Rating: Summary: Excellent AD&D PC RPG Review: A Fabulous Game! It truely is D&D on the computer except for you don't fight the same monsters but different ones.Beware: it is huge (80 hours+) and can be very difficult as there are lots of spawned monsters to keep fighting. The puzzles and quests are intense and are not winnable without serious help (see gamefaqs.com for help). The characters are great as each gets a voice and a personality. They are hilarious. The spells are disappointing as the best are defensive. The offensive spells just don't do enough damage to damage large groups until much later in the game. You must use each ability constantly or you don't go up in abilities. Experience is only to level up to get HP and spells (one at a time). There are spell books to find and great stuff at the stores around the place. There are tons of items and you spend quite a bit of time organizing your stuff, selling, and buying. The AI is good but extremely slow and can drag out the game when waiting for others to move. You can't take back actions and are forced to wait your turn before getting to move when you don't need to move in the first place. Boy did I spend alot of time backing up into corners before combat to cover my back. Wizardry 8 is a 1st person RPG and the graphics are alittle old. You also have to go back and forth on the same roads a few times, but I still loved it and recommmend it. It so reminds me of playing Wizardry 1 about 20 years ago but very moderized and accurate.

Rating: Summary: Are you guys blind? Review: Didn't anyone notice that the graphics look like the Windows "maze" screensaver? If you buy this, prepare to be visually underwhelmed.

Rating: Summary: Late game, very late. Review: I played this a while ago and just didn't get into it TOO much. I enjoyed it somewhat, but I soon got bored. I just reintalled it and my view is somewhat different. The graphics are crap. The graphics are basically horrible areas, with some bland monsters. In the first dungeon you fight.... rats, spiders, green blobs, and a couple bandits. Interesting? Not really. The plot is fairly straight forward. There are some interesting things to do, and the battles can get frequent. The game is also long. I'm not talking morrowind long. This game will give you that feeling like your traveling back in time to when computers first came out. The graphics are actually extremely horrible looking on even the best graphic systems. Why? Everything(except for some outside stuff which has bland areas) looks like it was done by some basic company trying to create any game possible. The saving grace of this game is the character system. You can customize your characters in a lot of ways. Still... There is something missing from this RPG. Wanna customize your characters? Icewind dale, morrowind, and the list goes on. It is kinda neat hearing all the voices though. People also have interesting things to say which makes their personalitys not too bad. The voice acting for npcs and characters is good in general. All in all? Not a good game to purchase now. It was good, but not anymore. If you really want to play it, I would borrow it from a friend or buy a preowned version. There isn't that much brought to the table... Sorry Encore Software, but when people say "graphics don't make the game", it doesn't give you a license to make your game completely absent of graphics. You need some graphics to make a game good, and this just is low quality stuff.
Rating: Summary: A Welcome Trip in the Wayback Machine Review: I played Wiz 6 & 7 and I've been playing CRPG's since Might & Magic 1 was released on a single 5" floppy. So that's where I'm coming from. This game is a labor of love from people who also played and enjoyed the Ulitma, Might & Magic, and Wizardry series way back when. What does that mean? It means: party play - lots of stats & numbers - oodles of badies to kill - an interesting story (that's mostly an excuse to kill even more bad guys but interesting) - quirky classes - uniques skills - odd humor - wide open fields of exploration. If you love games - well remember the people who made this game love them just as much as you do. It's a steal at this price.

Rating: Summary: A Good Amount of Fun Review: I recently bought this (1 week ago) and have not been able to stop playing. It is a wonderful throw back to some good ol' D&D fun. There is another review on this where the guy say that he does not like all the fighting when you are trying to accompish stuff. I disagree. I infact like the fact that there is nothing but fighting. I am tired of the games where you can "Clean" a level out. There is none of that here. Infact the best part is when you are wandering from one quest to another, unlike most games where the creatures of a particular level stay the same weak pathetic scum that they are, this one increases their hitpoints and level. SO you cannot simply back track to an easy level to gain hp's and stuff. Pro: Lots of different classes and spells Leveling up does not take an eternity Lots of monsters that are challenging(especially spell casting ones) Relatively good game play. Spells are really great Con: A little herky jerky in the POV. But not bad. Not enough really cool magical stuff (either that or I have not found any) Not enough blood (really there is none at all) This is a really good game. I like it better than Diablo and its on par with Baldurs (baldurs is a little more adventury and this is more characture specific friendly) For $$$...get this game, it's worth it.
