Rating: Summary: Garbage with a slick interface - Update Review: I upgraded to Windows 2000 Pro and bought a new, faster CD-burner and thought that I might give Roxio another chance. Bad idea. Even after applying the latest patch (which entirely removed one of the "features" of the software that some of these "reviewers" have raved about... turns out that Roxio has pulled the plug on it...they have admitted that it doesnt work!), this product continues to hang. I then installed the "lite" version of Nero which came bundled with my new burner. Surprise! No problems. Like I said in my earlier review, I've got freeware that works better than this Roxio garbage. And I am convinced that a lot of these so-called reviewers that are posting flowery praises for this product are bogus. (Dec. 2002) I have freeware that works better than Roxio EZ CD Creator Platinum... and I paid [money] plus tax and shipping for it. How embarrassing! This software has NEVER worked properly. And yes I am running all the current patches, and yes I can read and follow directions thank you. In fact, I have followed their directions to fully uninstall the product (including editing out the registry keys written by the Roxio install), and reinstalled everything. It is supposed to work on NT, but guess what folks? When you actually get through to Roxio support they will tell you "Oh, we meant it works on NT workstation, NOT NT server! We don't support it on NT Server." For those of you who truly have had no problems with it, congratulations! Wanna buy my copy... cheap? (Feb 2002)
Rating: Summary: Even fails to make coasters Review: I was very happy with 3.0, and decided to get the upgrade. After installing this stuff, my machine (W2K) no longer recognized its CD-ROM drive, and when I tried to run the software, it gave me cryptic error messages. So I uninstalled it, to no effect.Even my support guy from work is mystified (Adaptec/Roxio support, on their part, seems determined to be unhelpful: "Oh, just reboot it again.") So steer clear of this one so you don't end up like me: no backups & no CD-ROM. UPDATE: I was able to recover visibility of my CD drive, by deleting the keys "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} & rebooting. Hope this helps.
Rating: Summary: Easy CD Destroyer 5.0 Rust Review: I am one of those idiots who buy software first and then read the reviews. This time, it hit me right in the eye. Easy CD Creator 5.0 "Platinum" (what else?) turned out to be a nightmare. After wasting nearly $100, two hours, three blank CD-Rs, I did the right thing and sat down to read the reviews. I concur with all those who rate this software with one star and can't understand those who recommend it. I think Amazon should add a "0 star" rating for occasions such as this. My advise: stay away from this sofware and don't even think of trying it on your Windows XP PC. Now it remains to be seen if Amazon will refund my money, if not my exasperation.
Rating: Summary: Not That Good Review: This DVD Player should read DVD from zone 1 to 6, but it really cannot. I tried it with a DVD from France, and it won't work.
Rating: Summary: Not Compatible with Win XP Review: This product does not recognize a cd-rw disk and ejects the cd tray. The Roxio Support Website is useless. Roxio updates do not correct the problem. I would not recommend this product to XP users.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: After trying the Easy Cd Creator 5.0 plus Windows XP patch and an upgrade on two computers, I removed it from both computers. Performance was slow and very unreliable for my purposes. ... After removing and trying to reload, I was confronted with loading problems. All I can say is NOT RECOMMENDED!
Rating: Summary: The best software out there, what a joke! Review: I bought this software because I had heard all sorts of great things from computer tech people and friends. There is one major problem, if you have any type of Adaptec software on you computer it will not load. After spending two hours on the phone with one of Roxio's tech support guys, deleting files, renaming files, and attempting to load the software, nothing came of it. Then the guy from support said he would call back after consulting with others, and he did not. I also attempted to get help from Hp and they would not help. In other words if you own a computer with bundled software you cannot load Easy CD Creator 5.0 Platinum, even if you meet the system requirements.
Rating: Summary: Maybe im the Monority!?!?!? Review: I really do like this software... Im running Windows ME and have no problems at all.. I had nero 5 and it had problems... so i gave EZCD 5 Platinum and it worked alot faster. Its kinda a system hog, but not bad. I really like it. Its NEVER gave me a useless CD so far, knock on wood. Nice.
Rating: Summary: CRASH & Burn Review: Very poor product. Custome service not much better. Don't even think about using it on Window XP. Buffer underrun errors constantly. I switched to Nero 5.5. and have not had any problems so far.
Rating: Summary: Good product, good support Review: I was concerned about upgrading from ECDC4 to version 5 after reading the negative reviews posted here. However, it seemed to be the software that would meet my needs, and the number of positive reviews outweighed the negative, so I ordered it. The installation went smoothly, and I was able to use it immediately to record from LP to WAV files. When I tried to write to the CD burner though, I hit a snag. Although I could play a CD, the software would not recognize a blank CD in the burner. I visited the Roxio website and found that users can get assistance over the phone, by email, by browsing the website, or by reading the archived messages from other users. It took some time, but I finally found the fix on-line. In addition to leaving an email for technical assistance, I downloaded the patch to allow the software to recognize the CD burner. The email message the following day gave me the same advice. The patch was easy to install and fixed the problem immediately. After installing ECDC4, which came with the CD burner, I was telling people how easy it was to install and use. The same goes for version 5. Even though I ran into a problem, the ease and speed with which it was resolved was impressive. My PC is using Windows98 operating system (which I have no intention of upgrading). I also have the software on a PC running WindowsME. There has been some discussion about Windows XP problems. There is a patch which is downloadable from the website and the warning about WXP is all over the packaging and documentation.
