Summary: What Level Am I?
Review: All I can say is the game is really(2x) great its interesting and very, very exciting. But I guess the game is too short for the players to reach their maximum level of 30, you could finish the game without even getting close to it. Please try to work on this...Thanks.

Summary: It's an expansion! What do you expect?
Review: All right, I will readily admit (along with a million others) that this game is too short. Wait there- don't stop reading! I'm not done yet. First of all, I would like to point out that this is an expansion, which means it continues a larger game. That it does well, and should add just as much game time as the BG expansion, Tales of the Sword Coast. Additionally, there are some new nifty features that should get any IWD fan's attention. The first and most important of these is 800x600 resolution (greater possible, but unsupported). There are also new spells, new abilities, a new experience cap, and gorgeous new areas to explore. Additionally, if you're a patient person (or a rich one with broadband), you can go download additional areas from Interplay- for free. All in all, it's a pretty fine deal.

Summary: not worth the money
Review: As a diehard fan of CRPGs, and especially of BG1, BG2, and Icewind Dale I was sorely disappointed in this expansion pack. Unlike Tales of the Sword Coast, which proved to be a challenge, my "final save" party from IWD breezed through this easily. I finished this expansion pack on the second day. Sure there were some graphic improvements and higher experience levels, but this thing was nowhere near worth..., not for just the few quests that you get for it. The boss, or "foozle," or whatever you might call him, was a disappointment, too, much less difficult than similar monsters in BG2. If you have unlimited funds, go for it, but I would say that you should wait for it to show up in the bargain bin.

Summary: Too Short, Too Easy, Too expensive
Review: As an avid Baldurs Gate fan I was extremely disappointed with this expansion pack. Although I felt that the original Icewind Dale was too short I felt that the expansion pack was a total rip-off. I completed it after only about 5 hours. When the endgame movie started to play I thought it was the end of a chapter, until I saw the credits!

Don't waste you money.

Summary: Boring.
Review: I bought this expansion with high expectations, as I enjoyed Icewind Dale better than either Baldur's Gate of Baldur's Gate II. However, it did not live up. The areas are just plain boring - there is one area where there is only ONE ENEMY that you fight, and the rest aren't much better. Also, be prepared for LOOOONG sequences of dialogue with barbarians... again, not my idea of an ideal game. Fortunately, Black Isle released Trials of the Lurmaster as a free download for HoW owners (...), so that at least means it gets a three. Other than that, the higher level cap and even Heart of Fury mode (which does little more than make battles extremely tedious ) do little to make up for a mediocer experience.

Summary: This is an awesome game
Review: I loved the game. However, it is a *MUST* that you play this before you play Baldur's Gate 2. The storyline is very linear and guided compared to BG2, so you will be disappointed compared to that. The best part about this add-on is that you get a free expansion to go with the expansion - you just need to download it off of Fileplanet (Tales of the Luremaster) and you'll be all set.

Summary: Nice visual enhancements, but really buggy.
Review: I really like what has been done with the overall graphics. The textures and monsters are much improved. The increased detail to the characters is spetacular. All of this is without a 3D card. Using a 3D card enhances the graphics even further making the textures even richer and adding to shadows as well. The main problem with HoW....bugs. HoW is really touchy, especially when trying to play multiplayer. You may have trouble getting it to run smoothly on your machine, but just mess with the settings a little and you can fix that. For example: I turned off ambient sounds and mine runs great. For multiplayer problems you might try turning off all your feedback options and you will want to check to make sure all the people you are playing with have the same version of directX installed.

I hope this helps. I know there are probably a lot of you out there having these problems.
