Summary: Not all that's promised
Review: Firstly, let me say that I am an experienced Windows user. I'm no dummy here.

I spent 3 hours of interactive time with the product trying to get a move from a Win98 machine to XP. Lem'me tell you, I had to get on line to get a patch even AFTER it had checked itself to make sure that all was up to date. That took an hour to figure out. Then, of all the folders that wouldn't transfer, half of "My Documents," had to be done manually on Zip disks. I didn't want to carry over Netscape (an old version 4) but it wouldn't let me deselect it; I had no choice but to bring it over! To top it off, all of Office is embedded in two subdirectories on my new machine. Not what it's cracked up to be.

Summary: If you have XP don't do it
Review: Got new computer with XP. Instructions from Eisenwold say it works with XP but got the warning that Microsoft hasn't o.k.'d it for XP. Called Aloha Bob and he said to go ahead anyway. Did so, but it allowed some conflicting programs to migrate causing serious problems. After a weekend of fun I had to do a complete reboot from emergency disks. I decided to say Aloha to Bob.

Summary: Aloha also means HELLO
Review: Hello Bob!

After reading all of the reviews and downloading the trial to see for myself I have to give this product two thumbs up. I spent more than twenty years in the business of supporting computer systems. I have been on the Tech Support side of the phone too for some of the largests players in the PC and Macintosh worlds.
This product may very well be the Best of it's Kind, or even a one of a kind. I read all the reviews and I can see that some of the users may have been trying to move something that would have been better to do with just the net cable and some file sharing and not trying to use this product at all. No software is capable of protecting the user from themself.
My situation was like this. I had recently done a fresh from the ground up install, I then re-installed all the applications that I could from the CDs. That is number one the BEST way to reinstall any application. But I ran up against one program that I could not reinstall, it seems I have misplaced the disks when I moved. Maybe they are still in storage. The program originally cost hundreds and I needed it. I bought it, I own it, but I can't prove it with the disks. Attempts to just grab the folder(s) related failed. Copying registry entries failed. So, along comes BOB. I knew I still had the software installed on a laptop I used to use more than I do now, so I decided to try. What did I have to loose, Right?
Well the first attempt reported that I could not move the (only) application I wanted to move. Because of the existence of my attempt to do it myself manually. So I went back and removed all evidence of those attempts. Then it worked! HELLO BOB
I would not recommend this to users who believe they know what they are doing, only to those who do. It's a tool I can see myself using over and over in my work supporting systems, cloning installs, and procedures like that. Over time as Windows versions evolve this may be the Best and Fastest way to do the job.
I could have saved many hours of my time if I'd used this to begin with. I would still have used all the CD's and serial numbers that I could, but for something that you just CAN'T, this is perfect!
For those of you that don't feel comfortable, or don't read, or can't read, or just don't get it. Hire a professional, make sure they have experience with data and application migration...not the kid next door.

Summary: Alohabob handled Office 2000 flawlessly
Review: I am on the road a lot, and make a lot of use of my notebook, (the VAIO rocks !!). I am a journalist, and depend on Office, and Outlook a lot. I am always upgrading hardware, and if you ever have, you will know what I am talking about. Anyway I saw Walt's review in the Wall Street Journal, and figured what the heck. I went from a C1x, running Windows 2000, to XP Pro on c1MW. Could not get it to connect, but I called support, and once I updated the program, it was perfect. The guy on the phone said that what I wanted to do i.e. move office should be as easy as pie. He was right. If you aren't an IT pro, this stuff makes it easy. I highly recommend this product, and the support was pretty good.

Summary: I agree with those who say this is "junk"
Review: I encountered any number of problems using this software. I consider myself computer literate enough to have gotten through this unscathed, following the directions and prompts. The problems that stand out boldly in my mind to this day are: getting the message my USB connections were not being recognized. So I had to run out in a SNOW STORM to buy a typical PC to PC parallel cable. Then, I kept getting stalled in the middle of the transfer with a cryptic list of files I didn't recognize that the program said were "corrupted". That's when I had to call their Technical Support. After hanging on hold for a good half hour, I get a gal on the phone who knew next to nothing about problems of this sort...nor did she or anyone else she talked to recognize the files that were giving me a problem. I spent a good hour with HER, being put on hold several times so she could get information from some other Tech, but the problem kept cropping up. We got to a point where she told me she had other customers she had to get back to before she quit for the day, so I should go back and re-try the things we just DID and see if it worked. She would call back later. Never did.

The only other Technical Support experience I ever had that was any where near as bad as this one was QuickBooks related.

