Summary: Warcraft 3
Review: Warcraft 3 is sooooo sweet. I stayed up until 3:30 in the morning last night and I had to go to work at six. Buy it. Play it. Own people on battle.net. It's a great game all the way around :)

Summary: now this IS a collector's edition of a great game!
Review: yes, warcraftIII was announced back in '99 and was said to have 3d graphics in a RTS game. that scared me at first, and since then i have ignored everything that had to do with the game, until i saw this collector's edition. sure the package will be gone soon but the items that are inside are well worth the money. you get a high quality coffee table book featuring concept and finished art pieces, a special edition manual "signed" by the developers. (its not hand signed by the way), you also get the soundtrack on a separate CD and 4 limited edition of prints of each race, cinematic DVD, and of course the game itself, all in a high-quality card-board box. now the game: Warcraft is like all strategy games. the only big difference is the slight "RPG" feeling when playing with heroes. heroes can go up in level and can learn spells as they go up in level. this would be the only big difference. the cut scenes are excellent and the voice acting is really good. overall if you are new to RTS games or are a veteran, get this game, or the collector's edition if possible.

Summary: THIS COLONEY SHALL FALL BEFORE MY EYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Warcraft III is one of the best games I've ever played. Its graphics are great and has a good plot. It's like Starcraft. And as amatter of fact one of the levels in Warcraft III is almost identical to one of the levels on Starcraft. I even reccomend both games and I reccomend practically all of Blizzard Entertainment's games. (They're the people who made all the Warcraft games, all the Starcraft games and all the Diablo games.) You should buy them all!

Summary: Where is Warcraft II?
Review: This is my first impression, based on the tutorial and the human campaign.

Heroes are so powerful that building is not so important. You stack your hero with five units and almost forget the buildings. The whole thig looks like a RPG, but Baldur's Gate is much better. Levels are poor: few new spells or abilities, compared with Baldur's Gate or Heroes of Might and Magic.

The graphics are technically fine, but they look childish. The hero in the tutorial seems to come from Sesame Street, and the whole thing looks like a console manga game. Why do characters in video sequences have a shadow with the shape of a star?

Why do people think that 3D rendered images are better then 2D? I think they are so unnatural...

I think they have missed their target in changing the look.

Summary: Best Game Ever
Review: This game is easily learned and is extremely fun. Like the other Warcrafts, it has orcs and humans, but introduces two new races. It also brings in a whole new world of strategy with heroes. A great storyline, excellent gameplay and graphics. A must-buy and the collector's edition is even better because of the extras. Like all Blizzard games, the movies are great and have unlimited fun factor and replayability.

Summary: Amazing
Review: Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is the new standard in RTS gamming. The collectors edition is worth it, the soundtrack is superb. You don't play warcraft, you experience warcraft.

Summary: Classy package for a classic game
Review: I just picked this up in a store in Burbank about 3 hours ago. I was a player in the beta, and I loved how Blizzard shook up the old, VERY tired RTS genre. The world doesn't need another StarCraft clone, and Blizzard doesn't need to make one -- they own the franchise, after all.

Warcraft III IS different: The heroes aren't just named ordinary units, like they are in StarCraft, but rather they are semi-RPG characters dropped into the game, that can level up and acquire new items. During the beta, nothing was more fun than finding a StarCraft player who ignored the value of a hero unit: One level 8 hero and a small entourage of units with him could easily demolish whole armies and towns that the StarCraft player was dutifully pumping out.

I am about halfway through the first of the four campaigns in single player, and so far, the Human campaign has a nice variety in its levels, with some featuring no building or traditional RTS play at all, but just RPG play. The plot is strong and it draws you into the game. Needless to say, the amazing cinematics and the cool in-game cinematics help out a lot in that regard.

If you pick up the Collector's Edition -- and you should, since the game plus the book it includes are almost the same price -- you get a beautiful fake leather box (it's HEAVY), the game with an autographed manual, The Art of Warcraft art book, a DVD of the cinematics -- BEAUTIFUL! -- a CD soundtrack and four art prints that are the covers of the regular edition. The art book is for sale seperately at Amazon and is a great book, full of pictures I've never seen in 7 years of playing Warcraft. And as I said before, buying the book plus the game is almost the same price. For a little bit more, you get all the Collector's Edition extras!

GameSpy and PC Gamer are already giving this game 90+ reviews and what I've seen so far from the multiplayer beta and the Human campaign, I have to agree. This is a must-buy for gamers!

Summary: Good game but nothing special
Review: I have finished the single player campion and here are some of my impressions:

1) The graphics is surely a big improvement over the previous Blizzard games. But it is not truly 3D, the 3D environment doesn't play a role on how the units act.
2) The four playable races are not very balanced. Some are definitely stronger than the others. The unit generation and interface are very similar to Starcraft, each races are different but still in the same models of the three races in Starcraft.
3) There are plenty of units but all pretty standard. I actually think the units in starcraft are much more versatile and exciting.
4) The storyline is semi-complete at most. Major heros pretty much just dissapear after their particular campion(until the last level, which is a dissapointment, see later notes). And the major bad guys didn't even make an appearance yet. Guess Blizzard is saving all of them for WC4 or an expansion pack.
5) The levels are not well designed. There are not that much varieties. The last level is very dissapointing since it's a defense level, you just need to last 45 minutes and a big part of this 45 minutes are played by computers. (You can help, but not command).
6) Although Blizzard said that Heros play a major part in the strategy, in Multiplayer mode, it probably won't matter since you won't have time to develop your hero and they are pretty weak to start with.

Overall, if you are a rts game fan, this game is probably worth it; if not, you may want to wait later to pick up a [lower priced] copy when the price goes down.
