Summary: A good try... a worthwhile investment
Review: Just to give you a good idea of the kind of player that I am, I'll give you a list of games that appealed to me. Personally, I never took much stock in people who declared games "awesome... the best..." without first having a means to compare our opinions of games.

So, the list of games that you'd find in my library:
Diablo I & II (summer vacation late night lan parties)
Baldur's Gate II
Darksun II
Ultima 6 & 7
Might and Magic 6, 7 & 8

Those above rank a good 4 - 5 on my scale, and to Dungeon Siege, I'll give a 3.

For it's revolutionary concepts such as:
- pack mules (wonderful idea)
- a completely unique class system leaving it to the user to find the right mix of skills that reflect their style of play(both a positive and negative)
- multiple spell themes (conjurer, fire, ice mage etc)
- no waiting in between area loading
- a dynamic pc image that changes based on equipment

As well as drawbacks such as:
- a lack of creature depth (who thinks ice creatures should have cold resistance?)
- lack of replayability (once you get down to it, going online and killing the same creatures over and over and over again - diablo style if you're into that sort of thing)
- majority of spells are 'beefed up' versions of earlier spells rather than each having unique concepts.

Summary: Diablo2 times 10
Review: This is the absolute best game ever!!!! If you likes diablo, your gonna go crazy for this game. Unbelievable graphics, tons of enemies, weapons, and items. Only one problem, only four main character types but you can be two at a time or change between one or the other at any point in the game so your not a set character class! Unbelievable!

Summary: Fun but not engaging
Review: This games is pretty to look at even with only an okay system. The story is non-existant so if you like to feel there is really a reason you are running around killing everything you will be disapointed. The fighting is fun but sometimes it feels like the computer is doing too much of the work and you are just there to make sure your characters drink health potions when they need to.

Summary. This game feels like Diablo 2.5. Great graphics. Lots of battles. Great interface. Oops- we forgot to write a plot.

Summary: Best RPG Game I Have Played
Review: I have played through this game twice, once as a fighter and
once as a mage. I love the user interface, graphics, audio and
inventory management. This game includes many interesting
dungeons and the AI for the monsters is great! I often
chased one into an ambush, very cool. You will never find
a better RPG area then the Swamp, fantastic! Yes, you are kept
on the single path but so what? You are free to explore without
getting lost and exploring is the name of the game. I completely
recommend this game for hours of enjoyment.

Summary: beautiful,but repetitious
Review: I was very excited about getting this game, after I read so many glowing comments in various pc gaming magazines.
So I bought it the moment it came out,and have been playing single and multiplayer off and on ever since.
The graphics are extremely gorgeous, and the creatures are pretty cool, too.The background music fits the action/atmosphere perfectly.I think this is the most stunningly beautiful game I have ever seen/played.
My complaint? As with most other games of this genre, after a while, it gets to be boring slashing and hacking away constantly, with no let up in sight. I have my characters stats built up to a reasonable level, and then can drink coffee while they efficiently kill off all the monsters. I would like it to have been a little more challenging, ala "Clive Barker's Undying."
Although it is easy to play and win this game,I think the reason I keep at it is because the thing looks so amazing, and sounds so good. And the multiplayer world is even more beautiful,if that's possible.
So,all in all..I am glad I got the game, and the developers should certainly win some awards for what they accomplished..but I wish it had been just a little tougher to play.I will stick with it,though,to see what new and cool creature pops up on the horizon next.
BTW: The game has run flawlessly, both single and multiplayer.I am running WindowsXP on a 1.7 P4 PC,with 256RAM.

Summary: Chalk another up to the "Evil Empire"
Review: I'm a choosey computer Gamer, but found Dungeon Siege to be a blast! It is visually stunning, the music is beautiful, and the character selection fun. It even runs without requiring a juiced up Video Card. (Mine only has 8 MB) <>

Plus, there are equal number of male and female avatars to play with, and infinite number of character combinations overall. (A big plus for female gamers who are often short-changed in this area).

