Review: I was so happy when I heard they were making an oline FF game. Final Fantasy is my favorite type of game.... It's really cool, but like all online games, you have to pay a fee. You have to pay $12.95 a month, and and extra $1.00 to play tetra master (see FF IX). Despite that, this game rocks!

Summary: Action, Adventure, and done with Style
Review: I must begin this review with one word, Wow.
This game, after my extensive previews and looks and insights on the mechanics and workings, I find to be simply amazing.
The player will find himself in the largest known world ever made in a video game. In fact, this world is SO large, that it makes Morrowind's world look tiny.
Not only is this place insanely large, but it is also incredibly detailed and beautiful as well, no one in their right mind will ever bore from simply sight seeing.
I simply have never encountered such a wonder; crammed inside a remarkable game.
The PC version will entail a $50 retail, while the PS2 version will be double that, because of a bundled Hard Drive. The disc will never have to be used again though. Insanely large game, and insanely cool.
There is a one month trial period of this game, because it is entirely online. If the buyer loves it enough, he or she will submit his or herself to the monthly fee of $12.95.
I might add, however, that the money will be ENTIRELY worth it.
Expect an awesome game that will rival and may even become the next Evercrack... pardon me, I mean Everquest.

Summary: Two thumbs up!
Review: After I finished playing Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy X I thought to my self that there was absoultly no way they could outdone those games. Luckily I see that I was wrong. But this time I really think they can't do better. Let's hope I'm wrong. Well let's cut to the chase. This game is absolutly amazing after playing a couple of hours in the beta test over a friends house I was totally shocked I couldn't belive it. In this game you completely create your characters, is totally amazing. You can choose a career for your character, it can be from warrior to mage and from monk to black mage, and in some levels of the game you can convine them, funnily enough you can create a monk who is skilled also in black magic. In a vast continent you can create everything and join aparty and travel with them the vast world of Vana'Diel,along with that the graphics are amazing, as always in a FF game, and the opportunity to interact with other players like in the auctions where at least real human beings will rip you off and no some NPC(bloody scamers).Anyway pardon my language,i'm very ashamed, anyway as I was saying this game is totally amazing I am going to buy it as soon its abailable,you should do so your self.Pardon my spelling and horrography,I was never good at language arts

Summary: How I Feel About the Game.
Review: This game is awesome. Many people have put this game down, when they have barely scratched the surface. There is so much that you can do once you get past the first 10 lvls. Yes it does start off slow, but that is the way the game is designed. There is no ending to the game. You have a lot of options in this game, so don't put it down until you have at least recieved your sub job. As for making gil, you just have to pick a skill and stick to it, also sell your crystals and other items for the apropiate price at the Auction House. There is plenty of ways to make gil, stop whinning and look for them.

Summary: So you think video games are dumb...
Review: Well, let me tell you something. This has to be the most intelligent, involving, and deepest gaming experience I have ever had. This game cannot be played by idiots. It forces the player to use his or her intellect in order to think out the best strategy possible for their character. It is fully interactive in real time, and the other people you find in the game are actually other real time players like yourself! By this token, however, the game experience is a very dynamic one and may be considered a kid's game one minute and an adults the next due to some players' language (some players are very fond of using the "f" word for example). However, there are language filters so a concerned parent can edit that stuff out. What we have here is one of the most involving and creative things yet produced for the internet. It is much like Everquest, only it has superior polish, story, features and presentation. This is Final Fantasy taken to a whole new level and, being a long time fan of the series, I was blown away with how different this installment is. Change is a good thing, my friends. This is entertainment that, unlike television, is NOT PASSIVE. You do not sit there and watch this brainlessly. You must constantly be interacting, speaking with, and trading goods with your fellow players. Which brings me to the battles. Ah, the battles! It is epic. I am truly impressed. You pick your favorite job from all the old jobs offered in the series (example : Dragoon, Paladin, Bard, Red Mage, Monk etc.) and tailor this job to a specific race which you find fits your style. This is very dynamic and complex, and as such makes just about every group you join completely unique and different. You must utilize your unique job skill in a group full of other online players like yourself. It is awesome. This game has become the refuge for intelligent, imaginative people worldwide. In many ways, this has become my full time replacement for the mire and muck of American television. I am interacting, growing, planning, and building. This quite simply, rocks. Well worth the time. Television sucks compared to this!

