Summary: Great Game
Review: My husband and I have been playing EQ since it's original release date. We switched to it from Ultima Online, and I have to say that it is one of the best games we have ever gotten involved with. No matter what massive online RPG you play, there are bound to be some quirks and problems, but over all I have found EQ to be the a most enjoyable game to play. We are looking forward to Scars of Velious, and any future additions. This is an awesome game, and a great opportunity to play with some terrific people from all around the world.

Summary: Verant Stinks-But EverQuest is Awesome
Review: Okay, I run a [website] based in part on EverQuest. I am not a big fan of Verant and some of thier decisions regarding the game play are downright idiotic. However, this is still the best online game on the market by far and away. It's not Verant that makes this game good it is the interaction between people that makes it good. The broken quests in the game are few and far between. And sure there are a lot of bugs in it. Most of these bugs are documented and well known and the few major bugs that are left are in the game engine. The Major problems with the game are really only two... The spindoctoring/poor customer service of the game issues by Verant and finding enough time to play the addictive thing. Now, on to Scars... Scars of Velious you will find to be a Linear Dungeon... You must complete point A before going to Point B. They first tried this format with the keys being required to go into Selibus, Veeshan's Peak, and Howling Stones in Kunark. The Format works well in one respect. It reduces the amount of People in a given zone. The graphics are supposed to get a lot better in Scars because they are requiring a upgrade in your DirectX software. As with any major Verant Release expect this one to be buggy the first two or three weeks, after that they will have most of the major bugs ironed out and Patched.

Summary: Everquest--Worst Game I've Played
Review: Here's the lowdown on Everquest: 1) You can really write a dissertation like Phillip Cooper says about the flaws of EQ--that eventually turn the game into a drag. But I think the big flaw of EQ is that it's like the old D&D games--BUT run by a 13-year old sadistic Dungeon Master who delights in player killing, broken quests, and an environment where the player is way-underpowered compared to monsters (by EQ design to force grouping)! I'm an avid game player: Go, chess, Panzer General, Diablo, Vampire: Redemption--you name it--and I grew to *hate* EQ because of the way the game is setup. I feel that EQ is not fair 100 fold over any other game I've played. You can spend hours doing a quest (versus camping) and receive a sliver of experience (and a crummy rusty weapon). Or you can find out the quest is broken. Recently a player asked the EQ customer support lackey if they would publish which quests were broken. A reasonable enough request, no? The lackey replied that this was not possible as telling which quests were broken would be giving away tooooo much information. This is sadly typical of the attitude EQ has. If you would like to play a game run by sadistic designers who put out a bug-ridden product--then by all means buy EQ. You'll waste a lot of time before you're writing your own EQ horror stories here (the EQ bulletin boards are full of 'em). All of these stories are not by whiners--or by power gamers. Everyone has complaints about EQ--at least those who play enough. The good thing about EQ is whenever you're sick of getting stiffed and switch games you'll find you appreciate other games more.

Summary: GET THIS ADDON!!!!
Review: Ok this is an addon to the RPG Game of the year EverQuest. It is going to run on the Kunark video engine with all new models and skins on the guys. If you like EverQuest GET THIS!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: You only need to have the first Everquest installed
Review: Sharon Mach, in order to play this expansion, you will only need to have the first CD of Everquest installed on your computer. You do not have to have Ruins of Kunark on your computer to play this expansion.

The Ruins of Kunark expansion gave you the ability to adventure on a new continent as well as allowing you to level your character to 60 instead of the previous cap of 50.

The Scars of Velious will be another added continent based on an ice landscape with approximately 16 to 17 zones. The lowest level zone (and the most accessable zone) in Velious has been designed for characters level 30 to 35. There are rumors of a zone that will give level 60 characters a run for their money.

Summary: Rating due to past experiences of EQ
Review: Okay, here's the gist of things. EQ finally got to a point where it was almost bug free.......then out comes ROK. They still run patch after patch trying to fix little problems, and graphics glitches....and then they come out with yet ANOTHER expansion? Don't we get the picture yet? It's not about quality of gameplay, people.........it's about the bottom line. I could go into a 5 page dissertation on why I despise Verant and their company, and why the majority of people who are looking for a good gameplaying experience will walk away shaking their heads sadly....at the potential wasted, but I digress. Fix the car before doing a brand new paint job. Otherwise, you have something that LOOKS real great.......but goes nowhere.

Summary: In counter to Badgerboy
Review: While this game is not yet out and so I don't reallyhave the knowledge to review it, I would like to counter the review written in here earlier. Everquest is the most dynamic game that I have ever had the oppurtunity to play. The graphics are awe-inspiring at times to behold. The gameplay is very well laid out and improvements are made in the game on an almost weekly basis via patches. To all the negatives mentioned in the other review, yes, sometimes Everquest can be tedious doing the same thing over and over. But i think that this person did not play extensiviely on EQ to reach those higher levels. Of course at an early level you find your self doing the same thing. You have to do that in order to gain levels and reach adulthood (lvl20 where u gain your surname). After that the fun is exponential. There are so many zones to visit in the game and so many other interesting players to meet and group with you will never be bored.

