Rating: Summary: It Should be Given Away Review: Yes, I was dumb enough to pay for this. Kudos to the marketing department at Microsoft. It looked like a great product, and then you install it and quickly figure out it's something Microsoft should have included as part of Windows XP. What caught my eye was the option to make your own screen saver. Unfortunately, it's limited and it shows that stupid exclamation-mark symbol. I played with the screen savers and one game, beyond that it lays dormant in my computer. If Microsoft continues this pattern, eventually you'll order WindowsXP--the 2023 Version--and when you install it, it won't run. Then you'll call tech support and they'll say "Oh, it appears you didn't buy the serial number. Would you like to order the serial number now?"
Rating: Summary: A lot of dollars for little content Review: Microsoft Plus! provides some nice additions to windows XP. Unfortunately it just does not provide enough of them to warrant the cost. I purchased thinking I would be receiving a large number of themes, enhancements etc. Unfortunately this is not the case. On the up side what you do get is of a high quality. In short its nice to have, but not worth half the cost.
Rating: Summary: Good Add-On for XP Review: This program is very good. Although some people dispise of it, I really love it. The CD Labeler is great. Their are new themes and other goodies on this cd. Great Buy.
Rating: Summary: its a great add on Review: i have to say this little add on is pretty cool, a couple of games and couple of backrounds, if ur one of those people that enjoy playing around with the way ur computer looks, this program is deffianately for you.
Rating: Summary: Just not worth the money Review: I received Microsoft Plus! XP as a gift and I really don't have the heart to tell my friend that they wasted their money. Oh, there are a couple of good things on the disc but nothing that really merits the purchase price. It's almost like the software was an afterthought - let's see what we can put in it since we don't really have anything. First off lets start the Digital Media collection. Nothing here really to speak of that's worth anything. A voice recognition system for the media player? It's not worth fighting with to run just a media player. The label maker, speaker enhancement and personal DJ? They don't do anything that really matters (or other software doesn't do without spending the extra cash). Media Player skins and Visualizations? You can download those for free from a number of sites - and again without paying for it. As for the MP3 audio converter, yes the new files are smaller but the only player you can use is the Microsoft one and the sound quality is not as good as an MP3. The games - there are only three and only one is a full version. The other two require downloads and additional purchases. The Bowling game is difficult to control and well, boring. The Labyrinth game isn't too bad but it's very difficult. The winner is Russian Square which is actually fun and addictive. As for the themes and screen savers - most aren't anything that special or noteworthy. The one exception is the aquarium screensaver which really is something to look at. But again, if you want the full version of the program you have to pay an additional cost. The rest aren't anything that really merits the cost of the program. Overall I'm really disappointed in the entire package - the cost is far too high for what you get and I can't help shaking the feeling the entire package is just a cheesy gimmick to sell you even more software. "Look at the great things in Microsoft Plus! XP" then when you buy it you find out you have to pay even more for the rest of the programs.
Rating: Summary: Now It is My Turn To DUMP Review: I Ignored the online reviews. Mostly a waste of time and disc space, and if you think you'll save disc space converting mp3's into wma's....hahahah they have you fooled.... I whatched a folder of 70.1 mb turn into 70.8 mb when I converted just a single folder....be warned if you use this, don't do more than one folder at a time or it will burn and crash your media player!
Rating: Summary: How to waste your money 101 Review: Microsoft Plus! is more like a Microsoft Dud! I expected more--a lot more. Instead of being satisfied, my brand new computer is not functioning as well. The voice recognition works when there is NO MUSIC PLAYING, but I was reduced to yelling when I listened to my music, not to mention that the program recognized sounds in the music and would stop playing (even when I turned off the background noise feature). What's more, the games aren't very good--especially the bowling--and I feel like I was ripped off....Microsoft wouldn't be getting their money, then. The visualizations are not interesting to someone above the age of 9, and my music sounded worse after I switched formats, too. The themes aren't special, more like cheesy updated versions of what you've seen before. The fish tank screen saver is good, but you only get 3 fish and have to pay for more. What's the deal? You pay for a snazzy new looking Plus!, but get pitiful content, problems, and a bill. Microsoft Plus!? I say Microsoft Dud! Don't waste your money like I did mine.
Rating: Summary: Microsoft Plus!for Windows XP Review: If you have windows XP you must buy this. This enables XP to really be the great product it was meant to be. I just wish I didn't have to purchase it separate but I do not regret it. The best thing about it was that it enabled me to activate MP3 which is what I needed to burn great CD's and play them on CD players other then my PC. The screen saver and games are fantastic like 3D and wonderful. It is worth every penny. It helps novices like myself to create things I never thought I was capable of doing.
Rating: Summary: Rip off -big time Review: I expect when I PAY for a group of games, etc that I get full versions. Good stuff, but that soon turned to disqust when I found that after paying... that everything would only be a stripped down version and to get the "whole thing" would be $[money]. additional per full version of each item....that is rip-off and I hate it. And then it would be a download version...no way.. My review says: Dont waste your money to buy a strip down version of anything..good money after bad purchase.....Use these reviews unless you are very, very rich......
Rating: Summary: expensive screen saver lacking the needed "BITS" Review: Shazam MCSE.MCP. NT/Security Consultant. March.02 Based on the No.s!!! I personally have not played with all the features and settings, but from what I have, and the reviews to date, the only plus to this package is a expensive screen saver! so it seems. XP/2000 Are without argument Bills best buys as far as functionality and performance go for the consumer.(if all patches are updated)not including licences. Considering XP now has 3 patches out(one of which was released before the o/s if im correct?) one would have expected another security tool kit simular to the NT/2000 KIT Released last year. After all pre-sales marketing informed us that XP is the securest o/s of the lot yet we keep getting vulnerabilaty alerts, and would'nt you know it the main systems with the exploits and holes would be our beloved m/s. XP is my all around working platform of choice, but untill the security issues are resolved,a unix/linux enviroment would have to be the platform i choose to have working for me!!! Shazam!