Summary: Very mediocre compared with other MMORPGs
Review: The annoying features of this game start immediately when you first boot up the disks. After three registration codes and an "update" download that takes over an hour to download using broadband (!), you're in business. Well, if you want to call it that. The gameplay is confused and scattered. Not enough clear direction, no real record of what has happened, so that if you don't write things down, poof they are gone and there is no way to recall what someone said to you at all. It's pretty easy to wander around aimlessly in cities designed for the high-level Japanese PCs where you can only do window shopping because you can't afford a damned thing that they are selling. Get GILs with quests, you say? Sure, but good luck not getting killed with your subpar weapons and armor. And then, of course, you lose experience and your weapons and items, leaving you basically at wits end, reduced to begging other PCs to spare a few GILs so that you can buy another weapon. And don't think about trying to create another character if you get frustrated with the first one --- that will cost you extra, amigo! You pay for each character you create, in addition to the monthly fee for airtime! What a raw deal financially -- greedy, greedy, greedy. I mean $1 per character may not seem like much, but when you're paying $50 for the game to begin with and then $12 a month for access, you have to ask when will the greed end? The graphics? Okay, but I would have expected better. SWG has much better graphics than this. It looks like a console game, albeit a large one. The game world is certainly large -- that is true, but the graphic detail levels are adequate but disappointing. The same seems solitary and antisocial, there aren't groups easily formed, there is a cultural disconnect between the players in Asia and the players in North America. Frankly, bottom line -- in my view, it isn't really that much fun to play. When I play MMORPGs, I won't be spending too much time, if any, tooling around in this one. SWG and DAoC are both far more enjoyable, social MMORPGs than this one, and as a result a better use of the gamer's time.

Summary: The world is Square
Review: Square-Enix, in their most diabolically evil move to date, has taken their already addictive game elements from the FF and forged them together with that most vile of habits, MMORPGs. May god (or whatever diety they may pray to) have mercy on their souls. This game is the most comprehensive MMORPGs I have played, and I have played quite a few, DAoC, EQ, and T4C to name a few. The sheer variety of things to do is frankly mindboogling, and we are only 1 day away as of this review from a major expansion called Chains of Promathia which this site inexplicibly does not have availible for preorder. But I digress. This game will gobble every moment of your free time then belch and ask for more. Those looking for a challenge will find battles to be exciting and quite infuriating at times, with the imminent threat of death always waiting. To those of you who quake at the idea of leveling down I say this. There are worse options SE could have gone with, loss of money, loss of items, even loss of stats are all possibilties any MMORPG must consider as a deterent to being kamikaze. They have even thoughtfully included certain spells in game that can lower your exp loss to as little as 1%. Those who enjoy more domestic pursuits and/or ways to support their expendatures in game will find a wide array of skills, ranging from relatively undemanding skills like fishing, to more time consuming skills like goldsmithing. In short (as if those words have meaning at this point) go buy this game, enjoy it, and if you see a lvl 51 rdm by the name of Flintyoungblood, give me a tell to say hi.

THE ONLY THING THAT IS ERASED AFTER THIS PERIOD IS THE CHARACTERS YOU MADE. IF YOU WANT TO START AGAIN WITH NEW CHARACTERS, YOU MAY DO SO. IT IS..NOT..REQUIRED TO 'BUY THE GAME AGAIN' AS SO MANY OF YOU HAVE..FALSELY..STATED. UNDERSTAND THIS.<br /><br />I have been playing ffxi on and off for the last year, since the day it was released. It is a very engaging, brilliantly made MMORPG by square. I have put over 350+ hours into the game, and with no regret. Summary: Dont buy USED....!!
Review: I will keep this short and to the point FF11 is an amazing game---BUT---within the box you purchase is a registration code to register you online to play the game(unique to each game box)if you but this item from a person who says they tried and did not like or could not use due to ANY reason(slow cpu etc...) then they have ALREADY registered this registration code and therefore the game will be 100% USELESS to you. Playonline.com's policy is very clear, they will NOT help you with this problem as (right on top and bottom of box) it says, and i quote "not valid for purchase if opened. Not for resale by a prior owner." this is on the box because if they have used at ALL, then u will NOT be able to play, and you WILL have to buy another copy of the game. So please beware and make sure, if you buy used, it claims UNOPENED in the item description.

Summary: My view of FFXI...
Review: This game is absolutely huge! Being vast is a trademark of MMORPGs, however FFXI takes it to all new levels. There are literally hundreds of places to go - just with the original game, and each of the expansion packs (Chains of Promathia & Rise of the Zilart) add around 100 more.
Gameplay wise - it is slow-paced; but very decent. Battling can get repetitive; but it is very deep and gripping. Battling however; is far from all that this game has to offer...
There are many missions and quests available to complete. There is a unique and revolutionary system of trading, auctioning, purchasing, and money-making. There are other paths to take such as mining, harvesting, gardening, cooking, weaving, and more.
Graphically this game is very sound. Not mind-blowing, but definitely not disappointing. However, the opening FMV sequence for the game features incredible CGI.
There are 2 things that I am displeased about as far as this game is concerned. The 1st is the cost. Around 7 british pounds per month ($12.95), and 50p ($0.89) more for extra characters. It is understandable that Square-Enix requires plentiful funding to keep such a major project running, but these prices are a bit excessive. However if you get as addicted as me - it really doesn't matter.
The other problem I have with this game is the furstration when you die. Dying makes you lose quite a lot of experience points. This is especially bad if you do this often (which I have before). This has been the case when I have been too overzealous in my approach to the game - it requires patience to get reward; as I have learnt for myself.
1 final note - if you love MMORPGs then I don't see any reason why you will dislike this. However for Final Fantasy fans it may be a different story. I myself got it because it was a Final Fantasy and I love it, but be warned that this game is unlike any other in the FF series - which may well leave some players disappointed.
Overall - this game is great! 5 stars for fun, and 4 overall.
