I could not bring it up to edit it. Anyone know how?
Rating: Summary: Does exactly what I want... Review: My main purpose in buying this progam was to convert very old LP's and tapes to WAV format for burning onto CD's or MP3 format for keeping on my hard drive. It did this very well. The only problem was having to use 4X instead of 8X, but that may be my computer's problem rather than this program.
Rating: Summary: Does Not Support Faster Recorders! Review: I bought 5.0 Platinum a week ago from Amazon.com and couldn't wait to install since I've used version 4.0 before which worked great. I recently bought a Sony CRX168b 16X speed which came with a burning software that didn't have the jewel case labeling capability. This software (BLIP Gold) worked great with the burner. To my dismay Adaptec 5.0 Platinum does not recognize my recorder even after downloading the update version 5.02a. I called Roxio and waited for 30 minutes but couldn't get anyone but the answering system so I hung up. I e-mailed Roxio and they promptly responded but their prepackaged solutions didn't work either. I then wrote them back and again they responded with a different prepackaged solution which I'm not even going to bother to try. Based on what I've read here so far Roxio doesn't know how to fix the problem and are sending their customers on a wild goose chase. Why don't they just admit that their software has compatibility conflict with just about anything manufactured in 2000. They should pull this product out and reconfigure it so that it's compatible with the latest technology available. It's a shame that customers like me are spending valuable time trying to debug a problem that Roxio should be fixing. All they simply have to do is program another update and test it to make sure it works before they make it available to everyone. ...
