Rating: Summary: Easy set-up, works great Review: No problems installing using Windows XP. Just be sure to get version 5.1. CD burning couldn't be easier, both video and audio.
Rating: Summary: Could this be the worst software ever designed? Review: It's hard to know where to begin to review this software. While it contains a few minor improvements, there is such large number of critical problems that the best advice is to avoid it at all costs. I used versions 2, 3, and 4 of the Adaptec/Roxio software, and they were fantastic. The difference with version 5 is like night and day, and version 5 is definitely a product of the darkest night. To start with, Roxio seems to have forgotten that an interface should make software *easier* to use. While it looks nicer, it is more cumbersome, and actually makes it harder to reach certain features. When I upgraded from version 4 to 5, I lost the ability to copy data CDs. Moreover, Roxio 5.0 said that the problem was with my CD burner, which had worked fine before the upgrade. My ability to make music CDs was impaired as well, but not as completely. The software does have some minor improvements. Its Spin Doctor module, which allows you to record analog audio content to your hard drive, includes a better track splitter. And it has an easier video CD creation module. But overall, I didn't find the improvements were worth the price. Save your money. Save your sanity. Keep your old version!
Rating: Summary: Easy CD Creator 5 is a great program Review: I downloaded Easy CD Creator 5.1 Platinum of KaZzA, and for the most part, Easy CD Creator 5 is one of the best CD burning programs. It burns .mp3 cd's, it burns Mp3's to your CD-R, without getting a converter, it burns video cd's, picture cd's, and copy's cd's. If you were to install this on a to your computer, I would reccomend at least 300 MHz Celeron, 64-96 MB of RAM, 200 free MB's of hard drive space, and make sure your burner is no slower than a 4 speed writeable. With Windows XP, there are definitely some problems installing it, and burning CD's. Windows XP is identified at Windows NT 5.0, and this program was made for NT 4.0, so it doesn't recognize the operating system. At roxio.com, you have to download a few patches and updates to install it. If you have Windows XP, and no other OS's available, this is a first pick. If you have Windows 98, ME, I wouldn't rush to get this if you don't need all the bells and whistles. Although, Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum is an excellent CD burning program that shouldn't be missed.
Rating: Summary: awesome Review: I love this program. It does all my CD creating and serves all my needs. Can do anything. Extreamly simple to use and mostly and point and click application.
Rating: Summary: not worth it Review: I purchased this product and was very disapointed. Every time I tried to calibrate the printer or do anything with the grid adjustment it would lock up the computer. I got no help from their support. I purchased another product that works just fine. The label applicator works very well.
Rating: Summary: Great Review: I have been using this software from the 3.5 version. I have never been happier with a piece of software. I am currently using the 5.1 Platinum release on my Inspiron 8000 an on my Dell Demenion 8100. I upgraded both to XP and had to run the patches but they worked just fine if you followed the direction. I also us it on an old system home built out of left over parts with 64 Meg mem and still works fine. I don't understand how the other reviews have had trouble with this software unless they can't follow directions. I highly recomend this software to anyone reguardless of there skill level with computers.
Rating: Summary: Crap, total crap. Review: XP users beware. Don't beware even, be smart and avoid. This is crap and not worth the headache of trying to get it to work. Crap Crap Crap
Rating: Summary: Flawless performance on XP Review: I was initially concerned about Roxio, having read about the numerous problems with XP compatibility. Just got a new Pentium 4 with XP and of course, Roxio. Version 5.1 is perfect. The included features do everything they say they can do, without any freezes, crashes and weird error messages. The burning capacity is excellent. I could not be more pleased with the software. All I can say in the end, is for people to make sure they get version 5.1
Rating: Summary: Pretty good burning software Review: My first CD burner came with a stripped-down version of Easy CD Creator, I think version 3. When I had to make a VideoCD, I upgraded to 5 Platinum and it works great. Better interface and tools allow easy CD burning. However, I have since upgraded to Windows XP and the patch available on Roxio's website adds XP compatibility and fixes a lot of bugs, especially with DirectCD. Even though Roxio designed WinXP's built-in CD burning software, I prefer Easy CD Creator much better.
