Summary: My most favorite game
Review: This game is far superior to any other game that I have played. Basically, you have to climb your way up the ladder of criminals and eventually meet the girl who told you to "get lost" in the very beginning of the game. You do this by working for people, doing missions like the one below:

- Find an icecream truck
- Steal it
- Drive it around where these people are located
- Get out of the truck & hide
- Once the people get to the truck, blow it up (hence, killing them)

Yes, that does sound a bit odd.. However, the game makes that funny with its "interface", if you will. The sound quality is excellent, and the graphics are unmatched.

Anyway, I only have the PS2 version. I must say that if you want to run this game properly, buy the PS2 version instead of the PC version. It seems that many people are complaining about the quality of the PC version.

Summary: Awesome!!!
Review: This game is simply the best there is. The only drawback is the requirments. I have a 900mhz AMD Athalon cpu and I have to run minimum graphics and its still a bit jumpy.

Summary: Those are lies..........
Review: My computer is a 864 MHZ, with a Pentium 3 processor, with 15 GB free disk space and 128 MB RAM and this game works GREAT! In the beginning the game speed was very choppy but i called up their technical support and they gave my quick advice and now it is great. No more waiting for it to load or anything. I even have the older NVIDIA display chip, the NVIDIA GeForce 256 and all that i did is i went to NVIDIA.com and downloaded a newer version and now the game is great. If anyone is having trouble running their GTA3 on their computer, and your computer has at least the recommended reguirements, then you should just call up the tech support and ask them what to do. They will give you some instructions and help you out.

Have fun!

Summary: Maybe the best video game of all time
Review: It's been a while since a video game took over my life. The last time (besides every year for a while after the new Madden comes out) was Goldeneye. Although Perfect Dark was a very cool game, it didn't hit me the way the original Goldeneye did. Until I had finished Goldeneye as a 00 Agent, I did little else except maintain a subsistence diet.

Grand Theft Auto III has done it again. I dream about this game. I think about it all day at work (like right now as I write this). My wife has accepted that until it's over I will not be myself.

Liberty City reminds me of when I first played Super Mario 64. Finally a world in which you could do anything, except now instead of bouncing on the heads of little fantasy animals (which IS fun), I'm driving a fast car and letting the bodies pile up (which is REALLY fun).

In terms of innovation, I think it still may come down to the three games I've mentioned for best all time (so far), but since this is the most recent, I may have to give it the edge.

If you are a gamer, this game will NOT disappoint.

Summary: A real system hog
Review: How much power do you need to make this game run smoothly and look good. Some game's are just a system hog's and this is definitely one of those. Doesn't look impressive, I cant select a screen resolution of anything other than 640x480 and everything seems to move in slow motion with a grainy almost ghostly effect. But what bugs me most of all is that when I press the run key I want my character to move immediately, quickly and smoothly. But instead he takes forever to get going and pick up any speed. The only thing I did like was the music on some of the radio stations.

Summary: runs bad on geforce 2 mx400?
Review: yeah yeah. we have all heard and agreed that gta3 is a fun game to play. but one other reviewer said it runs bad on his system. he said he has a geforce 2 mx400 on an athlon xp2000 (equivelent of p4 1.7 ghz.) my computer is a p3 1 ghz with an mx400 too. i can run unreal tournament at 1600x1200 resolution, an with all the other performance eathing stuff at over 80 frames a second.
one or more of the following can be true.

1. the guy that wrote the other review is lying (not very likely)
2. he is running gta3 on XP or 2000, which all eat up performance, so stick with windows 98.
3. the makers of gta3 were very rushed to release the pc version, so they gave it a crappy, inefficient graphics engine.
(i think most likely)

if number three is correct, which it probably is, do not buy GTA3 because only really expensive computers can run it well.
if you really want to play gta3, get it on ps2.