I do hear a lot of complaints in game, on the chats, and on webpage forums by people complaining about class balance, why they dont have better armor/weapons all the time. It's these 'power-gamers' that gives this game a bad rep. The fun to be had in Everquest is not to see how many cool weapons, sick armor, awesome wands, etc. that you can get-but instead an immersion in a world of Dynamic proportion. If you want to powergame go buy Baldur's Gate get all the cheat codes then go on your merry way with plate+4 and a holy avenger...If you want to have fun in a multiplayer immense world that is the closest resemblance to the pen and paper games I used to love playing as a teenager, buy Everquest. This new expansion pack brings more exciting developments into a game that I've played for 10 months and still haven't seen everything there is to see. Woo boy now another whole continent for my 30+ characters to explore? Wow and I thought I was an addict before =) Do yourself a favor if you never want to spend time on any other games and don't buy EQ. Otherwise, grab EQ, Ruins of Kunark, and this new expansion and get ready to have the best time you have ever had in a game.

Summary: I would not buy this game
Review: First of all, this is only an expansion and it is an online-only game. Secondly, the company behind this game has a very poor history of customer support. If you take the time to do some research on the some Everquest's messageboard's...you'll discover the game has a lot of bugs. Verant Interactive, the company behind the game, frequently bans players from the game for little to no reasons, and cares little for their customers. I strongly recommend Asheron's Call, Ultima Online, or one of the upcoming role-playing games to this.

Summary: Enough Bum Info This is the Truth
Review: First off i must say that this game is THE best game ive ever played...no matter if the game is action..Unreal Tournament....or real time strategy...Age of Empires II ..no other game i have ever played comes anywhere near. This is what i have to say:

For all of you that have ever played Asherons Call or are still playing it....do yourself a favor and throw that game in the Trash and buy this one...it is a BIG improvement. I know becuase i played asherons call and that game is pale in comparison to what this game has to offer. At first when i started to play EQ i was astounded by the actual look and gameplay of it...beautiful cascading colors and enemies that actually look like what they are. I also heard rumors that you had to group to gain levels...you dont..it is an option and when i first started playing i wanted to solo everything and not worry about joining a group. But as ive played further and further in the game now i have way much more fun talking and interacting with others as i fight the monsters. This brings me to my next point...you will never get sick of this game...and the possibilities are endless on what type of character you can play and how to improve your weaponry and armament ...even if you get to 60th level which is the highest ..the game doesnt end there is still much more stuff for you to do. The amount of time you can spend playing this game is endless ..truly.. endless. There is only one downfall of this game and that is one thing...it is unbelievably addictive you will play this game so much you wont want to do anything else. So in closing i must say to all of you out there that say "camping" and "lag" are problems with this game....you must be pretty ignorant. Lag is something that is not a problem in the least ...play asherons call then you will fear lag. And in any online rpg you will always fing campers which means one thing...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE there are tuns of places to go to for experience so if you have a problem with camping you obviously know nothing about how the game is played and whatever obstacle you cant overcome in this game is your own fault..use your brain and common sense and you will overcome anything...When truly there is nothing to overcome in the first place if you have an IQ above 60. Hopefully you will listen to my advice and buy this game...its really fun and you wont buy another game for a long time.... youll be playing this one for years.

Summary: Add "dated" to its flaws!
Review: Everquest has many problems (see the reviews of Ruins of Kunark) especially among players who have played it for some time. Some of the ones stated in the 80 reviews or so (currently) are: overcamping, internet lag (which will literally kill you), broken quests, corpse running, large amount of down time meditating and healing, and forcing players to group up at higher levels. Although players often suggest improvements, Verant's customer support is notoriously bad and anti-player. The only way to remedy some of EQ's faults would be to design a new game--one with the same depth and possibilities but without the disadvantages of EQ. If the game administrators weren't so anti-player EQ could be a fun game to play. Scars in order to be consistent must be more of the same and whereas EQ when it first came out over two years ago was a breath of fresh air compared to Ultima Online--the novelty of EQ has worn off. Though they may remain playing, most EQ players will have terrible stories to tell . Although we may expect to see expanded and better graphics with Scars--that's not really where the problem lies with EQ. And it's not even remotely possible that EQ will be better with Scars because the game administrators consider player complaints as so much whining. I played EQ for a while, but I noticed I wasn't having a good time--simply doing the same thing over and over and over again (while dying from Internet lags, random high level monsters killing me while I meditated, and resisted spells). I resent it, because EQ could be a good game.
