Summary: Norton System Works 2004
Review: Well, I got this program from a local Electronics retailer.I downloaded the ENTIRE program as is, and had major problems
instantly. My screen would freeze after being online only a few minutes and I'd reboot maybe 8 or 9 times in a single day! My computer is 5 years old and did not have enough memory to accomodate the entire package, and I wasn't going to use most of it anyway..the idea of a program knowing all my passwords is kind of unnerving, too.....So I uninstalled the program and re - installed it , using the Customizing feature and only installed the Anti - Virus and Utilities programs. They're the only two I really need anyway...and Norton System Works 2004 works just fine now!
Rebooting and screen freezing rarely occurs now, and as for the Norton AV program itself, I've augmented it with the Stinger AV program, which is free and has a bit of a wider scope than the Norton AV program. I also have an Anti - Pop up and Anti Spyware program - Emerald Pop Stop and Spyware Blaster, respectively, and I recommend the use of both of them, too.
My complaints about Norton 2004 : It takes up a LOT of memory, and some us us can't afford a new computer every year or two...
Also, it appears incompatible with some Windows programs, such as scan disk and Defragmentation..but I found a way around that by going into SAFE MODE and using the Scan Disk and Defrag programs and they work just fine that way.
Before installing Norton System works 2004, I recommend reading the book...It is very useful. It helped me to understand the Norton 2004.
(...) And I do recommend the other programs I'd mentioned earlier in this review, used in tandem with Norton System Works 2004. This is Fort Knox protection at a price you can afford!

Review: I would rather upgrade to 2004 instead of pay subscription to 2003 version, it's cheaper if you take advantage of Symantec rebate program.
I should praise Symantec for the rebate program improvement: they noticed me the status of rebates promptly, quickly answer my question, and mail the check quite fast. They're listen to the customers comment, well done!!!
Everything stay almost the same as 2003, one improvement is now SpeedDisk can do the job correctly. (03 version prevent me to do the task due to some partition or format issues, but can't remember the details)
Reason to give 4 stars because Go Back is not work at my computer -- I can't use hibernation or shut down properly after install it (Sony notebook P3 650MHz & Win2K). I need to unistall the program other than that its work fine.

Summary: Sticking With It
Review: I have used Norton products for the past few years and have been very satisfied. It is for this reason that I decided to stay with Norton when I updated my utilities suite. Shortly after installing SystemWorks 2004, I started having problems with my computer. The time it took for my computer to boot up seemed to double. I received several error messages regarding Windows and, finally, Windows wouldn't start at all. I had to re-install my operating system (Windows XP). I had problems printing, programs would hang, CDs and DVDs wouldn't run correctly, and the music I had downloaded to my computer several months ago wouldn't play properly. There is nothing wrong with my computer; it's not even a year old yet and it is a powerful system. I had everything checked on it just to be sure and the computer itself is fine.It took a while to figure it out but Norton Antivirus seems to be the culprit. No matter what settings I use, the computer will not operate properly as long as Norton Antivirus is enabled. I have finally got to the point where I can go online and work on one or two documents with the antivirus enabled, but usually I have to disable it for the computer to work as it should. Playing CDs or DVDs, or listening to music is not possible with the antivirus enabled. Of course, with Norton disabled, that means I can't go online; that just wouldn't be safe. So, I have to completely disconnect (remove the plug from the computer itself) from the Internet and then disable Norton for everything to run smoothly. I'm not a computer whiz so I don't know exactly what the problem is but I have learned to work around it. I thought about switching to McAfee but I truly don't believe McAfee is as good a product as Norton. Norton Utilities works like a charm when it comes to finding and fixing system and disk problems. Norton Cleansweep is great at removing unneeded files. I access the internet through my cable service so I don't need Connection Keep Alive which prevents dropped dial-up connections. As for Password Manager, I don't keep any personal, confidential information on my computer, not even passwords. Nothing is foolproof so if a hacker does manage to get to my computer, he won't find anything interesting. And even though Norton Antivirus is giving me problems, I still think it is a great tool at finding and removing threats from your PC. I'm hoping that Norton will be able to work out the glitches with SystemWorks 2004 and that everything will be back on track for SystemWorks 2005. In the meantime, I'm just living with a slow computer and a few hassles.

Summary: Can't Use My USB Card Reader Anymore
Review: This software conflicts with Easy CD DVD Creator 6, but to find that out is not easy. After six hours on the phone (mostly spent waiting), their tech support finally revealed this. Read other reviews on the 'net!! Installation of both on your computer may corrupt registry files!! I had to re-format the drive and re-install software. Then, when trying to re-activate NSW 2004, the fun began with their lack of support. Repeated attempts by Symantec to re-activate the software have been 100% unsuccessful. Both Symantec customer and tech 'support' are basically unavailable due to high load. Extremely frustrating to deal with. I am switching to McAfee and hoping for the best.....
