Summary: OSI fails
Review: Well I started playing this game before all of the UO grandeur, and that is what I truley miss. With each of the subsequent upgrades and patches, I believe UO has gone down in rank bringing it alas to the humble rating of one star. This newest version is perhaps the worst debacle to visit the virtual world that is Ultima Online, and to anyone who has witnessed the mayhem inherent to Age of Shadows will understand of what I speak. If you are knew to this gameplay experience then I tell you you have already missed the best of what was to offer and furthermore it will never return. This version of Ultima Online was a debacle from the point when I "preordered" it. With a slew of daily bugs and client crashes, I'm sure everyone who purchases this game will be quite disappointed. To those who have permanently quit the UO community I can't say that I blame you. Oh and ask yourself: "I wonder why EA removed the daily opinion poll from the Age of Shadows website?"

Summary: Best MMORPG
Review: All I have to say is this: Ultima Online is the best MMORPG out there. Wow, Asheron's Call 2 and DAOC have better graphics.. thats nice.. but no offense to players of those games, they are HORRIBLE! I played both for about two months each... and I got bored. Been playing UO for at least 4 years now.

Summary: More frustrating than fun
Review: If you are into frustration, you should play this game. I played for 13 months, and the only reason I hung on for so long was the promise of a new version with more land and better game play. Instead what we got was the same old thing. The players with the cheats got all the new land, and the rest of us got left out in the cold. The lag became unbearable even with my dsl connection. Connections kept getting dropped. It is a mess. After 13 months of nightly play to try to build up my character, putting up with all the rude people and trying to earn enough money to buy a house when age of shadows came out and to find out that 1 day after it did come out all the land was gone, I decided to cancel. I am now one of the thousands of FORMER UO players. DO NOT EVER start playing any version of this game. You'll wish you hadn't.

Summary: Where is the game???
Review: I pre-ordered this game 2 weeks ago to be delivered on 2-12. Now it's the 13th and the game hasn't even shipped. Needless to say I'm not a happy customer.

Summary: Still the Ultimate
Review: First let's talk replay value. The game's been going five years, and there are still veteran players like myself hooked to the game, it's never ending story, and in-(and out of) game friends. Some people don't like it saying it's tedious, or boring, or has no ending so it's unfulfilling. Then take your short attention span and go play Diablo 2, beat the game, and try to keep playing 5 years non-stop, you'll see the difference. UO is not just a game it's the closest to an alternate world we've come. Buld a house, make friends, work at your occupation (you make your own hours and take breaks whenever, lol) and if that's not the life you want go kill monsters or go to Felucca and kill each other. Huzzah.
Ten dollars a month is much cheaper than the fifty to a hundred you'd constantly be shelling out for the newest, flashiest coolest pseudo RPG's in a vain attempt at gaming excitement that fades after a few playings. Go with UO, you won't regret it.

Summary: Don't buy it if you are looking for a house !!!!!!!!
Review: Only a few hours after the release of Age of Shadows, the new landmass MALAS was completely full already. Do not buy it if you are hoping to find a nice lot. Why do I still give 3 Stars ? If you already have a house, it is a great expansion for customizing its look.

Summary: if it aint broke don't fix it
Review: This game when it first came out was simply great and remained great for a year or two and then they decided to "up-date" the game or to "improve" it which the 2nd age was a wonderful update but everything after that was down hill from there and the more they update it the worse they make it I realize there just trying to improve it but the game was better back before UO: Renissance came out and everything they have done since then including UO:R has been a major dissapointment and this new Age of Shadows update is without a doubt the worst one yet and i definetly suggest you not purchase this game unless you are already a UO player and are already deeply involved with a house(es) and extensive fortune if not play another game this one is as the title imply's only a shadow of it's former glory

Summary: Waste of Cash
Review: OSI really Drolled the ball on this way, they have NO CLUE what the players want or how do get it done, the Shards have been down for 2 days now, and no clue when they'll be back up, the Bugs and issues are Everywhere, and they are in "closed ranks" people are quitting left and right and they refuse to answer the simplest Questions... STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME.

Summary: "Age of Shadows" spreads light on a new world.
Review: After being emerged for a year with UO's - "Lord Blackthorn," I am sitting on the edge of my chair for UO's newest release - "AoS". The changes are numberous within the System, and the new characters, and monsters are more than you can image. {A new world, and a new dungeon to explore.} There's one problem though, only 24 hours in a day ... and you have to sleep some time!

Summary: Best MMPORPG: 60 months and counting
Review: I have played this game for over five years. I can't even remember how different I was, but still I'm in the world of Britania. That's how much there is to this game. The game is skill based. It's very easy to get a character started and achieve a reasonable level of competance within a month or so (if you powergame you can actually max your character out in a few weeks). Whether you can go into the most dangerous and interesting areas depends more on your ability to find companions than your ability to "churn xp" for months on end. When other games have broken tradeskills, UO has a player economy that provides the vast majority of what you use and wear as a player--you can play this game and be entertained by doing nothing but crafting. (You can play other games as a crafter, but I wouldn't say you'd be entertained by it.) Where other games promise horses or have just introduced them, UO features horses, ostards, llamas, dragons, Ki Rin, Ridgebacks, giant beetles, swamp dragons and Unicorns as rideable mounts. You want one of these? You'll have to tame it in the wild or buy it from another player who's done so. The interface is a bit primitive, the graphics tiny. But it's one of those games that just has lasting power. 60 months after I first heard the UO music play, I can think of hundreds of places I've never gotten around to visit, and types of characters I've never played. All in all, it's a great game. It may not be for everyone--certainly if you judge a game on graphics, it won't be. But if you haven't experienced it and you're looking for something beyond endless "pulling" and "camping" then give it a try. You might be surprised. Since there's a lot of confusion about "which UO should I buy?" UO: AOS is the complete game, with all supplements and both full 2d and 3d clients. If you buy it, you have everything. If you were a former player of UO, there is so much that has changed. The Player Killers are relegated to their own world. There is more housing than ever and it's now customizable. The changes to the game with AOS have made monster hunting far more challenging. Melee characters now have special moves. There are new paladin and necromancer character skills. And the 3d client is really at a place where almost everyone agrees it's ready for prime time. It's a good time to come to Britania for your first visit or return after a long hiatus.
