Summary: Blizzard gives birth to another bad egg
Review: The only diabolical thing about this game is how bad it is. Blizzard's strategy is this: make the game so much fun in the beginning that you sell lots o copies and than later it is no more fun. They make more money faster that way. But wasting money for this game which you will shelf after realizing there's nothing more to do is a bad idea. Hack, slash, pick up, hack slash, level up, pick up, hack, slash, player killer, hack, slash, kill, level up. That's how i can describe the game. Do yourself a favor, if you're a hack and slasher buy a hack and slasher that is actual FUN and doesn't try to be something it's not. RPG fans should really turn away from this.

Summary: Curiously addictive
Review: This is the essence of the dungeon hack and slash. Your character kills the hordes of walking undead, they drop random loot for you. After enough hacking your character becomes more powerful by leveling up. The lure of the always possible rare or unique drop off of a monster is an extremely potent carrot. As is the rewards garnered at the completion of each quest which although aren't exactly rocket science, do progress the story arc and provide a sense of accomplishment. The stick in the equation is the setup that everytime you reload the game the monsters in an area are regenerated, making it imperative that your character find the waypoints which allow one to skip previously played areas. This combination of carrot and stick creates uncommonly addictive gameplay, and makes for great stress relief.

Summary: Great for the whole, gore-obsessed family!
Review: I blieve this game is really underrated by a lot of people; those who haven't taken the time to fully understand it. I was once one of those people who, after playing it for a short period of time, thought: "This is just mindless point-and-click action... boring!" Oh, how I was wrong.

After giving it a bit more time I discovered the strategy involved wit the game. At early levels you can get by with just pointing, clicking, and slaughtering. However, once you progress further into the game -- especially when you reach Nightmare mode or play a Hardcore character -- strategy becomes much more important. I found that skills and combinations that worked well to begin with just didn't cut it later on, and I discovered just how bad my choices really were with skills. Finding that my characters began to suck, I did some research, put a lot of thought into them, and eventually learned how to make a character that would last through the whole game. It takes a lot of time -- and a big attention span -- to get the full enjoyment out of this game, but if you're going to pay for it, you might as well suck up every minute you can, right?

Multi-play mode is especially addictive. You can pair up with friends and try different combinations of characters and skills to see how each class best compliments the others. Paladins are natural party leaders whose Auras work for the good of the teem, while Barbarians can both take and deal large amounts of damage, allowing other party members such as the Amazon to sit in the back row and pick off enemies with arrows or javalins. The possibilites are literally endless.

If I were to rate the game on a scale of 1 to 10, here's how I'd do it:

Graphics: 8. The cinematic cutscenes are brilliant, but you only get to see them between Acts and at the intro and ending of the game. The graphics in-game itself are great, ranging anywhere from awesome spell animations to outfit changes dependant upon what you have equipped. The one problem I had was that it only supported up to 640x480 resolution (though the Expansion Pack will fix taht to 800x600) and the intense graphics can cause a lot of system lag at times.

Sound: 7. The music is very ambient and well produced, though it can get quite repetetive at times. Sound affects are good, but after a while they become very monotonous (that can be said for any and every game, however).

Story: 8. The story is fairly original and well thought-out, and is aided wonderfully by the Quests you must undertake to achieve further parts of the plot. My one problem with it is the lack of ability to impact it in any way.

NPCs: 8. All of the townspeople are wonderful, with great voice acting. Their animations are thoughtful and detailed -- for instance, Charsi the blacksmith may walk back and forth between her anvil, sometimes stopping to pound a weapon with her hammer -- and they look superb. The only problem here is that the "hirelings" (mercenaries) are rather stupid, and there is almost no interaction with them (until the expansion pack).

Overall: 8.5. It's not the greatest game on the face of the earth, but the awesome skill system, story, characters, classes, and everything else that matters in a game are simply fabulous. I'd definitely recommend playing this game... IF you have an attention span that will hold out long enough to realize its full potential.

Summary: An incredibly addictive game! Awesome!
Review: Probably the best part of this game is the item system. Throughout the game you are constantly upgrading your equipment, and there is a near-infinite variety of items you can get. The gameplay is great - lots of awesome spells, five different classes. The online play is awesome, and freeee! Too bad Battle.net is chock-full of lag, the bane of D2 players everywhere. Still this is the best action/adventure game I have ever played.

Summary: Here's a game that'll make you lose days of sleep!!!!!!!!
Review: This game is like an RPG. You level up, learn new skills, and get more experience. There are 5 fighting classes: Sorceress, Palidan, Necromancer, Barbarian, and Amazon. There are also 3 difficulty levels; normal, nightmare, and hell. I thought it was all over when i killed diablo, but then I heard about the secret cow level that has man's worst enimies, the evil cows and and the cow king. You get a lot of special items there. I'm not going to tell you how to get there but if you really want to know, email me Well, thenhere's Battle.net. On Battle net you can get on the enternet and play against other players.once you kill another person, you can steal all their awesome items!! It's really fun! The only bad thing is about sleep. This game will keep you up for days and days. So go out and buy this game, it it a must have!!!

Summary: not as good as ONE
Review: Diablo 2 really made me mad. Number 1 you can't save anywhere along the line. When you die you go back. This may mean up to 10 or 15 minutes to get back to your site. Number 2. The game cheats. When you die it will take any gold that you have on your person and then it takes everything thing else as well. I'll stay with number one. (which is a great game)

Summary: Multiplayer is TERRIBLE!
Review: Okay, multiplayer is TERRIBLE!

If you're looking to spend loads of time downloading mandatory buggy patches, and you're looking to attract obnoxious teenage boys and men with bad attitudes and personal issues, then multiplayer is definately for you. Anyone with a bad attitude can kill your character and take anything you've worked for in the game, and the bugginess of the patches randomly closes the game or kicks you out of the game.

D2 has so much potential, but Blizzard and Battle.net really need to work on how well they serve their consumers, otherwise people may be wary about the purchasing of future Diablo - related products.

Summary: Best Game Ever
Review: Diablo II is easily the greatest computer game ever except for possibly counter-strike, but that is in a whole different genre. People who critize this game for being a simple hack and slash game are probably the same people who play a game for 5 minutes and if they dont like it, return it, and complain to everyone they know how its the worst game ever. If u try to play Hardcore Mode, where if ur guy dies, hes gone permanently, by just clicking the mouse over and over, ur guy is gonna be dead by level 12. The game requires immense strategy and item choice. U must make sure u make the right skill choices throughout the game and use the correct weapons, armors, etc.. to make ur guy as powerful as possible. O, and dont forget, the game has many thousands of different unique, rare, and set items to try to collect, use, and trade. If u give this game a chance, ull become addicted to it, and find urself playing it everyday for like 6 months, like me

Summary: Fun and challenging
Review: I played the original Diablo on the Mac and this version on a Wintel system. The game is varied and challenging. I tried the Barbarian class and found it to be a lot of simple, zombie smashing fun. If you like action in a fantasy setting Diablo II is a great ride.