Summary: It is a port!
Review: Not a bad port, but just a port. If you have it on PS2 don't buy PC version. As a port, it does not look or play like PC action games using the Quake 3 engine. The cars do not handle like Need For Speed or any EA racing game. You can not rate this over 80%, if you consider how much better this *could* be on a PC. That said, the game is great fun and provides more hours of enjoyment than any single player action game. It is a *buggy port* that really needs a patch. Without a patch expect hours of research and tweaking. Some PC game experts can't get it to run at all. Seems to have the least problems with Windows, Intel, and Nvidia combo. Hard to rate this game because fun factor so high, perhaps it should not be compared to good FPS and third person action games written for PC. If this game came out 2 or 3 years ago it would rate 95%, but not on the PC, today. What would bring it to 100% two years ago? Better story, multiplayer, or something to do with your money. This game is proof that PC gamers are king of the hill, and it is a long way down to the best of the PS2.

Summary: I've never broken more laws!
Review: For anyone who hasnt played this game, it's the best. Whether you play the missions through or just cruise around beating the crap out of strangers and stealing their nice cars, this game will hook you. I can lose 5 hours with GTA3 and not know the difference. Once you get a mental layout of the city, you can make short work of the missions. The main idea of the game is to break the law. You are an escaped ex-con liberated from an armored prison transport by the Yazuka clan, who are interested in another of your fellow inmates. What luck! From this point on you can follow the missions by doing petty jobs like driving a prostitute to her man, progressing on to becoming a hitman and whatnot, or you can just cruise Portland, the lower-class industrial gang area of Liberty City. Complete missions and you can progress to Staunton Island, the more middle-class, commercial area. Do well enough here and you're off to Shoreside Vale. The interesting thing about GTA3 is that it is very loosly based on NYC. But you can see the resemblence when you play the game: Portland=Queens, Staunton=Manhattan, Shoreside=Jersey. The thing that makes GTA3 so different that it gets its own gaming category is that you never, ever have to do anything. If you don't feel like doing a mission right now, you don't have to. Just go mug some rich people over on Shoreside. You also have 12 weapons and over 50 cars at your disposal. Each car also has several mods, and there are also gang cars (Diablo Stallions, Yazuka Stingers, Cartel Crusers) and emergency cars (firetrucks, enforcers, ambulances). The game has many surprise twists and has a viable plot along with the free-feeling liberty to beat the crap out of that annoying dude who walks down the street saying "in the navy" over and over. Theres even radio stations that continuoulsy play music for your driving pleasure. The new computer version also has much better graphics and and sound, and you can listen to your mp3's on your computer rather than always listening to the same stations.

Summary: Repititive but Unique
Review: This is a great game in regards to the unique nature in which you have to play the game and has come a long way since the original, but its very repetitive, you have to just drive you car sometimes slow, sometimes fast and kill people or drop people off, and that becomes very repetitive specially when you have well over 70 missions to do and they are overall the same.

Summary: Die Beste Speil die welt fur dich, nicht fur deine kinder!
Review: This game is the best game i have ever played. If you want to be a gangster or a thug then this game is for you. You can do 72 missions when you want to buy going to certain areas like you will get a breifing certain places like a telephone booth ect. But when you don't feel like doing a mission just walk around with a gun and just take the life of someone i will not ruin it all for you but i must say this game is so real, i mean you get to steal all kinds a cars like the Cheetah which is a stand in for a Ferrari. and you can go buy guns at the stores, or you can buy like a M-16 or a rocket launcher from the black market. The fun part about it is that when you are driving you can listen to radio stations, my personal favorite is Chatterbox. it is a talk show based channel, people will call in and say some funny stuff. A note to parents: I'm 15 years old, and if you feel that your child is mature enough to play this game by all means let them play but reasons not for them to play it is : LANGUAGE they will shout out things when your driving like "You can't drive worth a s**t" This came also includes VIOLENCE people get killed every second. But over all this game is good, Another note the title means The best game in the world for you not for your children.
