Summary: Do Not Attempt this Product with Windows XP
Review: I loaded this software and both the patches that Roxio claims work with XP, and the first CD I burned could only be read on another CD writer, even after I finished the CD. It then crashed my whole system. I had to re-install my entire operating system. This product is dangerous if you are an XP user.

Summary: XP issues? What XP issues?
Review: I purchased Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum specifically to use on Windows XP. I only purchased the software AFTER (being a responsible consumer) reading about the compatability issues that it was having with XP. Then of course I went to the source, Roxio, and read the information they had posted about the issues. Now I, like most, have had experience with some earlier Roxio and even earlier Adaptec cd burning software, and overall found it easy to use and very flexible. The newest version (once PROPERLY patched) is no exception. Indeed I look forward to the mentioned update concerning the softwares' photo and video capability. In a nut shell this software works fine with XP... of course the ability to read and follow simple instructions when downloading the required patches is helpful, but I'm sure if need be the folks at Roxio could walk even the most bumbling of XP users through it. O.K. so the humility to admit that you may need help and the where-with-all to dial a phone is, for a last resort, the least what you may need. My advice, if you could read all of this....then Easy CD Creator is an excellent buy (...)!!!

Summary: The Worst Software Ever
Review: ... Words cannot describe how bad this is. I see a lot of folks have noted major issues with Windows XP. But I have had all the same problems and more with Windows 2000: system crashes, slow performance, incomplete shutdowns. And no, you don't even need to be using the program to experience these issues. Installing it alone will do the damage. On top of that, the interface and logic of the program are poorly thought out (I only know this have been able to use previous versions of this, to an extent.) In compiling a CD project, if the program fails to read one disc (which it does often), the whole project must be scrapped. This program goes beyond useless and is actually a threat to the health of any operating system. People keep buying it because the basic version comes bundled with many systems, the packaging is slick, and it continues to be given prominent shelf space in retail stores, and prominent promotion on the web. Do not be fooled. This is poison.

Summary: Research hard before you waste your hard earned dollars!
Review: My issue with the software is when you burn from a cd to MP3, it
creates a permanent digital background. Even if you attempt to convert it back to wav or a higher quality mp3 it retains the noise! This is the function that I paid...for! What a waste of money! Research hard before you waste your hard earned dollars!

After paying...for the software the first time I have an issue I got this response!!! It took 4 days to get this message! Save your money DO NOT BUY ROXIO PRODUCTS...

Summary: DON'T Buy If You Have XP
Review: I've been using previous versions of EZ CD and they have been good but version 5.X is simply a waste of money if your OS is XP. On initial install, I follow the instructions on installing the XP drivers (version b then) after installing the software itself. The first write seems to work fine until I found out afterward that more than half the files on the newly created CD CANNOT be read, ON ANY COMPUTER. I downloaded the another update (d as of Feb 26) and that made it worse. Now not so EZ CD just simply stop responding when a blank CDR(W) is inserted. So far, I have not seen a review from this web site or others (CNET for example) with a user claiming that this software works on XP. Roxio released one sorry product and claiming that it works for XP. It may work for previous MS OS (though I heard 2000 and ME have problems too) but avoid wasting your money if your OS is XP. Read other reviews for yourself. Since it didn't work, I would have given it a zero star if I could but that wasn't an option.

Summary: Just plain bad!
Review: This was one of the worst products i have ever seen. the basic cd creater came with my computer and since it was limited, i decided to buy the upgrade, which is this one, the platnum edition. it screwed up my computer! not at all compatable with windows xp! first is lagged up my computer when i wasn't even using it. it made it impossible for me to access the internet when not using it as well. just having it installed on my computer was horrible! my computer wouldn't turn off. i'd tell it to shut down and it would just restart every time. i realized that it was the roxio program that was the problem when i uninstalled it. also while i was tryingt i burn mix CD's many different errors would occur and it would never work. due to this i wasted at least 4 CD-R's. this is a very poor product. i do not at all recommend it!

Summary: Coasters, anyone?
Review: This software came preloaded with my new computer, so I didn't really have a choice. I originally dumped this software because it just wasn't hands-on enough for me. So, I got Nero Burning ROM 5.5, which worked great, to say the very least. After I decided that Nero had a lot of features that I would never use anyway, I decided to switch back to Roxio after I discovered the "Disc-At-Once" feature. It burned a couple of CD's flawlessly (three I burned with Nero, and two of them unfortunately became coasters with WMP and Acoustica). But just today, after a rough day at school, I come home, wanting to burn a CD. Needless to say, things went wrong from the start. The first attempt produced a useless coaster, the second produced that same CD, but with a bunch of clicks and pops (I checked the original MP3 files - there were no errors). So, sensing that I couldn't win this battle, I decided to burn another CD, which produced yet another coaster. I'm convinced that this is a problem with the software itself, as I didn't see these same bugs last week. Anyway, for everyone's benefit, I'd suggest to STAY AWAY from this collection of bugs and useless doodads that Roxio likes to call software. For newbies, I'd suggest Click N Burn Pro, while advanced users should look toward Nero. Whatever you choose, don't choose this.
