Summary: McAfee is by far the best
Review: I have used various products like Norton AntiVirus, but McAfee is superior especially in Version 7.0 with features that Norton AntiVirus 2002 does not have. When compared side by side, McAfee clearly is the best in the market.

Summary: Great program...but...
Review: While McAfee has certainly raised the bar for its Virus protection, this latest public offering grates a little on my nerves. What gets my goat, you ask? The infuriating lack of a "Disable System Scanning" option that was available in previous versions of the program. This means that system scanning, e-mail scanning, and internet scanning are no longer separate (and individually tweakable) functions. In 7.0, if you turn of scanning, you turn off just about everything else. With my aging, but still spry, Windows 98 machine, I am forced to sacrifice my used-to-be-comfortable-speed before the altar of complete virus protection. Since I have a solid, stand alone computer, a virus' chance of sneaking into my system came only through e-mail or a malicious website. I didn't need to do constant, in-depth system scanning and I still don't need to now. Windows XP users, or others with more super-capacity capabilites, may not find this a problem but for us lite-internet surfers with older machines, it can be a major hassle. To be fair, I'll give it a couple of weeks but if I'm still not impressed, it's back to its predecessor.

To sum up: Is the program great? Yes. Firewall fantastic? You betcha. And it's got more bells and whistles than most fire trucks. But as for individual customization? I give it a big, fat "[zero]"!

Summary: Virus software is a must
Review: Virus protection software is too improtant to run without. If you have a constant internet broadband connection like me you are especially wary of what might get into your system. I currently have 4 systems running on a home network and am protecting one system with this product. While I believe the product works as advertised I still prefer Norton AntiVirus. I also use the built in firewall but also prefer using Zone Alarm for my firewall duty. I must say that this product has protected as well as the Norton/Zone Alarm combo I run on my other systems. If your an upgrader it is currently free with rebates. If your a first time buyer of virus protection software buy this product and Norton AntiVirus 2003 and try them both out. You will then qualify for both McAfee and Nortons upgrades and can have both for next to nothing

Summary: Protect your PC
Review: It wasn't too long ago that anti-virus software was very difficult to install and use, which is why many computer users just went without and hoped for the best. But McAfee has been working to improve their products, and VirusScan 7.0 is proof that they are succeeding.

VirusScan 7.0 is one of the easiest programs to install. With just a few clicks, it was installed on my computer and I had an emergency boot disk as well. The user guide that comes with it is very well laid out and answered most (though not all) of my questions. 30 minutes are starting, I had installed and set-up my new VirusScan.

There are many improvements in version 7.0 over its predecessor. Updating the program over the Internet is much easier, as is getting around the program itself. They have simplified and combined some of the different controls, and have also added a Script Stopper to help keep errant scripts from taking over your computer (already, it has identified three unruly scripts on my computer and I've only had it for two weeks).

Like it's predecessor, VirusScan 7.0 comes with a firewall program. Though it may be me, I have never had much success with this firewall program and so I opted not to install it (use the custom install to do this). However, since I bought this product for the anti-virus capabilities I don't feel cheated at all. I am very happy with it.

Summary: VirusScan Home Edition 7.0
Review: This type of product is necessary for today's computer users. The question becomes "Which product to purchase?" McAfee is well known to be a credible company and the price with rebates is unbeatable. So what are you waiting on? tadpole

Summary: This product is fantastic!
Review: I've pre-ordered VirusScan 7.0 because I used the beta version and I was EXTREMELY impressed. Very stable, easy-to-use, and comes with an excellent firewall. I have found the slowdown problems of the past version to be nonexistent. I have VirusScan set to run in the background scanning all files with heuristics scanning and there is no noticeable performance impact! The beta version I am using is so good I just had to pre-order the final release!

The firewall is NOT a cheap add-on to allow McAfee to add another blurb on the box...it is a full featured firewall that I find much better than ZoneAlarm. It is nicely integrated with VirusScan, too. The updating features are especially impressive...McAfee gives you a great level of control over the virus definition updating process that Norton simply does not.

Summary: Un-Matched Quality allows users to use IT information safely
Review: McAfee Virus scan is always my best choice to scan, detect and remove deadly computers virus.

Nowadays, PCs usuers are under serious threat of PC virus which could destroy and delete our precious personal data and information stored in our PCs, and mass destruction could be caused by these computer virus.

I find McAfee anti-virus sofetware safe, reliable and un-matched in quality which allows me to use the internet and e-mails more secure and comfortable than ever.

Summary: Must be Great!!!
Review: This must be a great product. Why? Well, I have owned MacAfee's previous editions and I have to tell you they all have done what they have said they do. During these last years the Internet has become an indispensable tool for every day purposes. The problem is that getting to the Internet (especially if you download music, games, movies etc.) means that you will be exposed to viruses, warms and many other problems. The viruses and worms might ruin your PC and will surly give you many problems. If you get this item I am pretty sure that you will be protected against these types of problems. I know a lot of people who don't have any anti-virus protection or they have a very old version of the anti-virus. Most of these people have gotten many viruses and they all have paid [a subtantial amount of money] to fix their machines. So if you decide to buy this product your money will have been well spent and your machine will be totally protected.

Summary: Worked until I had to install on XP
Review: I had a copy of this running in WIN 2000 & it worked fine. I changed machines & installed it with XP & it never worked. I kept getting error messages when I booted up my Outlook. My husband's computer (on a Dell installed version) kept catching viruses on the same messages (luckily I did not open any of the suspicious attachments). After uninstalling & reinstalling several times to no avail, I contacted McAfee support (by instant messaging). The first tech support took 30 minutes & no sucess - basically telling me to uninstall by hand about 15 files & then reboot. The second time on tech support, I spent 45 minutes trying to convince some idiot that the program was NOT working - finally forwarded one of the virus messages to him & his "LAB". Wow, I was right!!!! His fix that took another 30 minutes included a reboot (so I lost touch with him) & did not work. I am giving up & buying something else, my time is more valuable that this!
