Summary: Overrated
Review: Easily the most popular CD burning software but just as easily the most frustrating. I have wasted more CDs using this software. It does not handle USB very well. It is just plain written dumb. I could go on and on. The screens do not flow well when moving around. It is like VHS VS Beta sometimes the most popular is not the best. Anyways try Nero. PS: I have heard the exact same comments from other technical folks. They do not like Easy CD Cremator!

Summary: Probably a great program-IF you don't have XP
Review: This program has caused me more grief. It just won't work with XP! Roxio can't even get it together to sell off the shelf a program that is XP compatible, and even with the latest 5.3.1 patch it won't work. Roxio, you're getting this program back! I should sue you for the time it has cost me!

Review: Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum by Roxio is a wonderful. Highly recommended.

Summary: 5.1 will work
Review: I originally purchased the initial release of this software and like other folks here I was highly pissed. Now that 5.1 is out it seems to work just fine. I have upgraded it to 5.3 from the Roxio website and I must say, this is the way this software is supposed to work. I still can't rate this higher than 3 stars because Roxio took there own sweet time developing this software before it would work right out of the box. It would be preferable to put the version # on the box so people wouldn't end up puchasing the "Garbage Copies".

Summary: Horrible--Wiped out my system & all data!!!!!
Review: I INSTALLED THIS ON A ONE-WEEK-OLD XP OS COMPUTER THAT HAD ALL XP UPDATES AND HAD A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF DATA ALREADY STORED ON IT. I INSTALLED EASY CD CREATOR 5 PLATINUM AND, UPON REBOOT, FOUND THAT IT HAD FATALLY CORRUPTED THE OPERATING SYSTEM. I HAD TO REFORMAT THE DISK,LOSING ALL DATA. I WILL NOT TAKE THE CHANCE OF TRYING TO RE-INSTALL THIS PRODUCT, EVEN WITH THE PURPORTED UPDATES. THE PEOPLE WHO ARE MARKETING THIS ABOMINATION DESERVE TO BURN IN . . . WELL, YOU GET THE IDEA. DO NOT...REPEAT...DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Summary: Easy CD Creator 5.1 is installed and works just fine on XP!
Review: I just thought I should add my two cents ... After reading the reviews of this product I was considering purchasing another product, but I did not want to since I already had Easy CD Creator Basic running on my Dell 8200 with Windows XP. Finally, I read the 5 Star reviews and found that version 5.1 (the one with "Enhance your Windows XP Burning Experience" on a blue background in the upper right hand corner of the box AND the one without the program "Take Two" listed as a feature)was working fine for other folks. AND IT IS FOR ME TOO!!!!! Just purchase the right version, uninstall your old Easy CD Creator as the User Guide says and then install it. We can now create Video CDs that run on our DVD player ...

Summary: Want to waste time AND money?
Review: Gee, if you've got a spare [money] and loads of time on your hands, this is the product for you! Three tries at installing this program, along with the downloads to upgrade to XP from their website (by the way, why can't they come out with a version that you BUY with XP compatible software on the disc???) and it still doesn't work. Plus, it wipes out your drives every time you try to install (thank heaven for the XP "Restore" function). Three strikes and you're out, as far as I'm concerned, along with the three hours I wasted trying to get this garbage to work. A real shame, because Roxio 5.0 Platinum worked on my old Windows 98 operating system just fine. Get it together, Roxio. As for all you potential customers -- save your money.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: I received and installed this, only to find that two of its features - Direct CD and Take Two have been disabled due to problems. These were the main reasons I purchased the software.

Summary: Half a loaf is better than none...?
Review: ECDC 5 Platinum would not work under XP as it came out of the box from ..., but updating it for the 5.1 patch as contained on the Roxio website seemed to solve that. (Still, why not publish a full, working product?)

However, I *still* cannot get Session Selection (to be able to access multiple data recording sessions on one CD) to work on either my DVD or CD-ROM drives on my 4-mo old Gateway (even after downloading Roxio's "new drivers" patch (5.10k), and since this was one of the main reasons I updated from the free Version 5 s/w that came on my Gateway, I am very disappointed. I am standing by to get my 2nd email from Roxio tech support on this issue...

This would seem to be at best a half-baked product. And I agree that the manual, even if some 200 p. long, is quite poorly written.

For shame, Roxio (now Adaptec?)!

Summary: DOESN'T WORK WITH XP
Review: After reinstalling this program 3 times with all patches and updates i still could not get this fetid product to work, this product is still not xp compliant. On top of this if you try to unistall this product it will compromise the default way which windows burns cds. In short, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IT WILL SCREW YOUR XP COMPUTER UP!!!!
