Rating: Summary: The Worst Software Buy I Ever Made Review: Roxio should be ashamed of themselves for daring to state that this product is Windows compatible. From the moment you install this item, there are non-stop problems with it... despite the compatablility patch that Roxio cautions its customers in advance to place onto their computers. After a frustrating day of trying to get this unstable product to work, I finally uninstalled it, only to find further instablility problems and new problems with running my CD burner. It seems that even Microsoft is aware of this uninstall problem and has a page on it in their help section ...To add insult to injury, this product didn't even do what it's advertised as being able to do. For example, we are told in their advertisements that the CD Creator will allow you to "add professional-sounding transitions between songs with effects like fade-in, fade-out, and crossfade." What they don't tell you is that the flexibility on these "fades" is very limited. Should you want to fade out of a song and bump immediately into a new one... forget it. Or, should you want to simply overlap two songs without any fades... forget about that as well. The program wasn't designed with these very simple ideas in mind. All in all you'd be better off buying a different product.
Rating: Summary: Easy CD Creator is a Great Program Review: I was hesitant to purchase this program because some viewers had mentioned difficulty with the installation. I have Windows 98 and the installation went perfectly. I made a Father's Day slide show for the computer and a CD that plays in my DVD player within a few hours. It is user friendly and all the features worked flawlessly. I love the program.
Rating: Summary: MAKE SURE YOU PURCHASE THE NEWER 5.1 VERSION Review: Since there are a lot of heartaches involving Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum and its Windows XP non-compatibility, I want to make sure that everyone will choose the right product. So heed my warning first: THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THIS EASY CD CREATOR 5 PLATINUM, and on the outside they both look almost identical to each other, with a few minor differences. Somehow, there are older versions of Easy CD Creator 5 still sitting out there on store shelves, and they are the ones that have been giving Windows XP users a lot of problems! Then there are the re-released 5.1 upgraded versions which has a blue-coloured top corner that says "Enhance your Windows XP burning experience" and does not list Take Two on the box as one of the products, and it doesn't require those cumbersome update patches. At first I was confused regarding their almost-identical packaging, which is just plain stupid. Why on earth the re-released package still bear the same name as its older counterpart? Have they lost their common sense? Thank goodness I did a lot of research before buying the right version, but it took me a while before I found this out. Now I've installed it on my Windows XP without any problems, and producing mp3 or wav files have never been quicker and easier. Anyhow make sure that you go over to Roxio's website first to check on any potential hardware incompatibilities. Please do this first! Afterward I guarantee it will install on Windows XP just fine.
Rating: Summary: What a pile of ... Review: After buying into they hype of this being an improvement of version 4.0 I bought version 5.0 platnium. What a waste of money. They couldn't pay me enough to use this software. When I tried to access the support, they told me that they were working on a patch, but in the last 6 months no patch has ever become available. If you can find other software, use it. Roxio laid an egg with this one.
Rating: Summary: Lots of Problems with Windows 2000 and XP Review: We had several machines with Windows 2000 and Windows XP with EASY CD Creator 5.0. Only about 20% did not have problems. We installed every patch and upgrade Roxio recommended. Bought all types of approved CDR media. All the CDR/CDRW drives were fully approved and popular brands. Once we moved to other CDR burning software , the problems went away. Many of the problems included stability problems, un-reliable CD recording, and general crashing. Removed Roxio products all the problems are gone.
Rating: Summary: regarding rebate offer Review: purchased product, but never recieved my rebate check,it's been 90 days or 13 weeks! what happened ????
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your money Review: If you enjoy a program that is incompatable with a lot of major hardware, system crashes and continually says "OOPS, I can't do it", then order now. Or get yourself a copy of Nero or Clonecd and quit wasting time trying to figure out if it is you, your machine or the software.
Rating: Summary: Roxio update limits usability Review: When I first purchased Easy CD Creator 5, I loved it. Coping data, music CDs was easy. Then I checked the Roxio update page and downloaded an update which eleminated several of the functions. In my opinion this update should be avoided. Appearently CD Creator has a problem with the larger HDs available now. I have a 40 Gig HD and had no problem until the update was downloaded. I am looking for new software for my burner.
Rating: Summary: Windows XP, and the latest Easy CD Creator 5.1 Review: Some of you might be familiar with my reviews. I'm as honest as possible...here goes. I purchased Easy CD Creator with great apprehension. I have a Sony Vaio Digital Studio Tower (1.3Ghz, RDRAM, etc)...and it originally shipped with Windows ME with Easy CD Creator 4. Honestly, I loved it. It worked well, was quick and easy to use, and never gave me a problem. I upgraded (yes, upgraded) from Windows ME to Windows XP Home. Not quite pleased or at all satisfied with the internal burning capabilities/interface, I purchased Easy CD Creator 5. NOTE that I have the latest which is actually version 5.1. It says on the box Version 5, but also says in the top corner, "Enhance your Windows XP Burning Experience"....so its XP perfect natively. I installed it, and everything went without a hitch. No online upgrade needed as many have mentioned. So if you purchase this product, look for the latest version in the store...don't buy the one with the XP sticker on it - it might not work as well. To sum it up, this program works flawlessly. It is quick, the interface is even nicer than version 4. Its easy to use, and the visualizations while playing music are a nice touch. I have full confidence that it will work perfectly/flawlessly on any of your computers running windows XP PROVIDING you purchase the latest version (which is actually 5.1). Quickly, a way of telling if it is the latest version, is that they no longer include the program "Take Two" with it (they claimed that it is no longer efficient for windows XP and large hard drives on most computers these days). So make sure that isn't written on the side of the box and it'll be the newest version. This program works great, was easy to install, is a breeze to use, has a nice interface and is a nice, quick burning tool which no computer should be without. I have no idea about compatibility with Nero, since I have never had it on this computer. This program is a Godsend and I'm so happy to have my favorite CD burning (and ripping!!!) program back. I recommend that you give this program a try, even though it has received some horrid reviews. I'm rather sure that these problems have been resolved with this new version that I'm running!
Rating: Summary: Bad News --- And Dark Screen Review: Had ECDC-5 Platinum on my machine, running WinME; worked okay. Upgraded to WinXP------NOTHING, not even with the download via cable modem! Try to reboot, and screen came on like it was going to die-----------very, very faint. Thank goodness that I created a 'restore point' just before the install attempt so I could have my computer back. I have a note into ROXIO; maybe they have a 'fix'???
