Summary: Very good game
Review: I have played the game since beta2, and it has done nothing but get better. This game is very much different than any other MMRPG out there, and I highly recommend you pick the game up.

Summary: Looks nice on the surface but....
Review: This game is literally RIDDLED with bugs and glitches. I've been playing this game since the later beta stages of testing and after release. I can tell you that this game never left the beta-testing stage even though it went live 27th June 2001. I have better things to do than pay 13 USD a month to participate in a beta test. Not only is the game flawed technicaly but another major problem is that the rules of the game changes fundamentaly every now and then without any warning. This becomes extremely frustrating when you have put alot of time into the design of your character because you have to "repair" it and try to overcome the problems introduced.

I do not recommend anyone to spend any money on this game. It borderlines theft to charge 13 USD pr month for this.

Sincerely
R

Summary: its junk
Review: Never have I played a game with such promise and with such poor execution.

Funcom's billing is horrendous - there's a good chance you will end up with all sorts of charges.

There is no support whatsoever. Email support and you may be lucky enough to get back an automated message a week later.

They have virtually no testing/QA. Recently they released a patch ON A FRIDAY which resulted in invulnerable mobs and a huge increase of mob vs pc power.

It's [junk]. Find something else.

Summary: Was Good, Isn't Now
Review: Well when this game launched it was shaky. Then the game got better and more stable. It was doing pretty good, up till recently. Someone in their administration is nuts.

Funcom decided after four months, to redesign the game mechanics. They completly nerfed the Agent class, making it useless to play. Then they started stating they would make drastic changes to the way armor and weapons are equiped. Players demanded they not do this, but they continued to make worse patches.

Recently they released patch 12.6 on a Friday (this is like the 5th time they've done this.) The patch literally made the game unplayable for anyone levels 30 or higher. People made low levels hoping Funcom would fix the game. They said they did, but it is still giving many of the same unplayable problems for mid-high levels.

They today, Funcom stated they will no longer allow users to comment on the problems on the boards. They are now censoring the messages on their boards.

Is the game good? Graphic wise yes. However the administration is so messed up they are making DRASTIC changes to the game without notice - devistating the time and money that players have put into the game. They don't test their patches before releasing, they release on patches on weekends making the game unplayable for days. They have already lost a lot of the player base. I supported Funcom all the way up till last week. Their behavior is inexcusable. The game is unplayable for many mid to high levels and now they censor comments on their site.

If you start playing they will no doubt nerf your class 2 months from now and change basic game mechanics, destroying the way you built up your characters. My advice... wait till Star Wars.

Summary: Thumbs down.
Review: I really wanted to love this game, and I gave it a lot of chances. But with absolutely ZERO customer support (none of my issues have ever been answered), a terrible track record for patches (12 of 12 have been failures), a total lack of the promised storyline, and play that manages to be both unimaginative and repetitive... this just isn't a good game.
It's a beautiful game, with great music... and no 'meat'.

Summary: I write this 3 months after the release of this game
Review: 75% of the game is not implemented and it's been out for 3 months when I write this. The game is highly unstable(constantly crashing, many times requiring a reboot), many promised features are not yet in the game or simply do not work, and the storyline hasn't started. The game is still BETA quality, there is ZERO customer support in game and out of game, and I doubt they even have a quality assurance team considering that each patch has been horrible and needed an emergency patch to patch the patch. There have been multiple exploits allowing people to: gain levels easily, dupe items, dupe tokens(if you collect enough you get stat/skill bonuses). Many of these serious exploits have remained in the game for weeks at a time before a change is made. I'm just outlining issues I feel are the most important, there are many more issues with this game... if I detailed every flaw of the game this review would undoubtedly be 2000 words long.

The game had lots of potential in the beginning, and I had faith that the development team could turn the game around... but after many broken promises/bad patches and 3 months of waiting for them to fix things I've finally realized its just not going to happen. The development/management team has proven without a doubt that they haven't a clue as to what they are doing.

I can honestly say that this is the worst game I've ever bought. Do not buy this game. I repeat, do not buy this game.

You have been warned.

Summary: This game had a lot of potential...
Review: ...but it has been squandered by a lethal combination of poor coding, ignoring beta-testers and test-server players (patches go live with horrendous bugs in them that are reported and discussed on the test server forum), and providing NONEXISTENT customer service.

It's gotten so bad lately that Funcom has started Censoring (moderating and only allowing certain posts to appear) their Forums because they are afraid the complaints will scare away customers for their European launch.

Summary: A GAME THAT PROMISED TO BE THE KING BUT IS NOT EVEN CLOSE
Review: First i would refer anyone to go to the offical web site forums and read the posts.as for the game i wish to note that it has dropped in less then 3 months to half the price which i have never seen happen to any of the other mmrpg in the market.the game lacks online support,is very buggy, still laggy and after a few levels there is nothing to do in this game.the game is suffering massive loss of subscribers and been a mmrpg it was hard for me to even bother to stay on itas i se the game folding fast.they are hoping a lot on its european release to save the game and for a game that was the most awaited game in the market this is sad.the game basically was very overhyped and only a few ever knew about the gameplay of it and most people lived in what was promised.sadly on release it have shown total lack of potential.

Summary: Started off with promise, went straight down hill from there
Review: When I first purchased the game I could not get it to work. I had to upgrade my system significantly and still experience problems today.

AO has wonderful graphics but I keep crashing all the time. I have put up with this because the company keeps releasing statements that they are working on these problems. However, at each patch the performance problems get worse.

Performance issues aside, my profession has been "nerfed" so many times that any strategy I come up with to advance becomes quickly unplayable... the rules of the game keep changing, which is very frustrating.

This game has no customer support. Responses to ingame calls to the GM go unanswered for up to 7 days. There is no customer support number. Support emails are answered with boilerplate automatic emails. The game does not include a manual.

There is no 4-year epic. The company keeps assuring everyone they will be starting the storyline soon. At this point, everyone is so frustrating, I don't think anybody cares if they do or don't.

I've wasted my money and 2 months of my time.

Do not buy this game.
