Summary: Phenomenal
Review: I love video games. I love role playing video games and in my lifetime, Ive played alot of them. Throughout this time, I've always been unhappy with the Star Wars series of games. Don't get me wrong, I'm an afficiando of the films and love them dearly, but their games never quite pan out the way they should. If the graphics are great, the storyline sucks, and vice versa. Sometimes, neither is present.

In Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Bioware has nailed it. They have created a game with a storyline so immersive, I can't leave my seat in front of the PC until I've cracked whatever code I'm working on, as I need to know what happens to my party next. The choice of moving towards the light and saving the empire as a Jedi is quite a nice choice, though I've taken every step I can towards the dark side. The storyline changes around the character, which you rarely see. As I progress, people in cantinas and space ports wont deal with me, and I usually end up choking them with the force to get the info I need. I hear the game has a huge amount of story hours built into it, and in three days I've logged approximately 17 hours and I still have so much to see, and so many side quests to do. Each member of your party has a long quest which unravels slowly throughout the game. You can choose to help them all, or just ignore them, but I figure....why give up some nice exp and maybe a chance to get even more out of the stories.

All of this storyline unfolds and graphically it's quite impressive. The player models, from the Twi'leks to the Wookies are very well detailed, as is all of the surrounding area and uniforms. The FMV sequences are incredible, and the first time we went into hyperspace, I felt like I was Luke in the Millenium Falcon in "New Hope". Of course, being set a few millenia before the Star Wars films, there is no interaction with any characters that one would recognize.

This game has impressed me on many, many levels and I hope that Bioware continues to manufacture quality merchandise under the Star Wars banner, as they have hit the nail on the head with this one.

Summary: Best in Years
Review: It's been a long time since we've seen a truly amazing Star Wars game hit the PC. With Knights of the Old Republic, I've got to say it was worth the wait.

Install:

Holy moly, it takes up 4 gigs of hard drive space. Aside from that, install was pretty painless on my Intel/WinXP/ATI system. With recent drivers for my hardware, I was up and playing the game in no time at all.

Gameplay:

Gameplay took some getting used to, but once I became accustomed to the fight system, it won me over. Like any good game, it's easy to learn and difficult to master. You can play it real-time or pause between rounds to plan out a detailed strategy. I strongly suggest the latter, especially on the Difficult setting.

But as a wise old Jedi once said, there are alternatives to fighting. Stealth, puzzles, computer "slicing," the repair and reprogramming of droids, and smooth-talking can get you out of otherwise impossible situations.

Storyline:

Holy cow, now I see where those four gigabytes of disk space went. Dialogue, dialogue, and more dialogue. Surprisingly, it's more engrossing than either of the prequel movies! The characters have fluid and seamless interaction with the world around them.

Every situation and every conversation gives your main character a chance to move toward the light or dark side of the force. This influences (and possibly derails) the entire storyline and course of the game. I've stuck with the light for the first time through, but I can't wait to go back and replay from the Dark perspective.

Although there's a main storyline, there are tons of extra activities to keep you busy. Prize-fights in a duelling arena, gambling (the Panzaak card game is as addictive as Tetris in and of itself), side quests all provide endless hours of extra gameplay.

Overall:

If you like Star Wars, this game is an absolute must-have. If you like RPGs, this game is an absolute must-have. I hate to sound overly glowing, but this game is truly one of the best.

Summary: Great gameplay, good story
Review: Great gameplay with lots of plot twists in the story as well. This is by far one of the most entertaining games out there for an RPG.

Summary: Wait for the first (or second) patch
Review: Yes, this looks like it'll be a very fun game. HOWEVER...

Check out http://www.bioware.com (bioware)s website first and see what sort of problems there are. A good number of disks (possibly just in some shipments) seem to be defective, hanging at 93%. In addition, even with systems that *greatly* exceed the specs, there are horrible performance issues (low framerate, choppy gameplay, choppy sound.) This really disappoints me, as I've been waiting quite some time to play this (and can't stand the XBox - give me one free, and I'll trade it in.)

Give them time for a first or second patch before buying this, and as always, check the manufacturer's website (Bioware) to see what problems there are.

Review: less fun than reading geneaological accounts in the old testament - that being said, it has a great title name & the picture on the box is groovy...I recommend you just go look at the box, the fun ends there

Summary: A perfect mix of BioWare and LucasArts
Review: This great RPG for X-Box and PC is the perfect combining of two great games, BioWare's Morrowind and LucasArts' Jedi Knight. this game has a whole new storyline that takes place 4,000 years before Episode I. In the game, you can make many choices for your character: Gender (Male/Female), Class (Soldier/Scout/Scoundrel and later in game Jedi Guardian/Sentinel/Consular), Specialty weapons (Melee/Ranged), Side (Dark/Light). (Warning: spoilers) The game begins with your ship, the Endar Spire, crashing through the atmosphere of Taris, an outer-rim city world, as the Sith attack it. You must go through the Endar Spire with a teammate to rescue the Jedi Padawan, Bastila, who's Battle Meditation is the sole thing that can save the Republic. You and he get to the Bridge, and find she has already left. You go toward the escape pod, when a Dark Jedi attacks. Your friend takes his vibroblade against the Lightsaber and fights the Dark Jedi as you escape, with Carth Onasi, in an escape pod to the surface.

Review: This is Definitely one of the best RPG's ever, but THE best ever? Maybe. Baldur's Gate 2 and Fallout come to mind as up there with this one.

This game will be one that is played for years after it comes out, a game that people will talk about as one of the defining RPGS ever.

Oh, and as the best Star Wars game ever? Again, very close with the original Jedi Knight (Dark Forces II) in sheer quality.

Summary: I Can't Get Into the Game on the X-Box.
Review: I'll admit it I greatly prefer PC Games to console games. However, being a Star Wars fan and having numerous Star Wars X-box titles convinced me to buy one. I eagerly awaited this game but am a little disappointed. The game is getting great reviews, the graphics are good but I'm finding it boring. I literally struggle to stay awake when I playing. I think this may be due to my extreme dislike of console controls for RPG's. I'm not giving up on the game but I do think I will wait for the PC version to come out and give it another shot. If you don't mind console controls for RPG's, KoTOR should be a winner for you. Otherwise, wait for the PC version.

Review: I have no doubt that knights of the old republic is great its just that this game is not good for xbox. This game was made for pc and since the graphics will be better on pc I recomend waiting and buying this game on pc rather than xbox.

Summary: Game Play
Review: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic is by far the best role playing game i have ever owned or played. If you are one of those people who likes first person shooter games like i am don't get turned away from this game. Even though you don't control how often you attack your enemy it makes for more of a challenge when you are trying to build the best character that you can.

I've played alot of the role playing games Morrowing is the most recent of them and Knights of the Old Republic is by far the best as I said before. When I played Morrowing I never got into the game so it all seemed like a big waste of time. With Knights of the Old Republic I've gotten more into the story of this game than I have any other game out right now.

My favorite attribute to this game is the fact that you have complete control of whether you want to be good or bad, and everything that you do affects the game one way or another. Of course like any other game there are a few parts that have confused me and other parts that I just can't seem to live through. But that hasn't discouraged me from playing the game. I have almost completely beat the game now and I just can't wait for the ending. I hope it is rewarding because of all the time and effort that is put into the game.

Good Luck
-May the Force be with you
