Summary: Better Than the Original
Review: This game is incredibly addictive. If you are sick of Diablo 1, don't think you will be bored of Diablo 2. The same great gameplay is back, only highly refined and expanded 5 times. You can literally play the entire thing through 15 times and not see everything.

For those of you who haven't played Diablo, it is basically an RPG version of Solitaire - very simple, very repeditive, and very addictive. The perfect game for blowing 30 minutes at lunch, but beware - you might take the rest of the day off!

The backdrop of the game is breathtaking! You will travel through dark caves, desert tombs, monasteries, deserted cities, jungles, ancient Mayan temples with undead priests assaulting you in waves, and even the rivers of Hell. The final showdown with Diablo is 10 times better than the original. The story that ties everything together is, well, not as deep as other RPGs, but still spell-binding. The ending will have you begging for D3.

And once you finish it, you can play it again! This game has the most replay value of any RPG ever. First, it is actually fun to play over and over. Secondly, Diablo 2 has five highly unique character classes which all play differently, and within each class are 30 skills which would take you 300 levels to explore! You'll want to finish the game 2-3 times with each character.

Finally, Battle.Net rocks. You are basically getting a MMORPG for free, without the monthly fee. Get online, meet your friends, form a party, and hop on a game. Incredibly simple. The games gets dynamically tougher as more players join, and you will never feel like there are more players then there are monsters. Forget camping, or taking 3 months to level - Diablo 2 lets you have fun immediately and doesn't slow down. During launch, everyone was trying to use it at the same time, but now things have calmed down significantly.

Summary: Great Sequel... a few misses...
Review: First, let me tell you what I like in a RPG computer game. I like a game that takes very little time to get going. I like games that follow the premise of AD&D, but not the exact structure. I prefer hack-n-slash to complicated spellslinging and it has to have growth in experience and items/armor.

So how did Diablo II do? Very well. It lets me be the hack-n-slash monster that I want to be. I found that as I moved up in experience, I was able to incorporate the appropriate upgrade in weapons and armor. The monsters were tougher overall, the gameplay has improved and the sound and graphics are awesome. Also, the emphasis on gold is gone. There's plenty of it and you're able to sell tons of items, so you won't starve from lack of funds.

But...

You can't save you're game and return to that exact point. They claim they wanted add an element of dread to the game and not allow you to keep saving/returning until you defeated whatever you were up against. Good idea, bad implementation. It basically means that even if you just want to quit playing for the night, you will have to start over on that chapter and re-fight the same monsters again to get to the same point. But its not a show stopper, just incredibly inconvenient. Also, the game is just too linear for my tastes. I liked Diablo I where you had quests but you basically were there to clear out all the dungeon nasties at the same time. But again, its such a great game that I got over it.

Bottom line: If you like the first Diablo, you'll like the second. If you like RPG's in general you'll like it. If you like more of a strategy game, you will not.

Summary: Excellent Game...Poor Support
Review: Diablo II is an excellent game, but only if you want to play offline (single player). I play on the East Realm (on BattleNet) and have 5 characters above level 30 (one of each class). Lag has been a serious problem since I bought the game last summer when it was first released. Back then, Blizzard support said that the overwhelming sales of the game caught them by surprise and they would eliminate the lag by adding more servers. Well, 6 months have passed now and the lag just gets worse and worse every day. It is now so bad that I have found the game to be completely unplayable. Now Blizzard is advertising the game on TV so even more people will be logging onto the already overcrowded, lagged-out servers. It's a shame that all the effort that went into creating such a great game is ruined by the poor support for online players. Playing single-player is not an option for me since I've discovered how much fun it is to team up with friends.

Summary: Amazing game
Review: There is really no way you can go wrong for with this game - it's cheap, there is no monthly fee, it will run on almost any computer over any dialup connection, and most importantly its fun. Blizzard knows how to put out a very stable, polished and well thought out product. Even after you've played through 10 times, you will likely find yourself running the game again and again. The game is very simple to learn, but will soon have you combing diabloII.net and other resources to learn of the best builds and strategies.

On a side note, the LOD expansion is almost a must have - it greatly expands the original game.

Summary: Awesome game!
Review: Popular to contrary belief, this game has a VERY convenient system. As you progress further into an act, you find waypoints. Basically, what waypoints do is make it so you can teleport from the town to a point far into the act. And, if the going gets rough, you can use a town portal scroll to teleport you back to town to heal up, then jump back into the portal to pick up right where you left off.

Anyways, this is a great game. You start out by choosing 1 of 5 classes, and then you begin your journey. You begin by killing slow, boring, monsters in a field, but 5 or 10 minutes into the game it gets better. The battles are fun and intense, and almost every single monster drops gold or an item. Also, every time you level up you get 5 stat points and 1 skill point, making your character very customizable. I won't spoil much for you, but I can guarantee that you will like the game.

Review: This has got to be one of the most addictive games I have ever played. As you can see from my living situation, I really have nothing better to do. But if you get this game, you will discover, you wont have anything better to do either! Lag isn't that big of a problem if you have a computer over the speed of crap, and an internet modem that is haulin 42kps (52 perferably). I literally spent one entire summer playing this game. But then a new patch came out and that work was wasted. The problems are hackers and slackers and crackers. Hackers can kill you in an instant, slackers will beg for free items NONSTOP. One actually followed me from game to game (NO IDEA HOW)! And crackers because their too cheap and run away during fights. Those of you who believe this game has no strategy, obviously haven't played the game too in depth. In the hardest difficulty, let's say you make a sorceress whose basis is cold damage. But there are many monsters who are COMPLETELY IMMUNE to cold damage. That's when you have to stratagize. Now that is just me talking about the internet side. If you want to avoid lag and take the easy route, go on single player. Though I feel, that if you do not have lag, it just makes the game too easy. There are complaints about realms going down, well then go to a different realm and colonize there! I did, and have great characters on the EAST and WEST coast. The only thing I could think of bad about this game, are the other not so legit people out there. And that you can't take out the townsfolk (dang). I could go on for hours telling you why to buy this game, so just do it. Lay down about 20$ for this game. It is worth 200$+!!!
