Rating: Summary: AWFUL Review: PLEASE, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. ALL OF THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS LEFT BY MANY PEOPLE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT ARE COMPLETELY TRUE. SYSTEM CRASHES, BUGS, TERRIBLE TECH. SUPPORT AND EVEN THE INTERFACE IS NOT EVEN STYLISH. THIS PRODUCT IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY, CD-R'S /CD-RW'S AND MOST IMPORTANT ... TIME.IF THERE WAS A 0 STAR, I WOULD SUBMIT IT WITH COMPLETE HAPPINESS.
Rating: Summary: Great interface, but incompatibility problems Review: Take Two and Direct CD are two programs included with Easy CD Creator. Take Two backs up your hard drive and Direct CD lets you drag files right onto a CD. Sounds good? Well - they don't work in Windows 2000. And if you install them, thinking one day you might get around to using them, well don't. They'll screw up your system. I'm not just saying that either. After days of frustration because my computer wouldn't boot right up, I found on Roxio's Web site that they recommend NOT installing those two programs because they don't work right on Win2K and will cause hang-ups on boot (in some cases up to 2 hours). They are "legacy" applications that work better with Win95 or 98. If you have an NT based system (like Win2K and XP) you'd best not waste your time. So do a custom installation and uncheck those two programs. You don't need them anyway. Another tip, if you are upgrading from another CD burning software package, best uninstall it first and reboot your computer then install Roxio. Don't want any trace of a competitor's drivers or things might not work properly after the installation. OK tip number 3 and that it... If you have Windows Media Player 7 installed, make sure that the Roxio CD burning plug-in is NOT installed. It also causes problems. Microsoft and Roxio are pointing the finger back and forth trying to figure out who is to blame, but who cares. Just remove it from WMP7 if you are upgrading to EZCD 5 Platinum. So after all that, I'm still giving a 3 star rating. The installation difficulties by themselves warrant a -50* rating, but the CD & Data burning applications are top notch which is why I bought it in the first place. I'd give it 5 *'s if it weren't for the funky installation and useless add-on programs. They have really improved the interface (looks very Mac OSXish) over version 3 & 4. It really is easy to use (even my husband can burn a CD!) and I applaud Roxio/Adaptec for that. But they got carried away with the rest of the applications which hurts their stellar rating... until next time.
Rating: Summary: Easy CD Creator 5.0 Platinum Review: Talking about shooting your self in the foot. This cd program is one of the worst on the market. 1.) Compatibility issues are not addressed so a large number of cd-writers are not supported. 2.) The program crashes often and you get cd under-burn errors 1 out of 4 times (you lose a lot of cds) 3.) ...4.) DVD drives are not recognized by this program cause errors on the drive even when not using the program. So if you want to waste your money buy this program,
Rating: Summary: Oh sure, it's wonderful....once you can get it to work Review: I recently bought a CD-R drive and the Easy CD Creator software and it was so frustrating how long it took me to get this software to work. I had to un-install and re-install so many times before I could actually get it to work. It would give me messages such as "Not enough room on CD" or "No Software found." But when it actually does work, it works really well. Except for having to reinstall it everytime you want to use it.
Rating: Summary: Lots of problems installing in XP & 2000 Review: Don't waste your money. This product in not ready for XP or windows 2000. Have tried several times to get this program to work even after down loading updates. Nothing but crashes!!!!
Rating: Summary: Worthless Review: Wouldn't even recognize my HP burner.Messed up WinXP so bad I had to reformat.A worm virus is safer than this garbage.
Rating: Summary: Just as I expected! Review: This software is excellent, I don't know why there are so many complaints out there about this product, must be people not following instructions correctly or something. I just purchased it to replace my old Easy CD Creator 4 basic that originally came with my CD burner last year. This new version is awesome. It also works flawlessly in every aspect of the program. I would recommend it to anyone, and would not own any other CD burning program. Easy CD Creator is just that, Easy and it is loaded with wonderful features. Happy Burning!
Rating: Summary: Bugs, Bugs, Bugs! Review: When I first considered purchasing Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum, my decision was difficult. A great number of people have written reviews expressing their frustration with this software. Conversely, an equally large number of people have also written reviews to say that this is an exceptional piece of software. Since I had a relatively good experience with Easy CD Creator 4, the predecessor to this version, I gambled by proceeding with my purchase despite the negative reviews. In other words, I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. Unfortunately, I was destined to be quite disappointed. First of all, from installation onward, this has been the buggiest piece of software that I have ever had the displeasure of using. Somehow, it managed to freeze my brand new computer while restarting right after I installed it -- an accomplishment that none of my other programs have been able to match thus far. Also, while burning my first CD, the software spit out the CD and reported an "unknown error" during my first two attempts. On my third attempt, a "buffer under run error" occurred, despite the fact that I have a 1.3Ghz processor, which should be more than enough power needed to operate a CD-RW drive. On the fourth attempt, another "unknown error." Finally, on the fifth attempt, I was able to burn the CD. To me, that is absolutely unacceptable. This software has more bugs than most beta software that I've tried. It seems almost as if it reports an error for every task that I try to complete. Roxio should have pulled this software off the market with all of the complaints that they seem to be getting. Don't let the supposed "awards" fool you -- this is not award-winning software. Simply stated, it's junk with fancy graphics and a steep price tag. I concur with all of the negative reviews and I strongly caution potential buyers of this software to consider whether or not they want to waste a ridiculous amount of money just to see if the software works for them. I may not be able to speak for everyone, but I do want to say that it doesn't work for me.
Rating: Summary: No Support Review: I recently bought a cd writer, acer, and it came with 4.x software. When I upgraded to windows xp, I found out that they did not, or no longer, supported it, and wanted me to purchase, for 99 dollars, their platinum version, which was the only way I could use it. I already had that product, and found it hard, and very combersom to use, plus, it didn't work real well with xp, even after the updates. Could not rewrite to a cd rw. Tried Nero, and it worked fine. Wanted to try to nti, but ran out of trial time... never did get a chance to try it. Recommendation, DON'T waste your money!!!
Rating: Summary: Platinum? More like tin. Review: I'm running Windows XP and was required to upgrade my CD burning software. So I take the plunge and purchase this software. What a mistake. Despite my downloading the patches for XP, the program would not work. In fact, it constantly crashed. I should have read the reviews first. I don't seem to be alone in my disappointed with this product. What really gets me is I cannot get a refund. Once one opens the package, that's it! You are stuck with it as Amazon will only replace it if it's faulty. The bottom line is it doesn't work. Personally I would avoid this software like the plague if you are running XP. Platinum...no Tin.
