Rating: Summary: A great diagnostic suite! Review: Norton SystemWorks is the must have diagnostic suite for anyone wanting to keep their computer error free. The Antivirus protection program is top notch, protecting you and your friends against the new types of viruses that work via your e-mail program. Norton Antivirus also automatically updates itself through the internet, which is good for people who have a DSL or Cable connection. This feature doesn't work well with a dial-up connection, though. Norton SystemWorks diagnostic programs are fast, efficient and trustworthy. Being a long time user of SystemWorks, I found that this version works much smoother than past versions. SystemWorks schedules itself to do weekly checkups automatically, which makes this the perfect diagnostic suite for the user who doesn't often run diagnostic programs. As with all Norton programs, SystemWorks is easy to install and just as simple to use. The book that comes with the boxed disk - - which is what I have - - is easy to understand and does a decent job explaining how things work for the new user of Norton SystemWorks. If you've used Norton SystemWorks before, get the download; if you are new to SystemWorks, buy it boxed. All in all, it's a great diagnostic suite! I am running Windows 98. Also, I went from SystemWorks 2000 to SystemWorks 2002 without a glitch.
Rating: Summary: A nightmare for your hard drive Review: Norton took a good program, SystemWorks 2001, and revised it into an erratic, highly buggy program that deletes drive partitions, destroys the O/S and is impossible to remove cleanly. We've tried it on two PC's - a Sony Vaio Pentium III running Windows ME and a Pentium 4 desktop with Windows 98. It behaved the same way on both and ended up in having to reformat and restore data on BOTH machines. Even getting it installed on a spanking clean, newly reformated, machine caused major problems. This edition should never have made it out of the QA department. If you have 2001, don't upgrade!
Rating: Summary: System Works 2002 Review: A good product it installed without a glitch, I currently am running Windows XP RC1 on a NEC P-3 450 and it performed speed disk, virus scan, and clean sweep without any problems.
Rating: Summary: Symantec dissapoints with new version Review: I have been a loyal user of Symantec's Norton SystemWorks for several years now. When I upgraded to Windows XP, I bought this new version of Norton SystemWorks to go with it without any hesitation. Unfortunately, I was dissapointed by a number of things. First off, let me tell you what I liked. Norton AntiVirus is still the best of the breed virus protection you can buy. It automatically configures itself to protect you not only from viruses hidden in files and downloads, but it will also scan both your incoming and outgoing e-mail. By scanning the outgoing e-mail, it prevents you from spreading viruses like Melissa without even knowing it. Nice touch. Live Update is also a top notch feature. Live Update will check for updates such as virus definitions and program updates in the background and automatically apply them. No user input needed. Symantec could not have made it simpler. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of new features in Norton SystemWorks 2002. In fact, if you use Norton SystemWorks 2002 on a Windows NT/2000 or Windows XP machine, you will find several features missing. Two features I really miss are the Optimization Wizard in Norton Utilities and the Registry Sweep in Norton CleanSweep. Symantec does not tell you that these features do not work on Windows NT/2000/XP until after you have purchased the product. Perhaps sensing that there was not a lot of new features to justify an upgrade, Symatec has included Roxio's GoBack which can help you revert your system to an earlier state should you run into a problem. This feature is totally uncessary for users of Windows Me or Windows XP since Microsoft includes the System Restore feature that accomplishes the same thing. In fact, many of the features in Norton SystemWorks 2002 are already included in newer versions of Windows (such as disk defragmenters and uninstallers). Given this, there may not be a lot of reason to buy Norton SystemWorks 2002. Most people really only need the Norton AntiVirus component which can be purchased cheaper as a standalone. Overall, Norton SystemWorks 2002 is still a quality product, but there is just not a lot of reasons to justify an upgrade.
Rating: Summary: Prepare for a nightmare and have hours at your disposal Review: MAJOR BUGS!!!! This software requires you to delete all prior Norton Utilities (including FAX) and Systemworks. When it refused to load, I was required to attempt a manual uninstall including going into registry and making changes. Still won't load. Nor will it let you reload your old software. If you have questions about the nightmares you will encounter--check the Symantec site under technical service for this software. ... I am now left without any virus protection or FAX access. I have been a loyal customer for many years but this is insane. If you purchase this software before they have a fix, don't say you weren't warned.
Rating: Summary: SystemWorks is a SystemNoWork Review: I in stalled Systemworks 2002 Pro on my computer running ME. After installing the software I started getting messages that I do not have enough memory. I have 640megs of RAM. It began to say that my registry was corruted. I allowed it to repair the registry. The machine crashed and I lost everything. SystemWorks is suppose to keep your system working. Instead, it prevented it from working. I do not recommend this product to anyone. If you do not have problems before installing it ( I had no problems before installing)you will when you do install.
Rating: Summary: All star review Review: The 2001 system works was great; with all the additional features, especially the GoBack3 feature, there is no way I will ever be without Norton System Works 2002!
Rating: Summary: System Works 2002 Review: Norton System Works 2002 is a great program to have for your pc. It has antivirus and utilities and cleansweep. Cleansweep is for saving hard drive space and it does a good job at doing that. Antivirus is great antivirus protection for your pc and Utilities can find and fix problems, defragment your hard disk and other stuff. Now this version comes with support for Windows XP. Roxio Go Back 3 Home Edition is great for backing up your hard drive and restoring it to a past time. However Go Back can use a lot of hard drive space I recomend it if you have 30 GB or more. Overall I would say you should buy this new version or upgrade from a past version. I also recomend Norton Personal Firewall 2002 also from Symantec. It does a very great job at protecting your computer from hackers. Recomended if you have Cable or DSL. Personal Firewall has blocked a numerous number of hackers from infecting my computer with trojans or just trying to steal stuff from my hard disk. All Highly Recomended.

Rating: Summary: What a Nightmare! Review: Since I have been using Norton SystemWorks my computer has never run better! The antivirus program is wonderful as always and in my book is the best protection you can get for your home computer. The other utilities included in SystemWorks are keeping everything else running smoothly. It's by far the simplest of this type of software I've ever used. The One Button Checkup is my favorite feature. A must have!
