Summary: Just not fun.
Review: For starters, you can't easily control your character or your ships. There are times you'd like to save, but can't. The instructions are non-existant. The combat engine is a joke. Combat is supposed to be an important part of the game, but the action is the worst I've seen in years. Please don't buy this game. If we keep buying [weak] games like this, there will be no real incentive for developers to make decent products!

Summary: The Next Great RPG
Review: From the creators of Morrowind comes Pirates. The game was originally Sea Dogs II, but Disney bought out the game. However, the game is still awesome with great graphics, good sound, and a lot of fun installed into it. The game is similar to Morrowind, and heavily encourages exploring. You can trade, or buy, or sell. You can choose the attitude and qualities that your character will have, and the entire game is very open-ended. The combat is great, with the sea battles being especially exciting! The game plays as if you were a pirate, and the game unravels like a tale about, well, pirates and what they do. Overall, this game is great for open-ended fun and will provide a great gaming experience for a fan of Disney's ride, the movie, or pirates!

Summary: Great game
Review: Graphics rock and game play is cool, once you get the hang of the controls, which is not so easy.

Well worth the price. A game could go on for weeks from what I can tell and replay should be pretty good since there is so much to explore.

Walking around can sometimes be tedious as you will find that he doesn't go very fast, even when you run. There are quick keys for points around the city but not when your outside. So, if your ship is moored on the other side of the island, you have to hike to get there!

Aside from that flaw, I think the game is the perfect combo of first person shooter, and adventure role playing.

I have gotten tire of just killing in my FPS's and gave this game a chance. Now that I have it, it is my second favorite to 1942.

I do wish there was some multi-player ability in it...that would make this a classic. All Pirate's robbing eachother and getting into huge ship battles, cool!

Summary: Bethesda's Folly
Review: I bought this game thinking that perhaps it was just a name change, that maybe it was still going to be sea dogs 2... but alas, the gameplay is horrible.. the AI is lacking.. and the speech trees are annoying.. My only hope is that perhaps by selling out with this game, bethesda will have made enough to make another great game in the elder scrolls series.... Don't purchase this title thinking it will be Morrowindesque, it's just not even close. Disney put the big stink on it.

Summary: It's not Morrowind, but it will fulfill pirate expectations
Review: I bought this game yesterday and was so excited to have a pirate game created by the makers of Morrowind. I knew this game was open ended plot-wise, so I had high hopes that Pirates of the Caribbean (POTC) would be Morrowind on the open seas of the Atlantic.
I was wrong.
In the game you cannot interact with everything on the screen. Enter a room, and you can open a chest or cabinet if it's there, but don't think you can pick up some silverware off of a dining room table and sell it at the pawn shop.
You don't have a first person perspective in this game (except for when sailing).
I have a gripe about not being able to adjust all the keys on my keyboard to the arrangement I want in order to play this game. For instance, the space bar is a fixed action button.
The campy music for this game is terrible. I ended up muting it.
Lastly, the instruction booklet is nearly worthless, so pay close attention to the online tutorials. Skip them and you will be lost later.
However, the graphics are incredible! The plot possibilities are endless. And you get to perform ship to ship battles.
All in all, this is the most in-depth pirate game on the market, so if you are a pirate fan this game is for you (mostly because you will likely forgive any misgivings this game has currently). If you are looking for something like Morrowind... stick with Morrowind.

Summary: The graphics are great. Tis a Shame the Game Won't Play
Review: I finally got a working (?) copy of the game after over a month of searching and waiting. It arrived Friday evening and it is now Sunday evening and the only part of the game I've actually seen is the splash screens for loading and the movie files. I've loaded, unloaded, reloaded and tweaked all weekend. I've upgraded drivers, checked my system to make sure I'm well within requirements (and am) and, as of this moment, the only part of the game that plays are the videos. I've had help from folks who actually got their games to work (and they are mystified about my problems).

Save your money.

Summary: This is a cool game
Review: I have played in first version of this game wich called Sea Dogs.
It was the greatest game about pirates and ships.
I think Sea Dogs 2 (or Pirates of the Carribean if you wish) will be the best game of this summer.
I advice it to all people who likes pirates, slaves and the sail age. It will be fun!!!

Summary: Great Pirates Game
Review: I have read some bad reviews and good reviews on this game before getting it..I have played it for about 3 weeks and completed the game...I think it was Great. The graphics, realism, sound, music score are superb. It is a nonlinear game with mini tasks to accomplish a main task. Definitely different from the 1st person shooter games I'm used to. The learning curve is extensive and you have to be very patient. The dialogue windows are corny but necessary. I recommend you read the manual twice and join GameSpot.com and get into their Pirates of Caribbean Forum....you'll pick up alot of tips. It's very important in the beginning to improve your skill points in Melee, accuracy and cannon....that's all I'll say on that. This game is definitely worth $19.99. Get it. If I can be of further help, email me at www.internaman@yahoo.com subject: Pirates of the Caribbean

Summary: In response to others reviews
Review: I just had to respond to some of the criticisms.

The combat isn't very realistic, but in an RPG, it doesn't need to be. If you want realistic combat, look for a good FPS. One person said there should have been more of a movie tie-in, but the Disney buy out wasn't even official before the game was mostly complete, just a month or two before release. Besides, movie-games usually are bad, and game-movies fare about as well.
