Rating: Summary: It's a little too much Review: This game was okay, not great. While the game world is huge, and while the graphics are simply amazing at points (relative to its nearest RPG competition), the game seems largely directionless. There are so many pointless side quests to attempt that you begin to lose the sense that the main quest is important at all. There's nothing seemingly more pressinbg about it than any of the others. Once you follow the main quest, the story is barely involving and seems to be filled with all the normal RPG cliches. I must admit that, over 50 hours in, I have not yet finished the game, so perhaps it will pick up in hour 60, but what's th point of wasting a week of your life on an uninteresting game? This game is an amazing technical acheivement and is filled with ancillary detail like none other I've ever heard of, outside of Everquest. Technical proficiency and attention to minor detail, though, do not make up for an otherwise uninteresting game.
Rating: Summary: Great game--except.... Review: I agree that Morrowind is a great game. The gameworld is huge, the way you develop your character makes sense (i.e. the more you use a skill, the better you become at it), and you have a great deal of freedom not only in creating a custom character class, but also in making unique magical items and spells. The story is intriguing too, and you really get the sense that you're participating in events that are going to shake the Empire to its core. It does take a pretty robust system to run and, although I haven't had a lot of the technical problems other people posting here have mentioned, it does tend to lock up every now and again. All in all, however, it's a stable game and the system requirements really aren't outrageous, especially after you see just how detailed the gameworld is. The combat mechanics are fairly standard so I don't have any complaints there. The only problem I have with this game, in fact, is that the journal feature quite frankly sucks. You get a lot (and I mean LOT) of quests in Morrowind but keeping track of them is quite a chore. They don't automatically delete from your journal after you complete them which means you have to wade through tons of information on older quests to get to the one you're still working on and they don't give you any sort of index to them, meaning you've got to flip through your journal page by page to find that one little detail on that quest you're about to attempt. It wastes time and it's really annoying. Having gotten that off of my chest however, I can say this is definitely a great game and well worth buying. I just wish they would have spent a little more time making the journal feature more usable.
Rating: Summary: Morrowind Review: Morrowind is an excellent game for Elder Scrolls fans and those that are oblivious to the Elder Scrolls saga alike. If you are running a powerful computer you will be in awe of the vistas that this game will produce. I recommend this game for any die hard RPG player that has a lot of time of his/her hands, believe me you will need it due to the countless quests and "things" that you can do. Also when you get the game make sure to download the patch as soon as possible. When you download this patch it fixes some bugs and creates a heath meter for the enemies that you encounter. This helps you know what you are up against. Instead of blindly slashing at an enemy that happens to have an ungodly amount of HP. In addition the game comes with a construction kit. With this you can construct houses and dungeons, castles and forests then incorporate these products into your current game. But keep in mind that this construction kit may contain some spoilers, such as weapons and items, also the locations of certain cities, dungeons/crypts. But you can avoid that if you like. There are construction kit guides online that you can go to that will definitely help greatly. Buy this game you won't regret it!
Rating: Summary: Great game if you have lots of RAM Review: I would rate it 5 stars if it wasn't because of the system resource requirements. Great visual and game playing. I'm more used to the "turn-based" combat system, as used in Might and Magic, instead of the real time. I played all the latest MM games and finally gave it because it got really boring and keep getting no improvments (MM8 and later). It took me awhile to get used to the real-time combat system but (I guess) it is more "real". The graphic is unbelievable, the game space is huuuuuuge. You can be anything your hearts desire. Well, unlike MM, you can only be 1 person. Otherwise, it is very similar - quests, buy & sell, fighting, magic, etc. The downside - system resource. My 256MB RDRAM just isn't enough. I upgrade it to 512 and the game is running at a very respectable speed - i.e. it is fun to play. It still crashes after about 2 hours but I can live with that.
Rating: Summary: Lose yourself in this brilliant game Review: This is definitely the best RPG game around, taking over the mantle from Baldur's Gate II. It will seriously suck large chunks of your life away (prepare to lose friends, miss deadlines etc)...believe.
Anyway, I'm quite sure that the average person will be BLOWN AWAY by this intense expereience. Best value purchase you could possibly make.
Rating: Summary: 4 Stars... I'll tell you why Review: I bought this game last weekend. I opened the box, installed it... you know the drill. Got to character creation. Got my guy started, try to go through the door, and it crashes. Try it again, same results. I'm bummed. Then after two days of tinkering with my sound and video drivers, I got it to work. I was so happy. My character is now running across the countryside, very lost, but not caring too much... The graphics are awesome. The sound is sort of good... could be better. For all you EQers with 1 phone line and a top-of-the-line computer, this is the game for you. Unless you want the social part of EQ. can't help you much there. The ONLY reason I gave ES3: Morrowind four stars is because you need to do a lot of research and download a lot of drivers before it will work unless you are like the absolute computer wiz and know everything to download before hand and stuff. I'm having a great time with this game.
