Summary: Skeptical GTA Gamer Eats His Foot
Review: I was very skeptical about GTA going 3d. I was unable to accept that the original GTA's were outdated. Well, I talked a lot of s--- about 3d GTA, but I went out and bought a copy of GTA3 for the pc. Another thing that dissapointed me was the cut off of the xbox release. Even when you get bored, you can just load up your game, put in a few codes (health, armor, wanted level, GUNS!!!) and start shooting. It's that simple to be amused. As I said, I ate my foot, got me a copy, and sat down for at least 3.5 hrs. straight. GTA3 is hard to put down. Not into the whole 3d thing, go and get a copy of GTA 1,2,London 1969, because these games will never go out of style.

Summary: Major disappointment after installing this game!!
Review: PLEASE READ PREVIOUS REVIEWS ON MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS!!

I couldn't wait to run out and buy this game after reading all the GTA3 reviews for the PS2, but I should have waited until I read the PC version reviews. First of all I thought I had the recommended requirements with a PIII 700mhz, 256ram, and an ATI Radeon 32ram video card... NOT! Once you start loading the game it runs a system precheck for minimum requirements, this went ok.. The installation went without a hitch (the intro video/sound worked fine) but when I got to the sound test (you can preplay/select the radio stations) it sounded like an old 33&1/3 LP scratched record! But this was only the beginning of my troubles... once I got all the settings selected and started the game, it turned out to be nothing more than a kalidescope of images that looked like broken glass..oh boy! I ran the sys info & diag. like they recommended and sent it to their help site, but all they suggested was to minamize my game settings and check for current drivers which I had already tried, DUH!

When I bought this ATI Radeon video card last year it was the top of the line and wasn't cheap, so now I'm supposed to go out and buy a faster one with more memory just to play this game, NO WAY! MY advice is that if you are not a serious gamer (and I'm not), just invest in a PS2 and play the game on that system, otherwise go ahead and upgrade your video/sound cards if you really want this game to run like it's supposed to.. (this is the first game that I haven't been able to run on my system)

Oh, and one final comment, just for fun I thought I would try loading this on my little Emachine I bought in '98, a 333mhz with a Cyrix processor, 128ram, and an 8meg video card just to see if the sound or any of the video would work.. the sound worked fine and the video did too until the processor couldn't keep up and finally froze the screen.. go figure!

Summary: If video games were put in the world of crime...
Review: ...then Grand Theft Auto 3 would be the Godfather of video games.

This game is highly not recommended for young kids who have a hard time separating fantasy from reality. However, it is recommended for those who CAN tell the difference between fantasy and reality due to the gameplay--you can choose to play the game as linear as you like or as loose as you like.

Don't feel like doing the career missions? Carjack a taxi, pick up fares, and deliver them to their destinations like a certain arcade game. Or steal a police car and go vigilante, taking out crooks. Heck, why not "borrow" that ambulance and rescue a few sick patients along the way? Or take the fire truck and put out a few fires. Feel like beating up a few people? Grab the nearest weapon and let loose the dogs of war. :)

The graphics aren't too great, but they look nice. Audio is superb, and you can even put in your mp3s for your own radio station. There are multiple views (Third person and top down while walking, six different views while driving) in the game.

While this gameplay is simply AMAZING, the in-jokes are a nice compliment as well. (Listen to the Chatterbox radio station for the "Jane the difficult parent" segment while in the car.)

Summary: This game is AMAZING with a capital A.
Review: This is The best game...hands-down. this beats all other 3rd person shooters by far. GTA3 is my favorite game, I'm obsessed with it. In fact it's gonna start being shipped tomorrow. I like the missions "blow Fish" and "the Getaway" myself. And the island I like the most is Staunton.

Summary: Best game yet!
Review: I just recently bought this game and the graphics on my machine are incredible!! I maxed out all the graphics including the res at 1280X1024X32 and the game still runs sooth as heck!! So far I've lost almost a days sleep on this game. One problem that I did have though is when I first installed it, it was impossible to tell what the menus were since none of the letters if your running an earlier version of windows XP you will have to download this patch at Microsoft's website (windows XP patch-direct3D based...). Once I installed that it worked great! I did notice however that a lot of people seemed to have problems with this game even on average machines so make sure you have the latest factory drivers as well...

Summary: Strictly for juveniles
Review: A friend had this game at his house and challenged me to game. Upon seeing what the game was, I reluctantly agreed, but found this game got very boring after about an hour. I also have a moral issue with this game. There is a saying that you become what you think about and practice. Think about grand auto theft, violence and guess what you become! This game is strictly for juveniles who are obviously bored and have too much free time on their hands. Also, Grand Auto Theft didn't appear to be that fun or even challenging if it is only a game.Save your money.

Summary: Could have been better for PC
Review: The PC version is mostly a rip from the Console game version (PS-2), but could have been so much more. It's still a fun game, but they could have made a much more immersive environment with the PC version. They should have included a more strategic aspect to the game, but instead, it is simple missin based action which have few consequences after they are complete, (or at least, very predictable consequences)

Notwithstanding, its still worth it if you like 3rd person action games.

Summary: the ultimate game if your pc is right.
Review: The game is worth [the money]. This game delivers everything it promises. However, if you don't have the right PC, then forget it. The minimum requirements as it suggests, is just for seeing the main title. The maximum requirement is basically the bare minimum for seeing major slow downs. I've tried this on two different systems and ran to the conclusion that the minimum system for no slow downs is due to the specific hardware that you have in your system. The minimum system is as followed: Windows 2000 SP2 Fat32; Ultra-DMA 52X Speed CD-ROM; Soundblaster live gamer card; 800 Mhz non-amd Processor; 32 Bit 3d Accelerated Video Card with reliable drivers; Direct X8.1; 7200 RPM Hard drive; 256K Ram; and a dang usb gamepad. Every system seems to have it's own bug, Good Luck.
