Summary: What an RPG Should Be
Review: In opposition to Fantasy Reading Fanatatic, I believe that RPGs *should* be open-ended, with less storyline than most (FFx, for example) do. Even Baldur's Gate and such are too story-heavy for me -- not to say that background and 'main quest' lines are bad, but being locked out of parts of the game just because you haven't done the right stuff yet ...

I believe a *great* RPG is one that lets you do literally whatever you want -- lets you get totally immersed in your character, and, like in the real world, get yourself over your head in trouble. Obviously, this is not for everyone -- go play FF or D&D computer games. But, for those of us who enjoy creating our *own* story, rather than having it written for us, Morrowind is the best thing out there -- by far. I love the fact that I can be a thief, and literally steal stuff at random, or be an upright noble fighter, and never steal anything or kill anyone who doesn't attack me first. No other RPG lets you do that to the extent Morrowind does ...

Summary: Best game yet
Review: PROS:

This has got to be one of the best RPG's I've ever played. The graphics, storyline, character development, and freedom of choice are incredible. The graphics combine real time play and state of the art movement! The landscapes are very well done, with a HUGE world to explore. The freedom of choice, to follow the main story line or not, and the ability to choose quests is quite unique. You can be a hero, god, or dirtball, what ever you want. The quests are exciting and intrigueing, with lots of bounty or knowledge to gain. There are hours of entertainment, and it can be addicting.

CONS:

You've got to have up to date graphics and sound cards, with a good bit of memory to make the play go smoothly. There are some technical glitches that can be quite frustrating (save it many times over). On the upside, there is a good deal of technical support from Bethesda, and the forums.

If you decide to be your own adventurer, and not do the main quest, you've got no worries. Otherwise, make your decisions wisely.

Summary: BORING!!
Review: Honestly did the people who reviewed this game all work for Bethesda Software Inc.? How the heck did it average so many stats? This is the dumbest game I have ever played! Why? This is supposed to be an RPG, RPG's are supposed to have storylines.

Here is the basic storyline (about as far as I could gag through it) You're this dude dropped off by a boat (no idea who you are) they tell you to go see this dude in another city, and you go see him and he is like hey go beef up your stats, then (I was a mage) I go to the mages guild to beef up and they send me on errands picking flowers and collecting mushrooms??? What the heck, could this game start a little slower? Finally I've beefed up so I go back to the dude and he tells me to talk to another dude and he says uhhhhhhh go pick up this box, then I'll talk to you...i'm on the way to pick up this box (I've been playing the game for probably 3-4 hours) and I freak out...mental breakdown right there on the spot. If I never actually made it to the good stuff (as some of you who thought this game was fun might say) why the heck does it take over 4 hours??? A game should enthrall me the moment I put it in!

I have to admit however the graphics are dang sexy! Real weather patterns, beautifal outdoor scenes, but come on folks if all I wanted to see was pretty outdoor scenes I'd go hiking. P>Don't buy it! I wasted my money.

Summary: Great game, beware quest tracking
Review: Upon first playing Morrowind I enjoyed the flexibility of character creation, and enjoyed exploring the 3D environment. Morrowind develops skills by use, which is common in massive multiplayer RPGs (ex: Everquest) but novel for single-player. The game tracks quest completion very poorly - no place to check whats in progress. I felt lost and stopped playing for a time, thinking Morrowind was a great game but lacked something.

When I played the game, noting down the name of each quest, the game achieved its potential. I strongly recommend writing down the place you get each quest, the name of the quest, and the town/person involved in fufilling the quest. You can use the in-game journal to get details based off the quest name. But you definitely need quests tracked, so you can cross them off and know whats left. When you wander around the map with five guild quests in progress, you'll forget some details that a scrap of paper can retain.

The character creation is incredibly flexible, allowing spell-wielding martial artists to heavily armoured fighters, to stealthy thieves or archers. You gain levels by using your primary skills (which you can select, or let the game pick). There are no experience points, but fighting can improve your fighting and armor skills, and gain you levels that way. Although it would be odd, you could gain a level by jumping off cliffs for experience in acrobatics.

Very flexible, novel gaming experience, and be sure to keep track of your quests on paper.

Summary: Excellent Game
Review: This Game is extremely excellent, due to the fact that it is so open ended. You can do pretty much whatever you feel like doing, you don't have to do any of the main quest if you really don't feel like it. Their arent' too many games like that, and that, i think, is why it is so damn addictive. I would reccomend you buy this game. It is well worth it, especially if you have an XBOX. If you have a PC, make sure you have a pretty good one with at least 256 MB's of ram. Get it now. Ton of armors.

Summary: I love this game
Review: I switched to this game after over a year playing EQ, and what a difference. The graphics are wonderful. The game is engrossing due to the fact you can play it any way you want to and there is rich content that changes based on your actions. Most important, what I found absent in role playing games on line is that no one role plays. In Morrowind, because the many NPCs are computer generated, they are always "in character." So you can really lose yourself in a fantasy environment without anyone ruining it by showing up with "Dude I am uber I pwned this zone." If you like total immersion in a fantasy world with an actual storyline that has twists and turns, as opposed to the mindless pursuit of levels and gear, this game is for you.

Summary: If You are thinking of buying this game READ!!!
Review: First of all this game, in my opilion, is great. It is a first person RPG. It is one of the best games I have ever come across. Now is what dont understand is that either people hate the game, or they love it. Nobody thinks the game is just O.K. The game is a bit weird though, it is in midiebil times but there are these half human half creatures running around, that is what I think is weird. So review the game more to see if you really think you want to buy it or not, because you could be one of the people that hate it. Im just trying to help.

nyways the thing i like about this game the best is the music and sound combined with the graphics to make the game perfect, almost, the one thing I hate about this game is that you have to have a higher end system to run it. I have a 1.7Ghz processor and a geforce2 mx400 32mb. 256mb (133) sdram. And it runs kind of choppy at times and it takes its sweet time to load when I walk outside. But other than that it is the tightest game I have probably ever played.

Summary: Morrowind is just boring
Review: I find the graphics to be amazing - but the story is boring and not very easy to follow. It's really easy to mess up and accidentally kill someone crucial to the game later on, which is lame. Basically I was pretty underwhelmed. I bought it because someone said it was like a first person Diablo. NO way. It was not worth the money to me. I am going to try to sell it and buy Dungeon Siege.

Summary: Big disapointment... (buy Neverwinter Nights instead!)
Review: This was worst thing i ever bought in my life! I admit the grahics are pretty awsome(and thats why i gave it two stars), but the storyline is just boring and the battles are just to confusing. When you fight you have to click to make a jab,and after 2 min. of that i just want to turn my computer off. Neverwinter Nights is way better!
