Rating: Summary: This software is WORSE THAN A VIRUS Review: After I installed this software according to instructions I attempted to log into my ISP. The software took up 99 percent of my CPU time which prevented me from getting to Task Manager or Shutting it down for about 15 minutes. The system eventually shutdown but, after rebooting, my system drive had to be repaired and I lost files. Including Norton Anti-Virus 2002. Coincidence?? Internet Violocity also knocked out my ability to access other computers on the LAN and prevented access to my DNS, eventhough it was correctly configured in the network settings. I had to reinstall Windows 2000 networking, Norton Anti-Virus and ISP software. I don't know if anything else was damaged. I am a Senior Software developer for one of the country's major companies and have over 20 years experience. As such, I consider this RECKLESS programming. The developers obviously didn't have their design well thoughout--guess it is all in the bottom line these days. Anyhow, I tried contacting customer support, however, the phone just rang. I sent email and received NO response. My advice, RUN FROM Internet Velocity and LOOK FOR ANOTHER PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Works just great for me Review: I am not a real big computer guy. I have a pretty basic machine, and not a lot of money to buy a new one. A buddy recommended this to me, I bought and installed it, and it has worked just fine. It took a couple of restarts to really see a difference, and since I only have an old modem, the speed increase was pretty noticieable loading the webpages All in all, I think this product does just what it says.
Rating: Summary: This software is WORSE THAN A VIRUS Review: I submitted a review on this last week, however, it MYSTERIOUSLY disappeared--censorship? In a nutshell this Internet Velocity (Velocity must stand for the speed at which it destroyed my system): - When I asked my the first web page after installing it locked up my system, by prefetching the same page over and over. It took up almost 100 percent of my CPU. It took about 15 minutes before it would let me shutdown my system. - After rebooting I found Norton 2002 Anti-Virus wiped out (coincedence?) - I could no longer access other computers on the LAN. - I could no longer access my DNS although the network settings were correct. - It mangled my ISP software I guess it remains to be seen if there are anymore problems. It took me a few hours to repair. Now when I dial-up my ISP I get dial-up connection screens... I am a senior software developer with one of the countries major company's and have over 20 years in software development. I consider this software to have been developed by reckless and irresponsible programmers. I don't believe they had their arms around the analysis before development, if they did any analysis at all. And what happened to QA and testing??? I suggest that anybody thinking about buying this software RUN AND BUY ANOTHER COMPANIES SOFTWARE.
