Review: RTS games dont get much better than this. well balanced, unique races who even get their resources differently, vieing for dominance across a really awsome-looking 3D landscape (and i'm just going by the beta!) if youre a warcraft fan get the collectors edition while u still can! theres concept art a cenimatics DVD, a coffee table book (great, according to "Marn"). what more can i say then buy this!

Summary: Blizzard is stealing your money
Review: Ok...Blizzard makes games that are fun to play and all...but they're just rehashes of the same old thing. Ever played WarCraft 2? WarCraft 3 is the same thing, with a few new ideas in place and a 3-D engine. StarCraft was the same thing with a sci-fi twist...and they keep making their games ever easier just to appeal to a wider audience.

Any person that sucks at games can pick up and play a Blizzard game (except for the original WarCraft) and that's the way they want it - so they can make more money from the hordes of fans they have. Its nice to know that Blizzard does their best to stop hacking, but they've given up on stopping StarCraft and Diablo 2 hackers...what makes you think they'll help out anyone else? Go online with WarCraft 3 the first day, and expect the servers to crash, but you have fun being one of the ignorant masses.

Well, that's all for my rant, thanks for reading.

Review: Blizzard made so many great games, this game will rock too just because they've never disappointed me.

The CE is ... more than the regular game so if you plan on buying the game, you might as well get this. DUH! It's a no-brainer.

Summary: If its anything like the others....
Review: If this instalment of the Warcraft series is anything like the others, then no amount of words could give it praise. The graphics are phanominal, and the textures are beutifull. The unit tax I'm not shure about, and the unit cap, geeze only 90? What were they thinking, but its livable at least. It should be realy nice in multi-player, keep the (bad-guys) from rushing you. But why they put it in single player is amiss to me. I hope I get my copy asap cause im dying to kill something with the human wizard, what can I say Im a sucker for mass teleportation and ice falling from the skies. I don't know if there was a multi-player option for the other games cause I never played them on the PC, (PS only at the time) but I think that playing against someone other then AI is going to be more of a challenge, becuase no one ever makes the same move, or mistake twice. Not only do you have to attack and clear there bariers, but ready yourself for a counter attack and hope it never comes. You can also "build" stretigic entrences using forest or streams and AI will just blindly go that way, but human opponents might just build there own way into your base, using plebs choping lumber. Then rush in and take you, while your looking for an attack to come from your "trap" door. "Soldiers of Azeroth, we stand at the forefront of the greatest battle since the Orcs invaded and were pushed back through the dark portal. Stand, Fight alongside your bretheren, and prepare yourselves. Some of you will not survive, but with your deaths you buy the freedome for generations to come. And fear not my brothers we will avenge your deaths with those of our enemys."

Summary: Blizzard pulls it off
Review: I have played the multiplayer Beta version, and I definately love this game. The four races (Human, Orc, Night Elf, and Undead) are all fun to command and conquer. Also included are "creeps," who contrary to popular belief do not "roam the screen destroying buildings" but in actuality stand around and guard unused goldmines. This prevents you from just sending a peasant (or Peon [Orcish], Acolite [Undead], Wisp [Night Elf]) to go and build an expansion up. The scenery is very cool. Also, heroes give the game a certain edge over other RTS's.

Let me take you through the beginning of a normal game -
When you start out, you'll have five peasants and a Town Hall (if you are Human). You'll begin to collect gold from your nearby goldmine and collect wood while you build a barracks and alter (Lets you train heroes.) You'll quickly develop an army and attack some creeps at a nearby expansion.

Summary: From a Beta Tester
Review: I signed up for the beta test on a whim. I am not a gamer and this was a whole new experience to me. The game is phenomenally addicting.
The graphics are remarkably realistic and with a very new high end gaming platform the game whizzes along. I have been playing since January 2002 and have noticed several issues. First, large online multiplayer games tend to lag down to speed of the lowest computer which can be incredibly annoying. Second, since the first day of beta release Blizzard has struggled with balance. There are four different "races" each with I believe 10 different unit types and as many different buildings. Then each race has threee different "Heroes" with multiple different "spells". Mathematically the game is a phenomenally complex multidimensional matrix. Inevitably, gamers have found strengths and weaknesses to exploit in this complexity leading to what is know as "Cheesy" gameplay, meaning the ability to defeat one's opponents not through skill but through exploitation of the game's inevitable balance problems (example... early in the beta the "Undead" "Necromancer" could produce unlimited numbers of "Skeleton warriors" which would almost always lead to victory (this problems was fixed)).
These issues won't however be apparent to the average new user (at least until he or she becomes an addict) but they frustrated me and, sigh, led me to play the game all the more.
Overall, aside from Chess, this is the best game I have ever played.

Summary: single-player campaign NO SPOILERS
Review: .
I have finished playing the first 3 campaign chapters of the single player campaign mode of Warcraft III. I LIKE IT! It starts off with a prologue, where you get to play Thrall/Orcs, after about an hour of playing, you then start playing Arthas/Human Prince as the story continues to evolve ... then on the third chapter after about 1/2 day and several levels of continuous playing, you play the Undead campaign as the story continues. I don't want to spoil it, coz I like it for the story, so I won't reveal any spoilers.

Pros:
1. Great story line (so far). This is what I really like about it. The quests using your Hero make the game even more interesting.
2. The graphics, set at max detail, using my GeForce3 64mb TI200, P3-550mhz, 256mb RAM, are alright and smooth.
3. The character development is good, the game really focuses on the Heroes you play rather than amassing huge armies to destroy your enemies.
4. It isn't tiring, except for about 3 levels (hence the 4 star rating I am giving) out of about 14 plus levels I have played so far which are:
4a. Beating an Undead Lord to killing/getting 100 zombies (Human campaign) -and-
4b. Getting to the inner gate of the Elves by collecting 3 mooncrystals (Undead campaign) -and-
4c. Killing a bunch of Hero Orcs to get to an Orc Gate (Undead campaign). This is where I stopped playing. This will likely take me an hour at least.

Cons:
1. Many of the "cinematics" in between levels are mostly the actual while-in-the-game characters you play (not the fully 3D rendered cinematics ie. 3DStudio)... so they look really funny when they are running, and they "bounce" at lot. In short, the physics and dynamics of the animation aren't that great looking.
2. During the campaigns, I have a limit of "90" food, even if you have more than 9 "farms". This translates to a smaller army.

Bottom line:

I hate to say it, but in a multi-player game, I think the Undead is the way to go. Personally, I'm pro-Human and pro-Orc. I can't wait to BUY the Collector's Edition for the DVD and the music CD. I wish someone out there can tell us more about the contents of these extras. There are some really well rendered cinematics and nice music at the end of chapter 2 (Human campaign).

This review is based on Warcraft III v.1.00 Single Player Campaign mode.
