Rating: Summary: If less stars were only possible Review: I bought the game. Couldn't get it to work. Waited for patches. Patched it. Still didn't work. Contacted tech support 5 times via e-mail. Still waiting for a response. This game is buggy. Beware.
Rating: Summary: A real waste of money Review: I love the Infinity Engine RPGs like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, and yes, I used to play AD&D on paper. This game was VERY disappointing. Graphics are OK, but playability is awful. Control functions are not intuitive at all... combat is slow and dreadfully frustrating. I have not experienced the bugs people complain of, but that's probably because I only played it an hour or two before quitting.
Rating: Summary: Waste of Money, Waste of Space, Waste of Time Review: This game has got to be the single most poorly designed RPG on the market. And I'm not even taking into account the plethora of bugs that it has. The interface cripples the game well enough, if you ask me.The ranger class is rendered totally useless, or at least no more useful than a fighter with a bow.. since you can't move any characters in your party very far away from the rest of your party at all. The story is very generic, and extremely lame. Basically.. you're dumped in some ruins with very little explanation, and you wander around killing things. And wishing the interface [wasn't so] bad. Don't buy this game. (...)
Rating: Summary: *** WARNING *** Review: This game is horrible. It wouldn't install on my computer because they wrote the installer to only install on your C drive. When I tried to uninstall the game, windows was corrupted and I had to reinstall windows from scratch. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. Also, the tech support for the game is horrible. Don't trust anything coming from UBI soft.
Rating: Summary: Please listen to me..DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!!! Review: Listen to me please!!! Do not buy this game!!! There are so many problems with this thing that I could go on for days. The most disturbing thing is I cannot believe that any game manufactor would ever put out such an totaly incomplete game. Some of things that I have experienced: 1. sometimes you will just be playing and the game will suddendly freeze up with no way to get out except to pull out the power cord on your PC, not even control/alt./delete will work, you have to pull the plug or hit the power switch. 2. if you get into a room with mulitple monsters there is a 90% chance that the game will become so sluggish that you can no longer control your characters or their actions. This has nothing to do with your PC's specs either so you cannot blame a slow computer. Mine for instance is a 1.5mhz processor with 512MB ram..and that is more than enough power to run any game on the market. 3. the action is so incredibly slow I swear you will almost fall alseep waiting just to finsh a minor battle. 4. the dungeons are so large and confusing that you will spend at least 3 days just trying to get to the end of the first one. 5. there is a bug in the software that will not permit you to uninstall the game!!! (how messed up it that!!!!) If that is not enough reasons to not buy this game I think something must be wrong with you. I have to stop with 5 or I will lose my mind. Trust me there are MANY more problems/bugs that I do not have the patience to write about. Believe me, it takes a lot to get me so mad that I will spend the time to write a negative post about a game that is so bad it should not have even made it out of testing. PLEASE TAKE IT FROM ME AND THE OTHER POSTERS HERE....DO NOT BUY, PLAY, OR EVEN THINK ABOUT THIS GAME!!!!! You have been forewarned.....(I wish I was before I wasted time and money on this worthless game.)
Rating: Summary: Pool of Radiance - Don't waste your money. Review: I had great hopes for Pool of Radiance 2. I had played all the original gold box D&D games by SSI. However, I installed the game and could not even get past the intro movie. The game froze every time. My computer system met the requirements listed on the game. Eventually, I decided to remove it from my hard drive and wait until UbiSoft made a patch to let me play. -- I had read about the UNINSTALL bug, so I waited until I downloaded patch 1.1. Even with the patch installed, uninstalling POR2 crashed my system. It erased or modified some system files. I tried to do a low level restore of my system, but that did not help. The only way I could use my computer was to completely wipe the hard drive and re-install all of my software. If you don't want to waste your money or risk your computer, don't buy this game. [...]
Rating: Summary: An average game Review: This is one of the most average games I've seen in a long time. After I downloaded the patches and changed my virtual memory settings, most of my problems were solved. The storyline could use some work...there are few side quests, and the main plot gets lost when you're hacking and slashing your way through the dungeons. I haven't used a lot of the magical spells. Fireball and lightning bolt, even after my mages advanced in skill level, are still the ones I use the most...but they aren't as effective once you're surrounded, then chain lightning is the only way to go, unless you want all of your party members killed off by friendly fire. There isn't a lot of need for the other ones. There are far too many low-level monsters in the dungeons, until you reach the catacombs. Beating up on orcs and skeletons gets kind of dull after a while. There just aren't enough rewards for gaining experience, it seems. I played table top AD&D in college (2nd edition), and I remember levelling a lot more often. I liked the music and the graphics. I haven't seen any better graphics in PC computer games lately. But the 3rd edition rules definitely need to be updated, if they haven't been already. Also, the maps need work. I have played other games where after you find a location, you can click on it and walk there automatically. Wandering through dungeons because you, not your characters, can't recall where an exit or room is wastes time that could be spent doing other things in the game. If you truly are hard up for cash, then don't waste your money on this game. It's expensive for what you actually get.
Rating: Summary: Glad to be over with this... Review: Along with a multitude of other people, I looked forward to this game with eager anticipation. And, along with a multitude of other people, I was severely disappointed. I guess that I first got really disgusted with only having 1st level characters in Myth Drannor. You know, the place where Elminster doesn't go. Okay, I dealt with it. I personally did not have a problem with the uninstall bug, thank goodness. I was plagued with the crash bug, where it would randomly crash, usually at the worst times. (Almost through a major battle, etc.) Also, I had spent 10 hours or so in the game and my save game became corrupted, and I had to start all over again. This made me very upset. The game, as of this post, has been out over 1 1/2 months. We have gotten very small patches, but nothing to fix the crashes or other bugs in the game itself. I lucked out towards the end and finished up quicker than I thought. I'm glad, because the battles get very wearisome. And that's all the game is. If you like fighting an awful lot, then you may enjoy this game. I was hoping for more of an adventure game. On the up side, I got to play Baldur's Gate 2 for the first time afterwards! What a difference!
Rating: Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! Review: What ever you do, do not buy this game. As stated in other reviews, the gameplay is terribly boring and crashes computers on a regular basis. Do not waste your money.
Rating: Summary: This game stinks Review: The art stinks, the music stinks, the lack of plot, the GUI, the playstyle and the endless, and I mean endless bugs all stink. Save your money.