Yea, I grant you it has a rather simple plotline, but you hardly notice it, as your party pours into each successive room filled with monsters.

Microsoft has another winner on its hands!

My main and only gripe, is the avatars can be rathersimilar looking as the game progresses, which makes it a challenge to determine who is who! (And, As usual, make sure to check the minimun system requirements before purchasing this game!)

Happy Dungeon Sieging. =-)

Summary: Dungeon Seige
Review: A total waste of 50 bucks! The graphics are GREAT, but the game is DULL! All you do is fight, then fight some more, and in-between fights, you fight some more. The quests (what few there are) are absolutely BORING, and you spend all your time fighting.

Summary: Diablo Killer?? I Think Not.
Review: Diablo killer?? I think not.

Clearly the first review is from someone who works for MS or Gas Powered Games. (For the record, I don't work for anyone in the gaming industry) So I won't read it.

I have got this game only a few days so this may not be a fair review. Haven't got to multiplayer yet. But what the heck. With so many games out there, who with a day job has the time to play them all? If within 5 hours of play I am not impressed with something that I just got, probablly I will put it on the shelf or on ebay very soon.

Graphics: Good but a typical Action/RPG player can be careless for graphics. Diablo and Diablo II don't have the best graphics but they are the best sellers. Ask yourself, why is that?

3D vs. 2D: Personally I prefer 2D for PRGs. Do a pull on people who are playing Diablo (1 or 2) or Boulder's Gate (1 or 2) if they care to see a 3D camera zooming/rotating or not. This game is nothing but a better Blackstone which many people don't know about and will soon be forgotten.

Sound and Music: Don't care.

Story: Don't care. If I want to read, I'll pick up Harry Potter (nah, I don't want to read when I am playing a PC game. Period.)

Game Interface: Take time to get used to, but it's fine.

Character Development: Nice twist. 4 (Melee, Ranged, Combat Magic, Natural Magic) skills you can develop your char on. So that means there are 14 possible combinations for char development (want me to list them out for ya? Ok, it's M, R, C, N, MR, MC, MN, RC, RN, CN, MRC, MRN, RCN, and MRCN where M=Melee, R=Ranged, C=Combat Magic, N=Natural Magic). Let see how many are there in Diablo II? There are 7 classes, say each has 3 to 4 variants, that's 21 to 28 possible types of chars.

Replay value: None. Unlike Diablo II, the monster gets tougher when you enter a higher difficulty level game. Not here. In Dungeon Siege you may change difficulty level in the middle of the game. Why?? So you want to be mean on weak monsters but run like a chicken when you see tough ones?? Yay, how fun!

Game loading time: 30-45 minutes installation time but no loading time while playing. This is an improvement. Slightly. How much time Diablo has to load a level? Depending on your pc, say 5-10 seconds? Does that really bother you?

Items: I believe this is why people are wanting to play Diablo so much. Some items in Dungeon Siege have different names but exactly the same attributes. Makes you wonder if it is only superficial there are so many different types of items in here. No durability or quantities (arrows free!) on the item. We are too lazy to repair stuff, don't we? Not sure how items are dropped. In Diablo, the item drop is a very complicated process. In order to get good items, most people go for "magic find" attributes on items to equip their chars. What's the mechanism for item drop in Dungeon Siege? Don't know. All random? Well, good luck then.

Dungeon Siege is overrated as far as I can tell. Maybe I'll give it another look when I am actually done with it (go through the world once in single player). MS wants a piece of the PRG market like they want a piece of everything else everywhere else. That's not a bad thing if they can do it right.

Give me Diablo III with new chars, new skills, and new items even nothing else changes I'll still buy it the day it comes out.

Summary: Dungeon Siege
Review: Im this close to never buying another game with microsoft stamped on it ever again. Welcome to single player Diablo. It was fun to start with but quicky becomes boring. The story is dull and the interface is clunky, and you CANT PAN UP. Do yourself a favor and buy a game with some replay value, this game has none.