Rating: Summary: Sicknessss Review: Morrowind takes rpg's to an extreme new level of relism! Thiis game has relistic weather and can only be beet by the most skilled gamers.(Caution: only use if you have tons of free time!!
Rating: Summary: Great substitute for life Review: Tired of living your boring life as a slave to today's modern economy? Tired of getting dissed at school? Sick of watching the same biased newscasts? If so, allow Morrowind to whisk you away to a magical(yet tormented) land where you are free to do anything you want. Yes, just about anything. I have yet to find a game that allows for such complete freedom that, until now, could only be found late nights at your friends house rolling dice and arguing over who's character was more likely to get a girlfriend in real life. To be a little more serious, I was very impressed from the start by both the game's graphic detail and imaginative character development. You start off just like you would any initial gaming session of D&D, by choosing a character and his or her's attributes: selecting race, gender, skills, looks etc; which is a very nice feature. I mean, think about it, who would have ever chose a character that looked like Link, from the Legend of Zelda? Nothing says "intimidating hero" like green spandex! Anyways, now that I took the exit back off that tangent...once you select your character, you are introduced to your first sample of Vvardenfell: Seyda Neen. It is well set up with the beginning character in mind, filled with many lower level quests and challenges in order to break your RPG teeth on. Once you begin to feel comfortable with Morrowind's game controls and have a slight understanding of how the world works, you are ready to get on the road and begin the "main story". Wait a sec, let's talk weapons and magic. An RPG can have the best graphics known to man and excellent character development, but try selling a game that doesn't possess an impressive arsenal or complex magic systems, you might as well try to convince a four year old that eating their vegetables is a good idea, no one will be interested. Luckily, Morrowind has both: a killer selection of devastating weapons and the most intelligent and complex magic system seen in a while. But Bethesda didn't stop there, they said 'hey, why not combine our weapons and magic and why not offer our players bountiful options with which to play around with. Just about any spell your character knows can be used to augment your weapons or armor. Nice huh? Ok, back to the 'main story'. Ah, Balmora!!! Lovely city! This is where you actually start making your presence felt. It is filled with a myriad of interesting characters, places, and many guilds for the enterprising "Outlander" to take over. Yeah, that's what I'm talking about! Power! Respect! Ok, maybe not so much power (or respect either), but it's still cool to think you actually get to become the leader of guilds. Once you begin to go on quests, the world opens up to you. You are practically forced to explore this vast world in which you find yourself. Depending on where you go, what day it is and what time of the day it is...the weather changes: from ominous thunderstorms to overwhelming tempests of filth and enemies. It's crazy, and fun. Traveling can become redundant once you reach a higher level; but for starter characters, it can prove to be quite the time, both challenging and life threatening. Now go out and save the world. I played this game for 2 and a half months before I beat it. I could have beaten it sooner, but I became so engrossed in all of the other things that you can do that AREN'T part of saving the world from the evil Dagoth Ur and his plague. I have a feeling that many other people out there felt the same way. If you are a fan of fantasy books, RPG's or even just action/adventure games, check Morrowind out. I guarantee that it will be worth your time and money. Oh, and for all of you 'strategy guide' types out there; the official strategy guide to Morrowind is incredible. It is very easy to get lost in both the game's challenges and in the world itself, the strategy guide can literally save you hours. It will give you enough information to keep you on the right track, but not enough to ruin the game play or enjoyment.
Rating: Summary: problamactic and corrupted Review: when i first got this game i noticed that the graphics, sound, and over all game play were very well done, the graphics were smooth and steady. the first problem i had was the stuttering in the animations but that is not all that bad. after playing for a day i turned of the computer, the next day i started my computer and found to my utter shock that i could not play morrowind. it had corrupted all of its font files, sound files, and slowly started to corrupt many of my other files that had nothing to do with morrowind at all. i could not uninstall the game, nor could i delete the file it was in. after many hours of trying to get around it and remove it the only option i had was to reformat my entire hard-drive. this game is very problamatic and possibly dangerous to a computer. if you still wish to play crpg's i reccomend the baldurs gate series, icewind dale II, or even neverwinter nights, (which had bugs but not as bad). save you money for something better that is fun and will not corrupt your system.
Rating: Summary: An Addictive Game Worth Playing! Review: Marrowind is an x-box game that never ends. You have lots of characters to choose from and you can be whatever you want. A thief, scavenger, traveler, merchant, and thats only to name a few occupations you can be. This game's graphics are very good and it's very addictive to play! Me and my friends all love this game, and I'm sure you will too!
