Rating: Summary: Not bad, but there are better products Review: First off I'd like to say that I had no trouble installing the product, and had the registration number with my package. I used retoreIT several times to restore my computer and it worked well each time. It's very easy to restore your computer, by going into the program and asking which restore point you want to use then it reboots your computer after a few seconds, and after your computer starts back up, restore IT begins restoring your computer, which took a little time; about 15 to 20 minutes on my computer.
I never had a problem, but the reason I only gave it three stars is because to my knowledge restore IT takes a portion of your hard drive space in order to keep it's restore points (which it only takes up about 10 % and is't much), and you have static and incramental points. I don't really know the difference between the two. They both do the same thing. But it seems that static points take up much more room on the part of your drive that restore IT uses. After about 8 months of using the product (and this is just a guess) it told me I had no more room to create a static restore point and couldn't delete the incramental points that I had created previously. Before I got this new computer, I had about six incramental points saved but couldn't delete them. This was a problem because I think after a while you'd run out of space for even those incramental points, and then what, if you can't delete the incramental restore points? My guess is to just uninstall restore IT and start all over, which would be a huge pain.
Of course I never contacted the technical department about this, so there could be a way to get rid of these points and get the space back, but I couldn't figure it out myself, even by looking in the manual.
So other than that setback it worked well in restoring my computer, but it seems like the way it saves the data needs a little tweaking by the developers.
Rating: Summary: No support! Review: This might be the greatest software ever created. I wouldn't know. During installation, you are required to enter a serial number which is described as being "located in the software package". I tried to use the number on a label attached to the inside flap of the CD envelope, but received a message that it wasn't valid. So I cannot install it. Three emails and one week later, I still haven't had a reply from FarStone's so-called Technical Support.