Honestly? You probably stand a 50/50 chance of this product working for you, based on the other customer comments posted. Don't waste your time and money - bite the bullet and transfer the stuff manually, or hire a local tech to do it for you. You'll have more hair left at the end of it all!

Summary: Good but not enough
Review: I had to relocate a new PC at home. I choose Relocator Ultra because I consider myself a computer literate and I needed to relocate not only data but a lot of programs (which by the way I had in their original CDs but I wanted to avoid the pain of reinstalling). I did not use the automatic relocation feature because I have seen some reviews that do not favor that option. The results were not good nor bad. All the data and preferences (desk, IE, Mail) relocated OK but the programs only 50% of my programs relocated OK. The other 50% I had to reinstall. Typical problems: mixed or lost data files and folders, registration numbers not relocated (?!) and add-ons (even those on MS Office) not working. If you are a user with only basic applications (oofice, mail, games) this will work fine. If you have many applications, be prepared to install some of them again.

Summary: Good preparation is the Key
Review: I have a Win 98 laptop with minor keyboard probelms. Since it might get worse with the time being and I want to upgrade to a WinXP PC, I went out to get a new desktop. At the store I was told to get Alohabob PC Relocator Ultra Control(Later I found out---Funny name yet does serious job).

I installed the program and used a USB cable. It did not seem to connect with the new PC at first.I was wondering why, becasue the set up was kind of straight forward. Later I found out that I did not get the lastest version of PC Relocator Ultra. So I downloaded the latest version on my old laptop and burn it on a CD. Get the update on the target as well. I learn new things everyday: ALWAYS get latest updates on softwares. And the tech guys there were kind enough to walk me through the connection process. I was told that preparation is the key to success migrations. So I stop what I was doing, came up a clear list of the things I want to transfer. With the suggestions from tech support, I filter out things that I should install manaully myself, things such as drivers and freewares. Then I went back to finished up the migration. Guess what, it worked beautifully. My email was transfer over and some applications that I no longer have the CDs. I was totally amazed on the result.
Now I can totally understand why there are such good and bad reviews for PC Relocator. I am glad that I have some good experience with this product.
Sugggestions:
1)Make sure you are running the latest version
2)Preparation is the Key: knowing what you want to transfer and what/how things can be transfer

Summary: Works like a charm
Review: I purchased PC Relocator Ultra last week, I transferred my data using a crossover cable- it worked perfectly ( and much faster than the supplied usb cable. A couple of things I learned while using the software - make sure you check for product updates - and do not transfer programs like anti-virus software - or programs that use specific hardware ( like cd writing software) -- those did not transfer to well - but everything else came out better than expected --

*I am the type of user that does not read the manual, I just try to figure it out - after reading all the documentation I found that they do not recommend transferring anti-virus software and hardware specific software - Well I guess transferring 48 programs out of 50 is not to bad--

Summary: ZERO STARS
Review: I purchased PC Relocator UltraControl, and it is giving me no control. I am moving from a Windows 98 computer to a XP computer. I am being careful and only need to 'relocate' two programs. It does NOT allow me full control. The program wants to move ALL of My Documents, even though I have already moved my documents. I specifically ask for only 2 programs to be moved, and it wants to move Windoz 98 settings for the screen and lots more, having nothing to do with the program I want to move. I was hoping this would save me from a painful new setup in the new computer, but it is clearly obvious it will do considerably more damage than good.
Please stay away from this program.

Summary: This product did not deliver as promised
Review: I purchased this product expecting it to be useful in the migration of files and applications from my existing Windows 98SE PC to my new Windows 2000 Professional PC. I expected it to perform better than competitor's products, based on user reviews on the Internet and on Amazon.com. Instead, the results were quite the opposite.
To put it simply, this product failed miserably at moving the majority of my Applications from my older Win98SE PC to my newer Windows 2000 PC. Major applications, including Office 97, Outlook, Frontpage, Netscape Navigator, AVG Antivirus 6.0, Serif PagePlus 8.0, and others, all had to be re-installed from scratch, which tripled the labor factor that I expected, based on your product's description. I can not begin to describe the incredible hassle I have to now go through to sort out which folders contain mere portions of prior applications (text files, Word docs, but no application files), and which contain the real working applications. I have been left with a virtual hodgepodge of partially populated folders from previous applications, that are nearly impossible to sort out. In fact, I do not now trust that any fully-relocated application will now function properly. For [the price], I expected a lot more! Fool me once, shame on me... but, they will not fool me again.

By the way, Eisenworld refused to refund my purchase price and actually returned the product back to me, so they do not even stand behind their product's promises. And I'm stuck with an unreturnable product!
