Rating: Summary: Back up NOW!! Review: It was easy to install and do the back up procedure. However, you have to go and read the instructions FIRST on what to do. They have provided a good easy to read manual, so just be patient and comprehend what they say. It may take a quick 15 minutes at the most (depending on your hard drive capacity) to back up. For me it later on restored my computer back-on up fast. Also before you buy, please make sure you have a CD-RW drive that is recognized by Stomp Inc. Go to their website to see support info and at the same time upgrade to the newest version for FREE.
Rating: Summary: Riddled with problems Review: Just plain awesome.. For years I've been struggling with unreliable tape backup hardware and wanted to switch to DVD-RW as a storage medium. After much research I stumbled across BackupMyPC and gave it a shot. It works exactly as advertised, and is VERY easy to configure and use. The software supports a number of storage medium including DVDs and CDs. You can backup from network drives (although I don't believe the software will install on NT Server or 2000 Server software). No problem, just install it on a workstation and backup from the network. Works like a charm! No real complaints. In fact you'll find more uses for it after you purchase it!

Rating: Summary: Backup MyPC Review: Software works great. The only complaint I have is that you can not schedule backups to occur when you are logged off the system. Their solution seems to be to put the computer in "Standby" and set the scheduler to "wake" the sytem to perform the backup. This is not a viable solution for a system that needs to be visible as a network resource. I would like to schedule my backups to occur during the night, but I can't because if I logg off (for security reasons) the backup does not run. If I put it in "stanby" my computer is no longer available to other users. I know this is designed more for the home user, but it wouldn't have killed them to include a more flexible scheduler.
Rating: Summary: No tech support Review: Stomp's tech support is non-responsive and unable to resolve a problem I'm having with Backup MyPC software. Repeated emails to them result in no response or a stupid response - like uninstall and re-install the software. Been there done that, don't purchase this junk!
Rating: Summary: microsoft should study this software. Review: This is the easiest most user friendly software I have ever used.It does what it says it does and with ease.I had never backed up my files.Microsoft xp home has no backup feature. It took fifteen cd's and quite a few hours,But it made it an easy thing to do.Buy it.
Rating: Summary: Poor Product Review: This product does not support true disaster recovery. True disaster recovery is when a HD crashes or a new HD is installed you boot from recovery disks and restore the drive. This program REQUIRES that you have original installition disks on hand! Norton Ghost is a much better solution.
Rating: Summary: Does not work for all operating systems Review: This program does not work for all systems. Evidently there is some problems with OEM systems. If you go to their web site and find their forum you will find a they have a solution for XP Professional. It involves modifying the registry. You have to try to follow an animation rather than a step by step guide. My problem is with 2000 Professional. Backup PC will not start. I hope they develop a work around for 2000 Professional and a way to follow it without trying to keep up with the animation.
Rating: Summary: Superb product Review: This review is for the newest version 4.85. Veritas is the originator of this software. I have used their products for years and this was familiar right from the start. Did a complete system backup of 20GB on four DVD+RW media in just under four hours (including verification). Software provides progress report of the backup itself and the progress of each media. Extremely flexible for custom backups and provides for scheduled automatic backups (provided a blank CD or DVD is in the drive). Stomp Inc. has a website that allows you to check compatibility with your drive and download a trial version. Email support took a week to respond to a question I had during trial use. I don't find that acceptable but my question would not have been necessary had I been using the fully functional product instead of the 30 day free trial. I have since purchased and am using the full product. NOTE: Windows XP with Service Pack I installed will not allow the creation of disaster recovery disks. Stomp Inc. included a special bulletin on the restore procedure for those affected. This is not a deficiency in Stomp's software, but a limitation created by WindowsXP/I. I agree that retailers should disclose which version they are selling. My rating is for the software itself and I did not mark it down simply because Amazon.com is not providing as much information as they should.
