Rating: Summary: unbelievable Review: Im a huge lotr fan and boy, was I going to like lotr more when I bought this game... This is the sickest most intense RTS game available...It may be a power hog but it is definitely worth uninstalling other games to make sure it works good. Now for the things I like about The Battle for Middle Earth....
>The graphics are phenomenal...almost as good as or better than ps2
>The character's voices are the same or similar to the real thing
>The amount of warriors you can get surpasses War of The Ring
>The heroes abilities and strengths are exceptional
>You can use the siege equipment like it was used in the movie
>You can place archers for the Free Peoples all over your camp walls
>When you use wargs and horses you can run over your enemies
>You can use creatures like Eagles,Balrogs,The Army of The Dead,
and Ents
>I could go on for hours...
Overall if you dont get this game, your missing out.
LOTR fan or not this game is good for anyone. I appreciate your reading this review.
Thanks
Rating: Summary: THIS GAME IS INSANE Review: ALRIGHT FIRST I WANT TO SAY THAT IF IT HAD BEN A POSIBILITY I WUD HAV PUT 500 STARS INSTED OF 5. SECOND, THIS GAME LOOKS SO AMAZING THET WEN I SAW THE TRAILER I PEED MY PANTS, AND THIRD I HAVENT EVEN PLAYED THE GAME AND I LUV IT SO MUCH IM GONNA BUY 50 COPIES JUS SO I CAN HANG THEM ON THE WALL AND STARE AT THEM.THAT SED, ILL GET INTO MY REVIEW.I HAVENT PLAYED THE GAME YET BUT IF THE GAME IS HALF AS GOOD AS THE TRAILERS IT WILL B INCREDIBLE.I MEEN NOBODY CAN SAY THET THE GRAPHICS IN THIS GAME ARENT THE BEST THEYVE EVER SEEN THRUTHFULLY. AND EVEN WITHOUT THE GREAT GRAPHICS THE GAME WILL B AWESOME. U CAN BLOW DOWN WALLS WITH THE FIERY BREATH OF THE MASSIVE, DEMONIC BALROG, U CAN CLIMB THE WALLS OF MINAS tIRITH IN A SIEGE TOWER, U CAN WATCH PEOPLE GET SWEPT UP BY LOW FLYING FEL BEASTS ONLY TO B DROPPED AGAIN FIVE HUNDRED FEET HIGER, U CAN EVEN WATCH UR SOLDIERS AS THEY BUILD A CAMP. THE DETAIL IS ALSO INCREDIBLE. INSTED OF WATCHING UR MEN RUN IN AND OUT OF A GOLD MINE LIKE IN WARCRAFT (ANOTHER GREAT FANTASY RTS) U CAN WATCH AN ORC BUTCHER WHISTLE AND CALL A BEAST UP INTO HIS SHOP. A FEW SECONDS LATER AND U SEE THE BUTCHER WALK OUT OF HIS SHOP AND HANG A SLAB OF MEET ON A HOOK. UR MEN EVEN CHEER WEN THEY WIN. THERE IS SO INCREDIBLY MUCH TO DESCRIBE BUT ITS 2 O CLOCK IN THE MORNING AND I WANT SUM SLEEP. IM NOT SUGGESTING IT, IM TELLING U THET U NEED TO GO TO GOOGLE SEARCH ENGINE AND TYPE IN THE BATTLE FOR MIDDLE EARTH. CLICK THE FIRST LINK THEN GO TO VIDEO CLIPS AND WATCH ALL SIX TRAILERS. I HOPE THIS WAS A HELPFUL REVIEW BUT EITHER WAY I JUS HAD TO TELL PPL ABOUT THOSE TRAILERS IM SO EXCITED I THINK IM GONNA DIE.
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable. should own its own part of heaven. Review: Battle for Middle is a definite must-get for all Lord of the Rings fans.I think best part of this game are the missions. I still haven't finished them all- I'm still working on the Black Gate- but I can definitly say that is one of the neatest RTS games I've played. Some of the missions are easy but there are a couple real hard ones to get through, especially Helm's Deep and Minas Tirith (those elephants are really difficult to kill. The first time I tried it, they wiped out my entire Rohirrim army).
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: I've benn watching this game for, probably a year and a-half, and I couldn't wait for it to come. Then I went to a friends house and saw it. This game has to be the best RTS I've played (or seen) in years. (and I've seen ALOT!) So, If your thinking about buying this one, I reccommend it over every other RTS out there.
Rating: Summary: Well this just works for Me Review: I've now been playing this game for about a month now and let me tell you, this game has struck a good nerve. I went out searching for other games in it's gerne you the names AOM - Roman Empire - and so on and so on. Well Age of empire was fun, but I found myself having to mico-manage alittle to much for my liking. Although fun at time, I just don't have the time to sit there and build farmer and hunter all day long. I did like the game play in Lord of the Rings (LOTR) You could just dive right in. The mapping is all eye candy, I enjoy the fact that the hereoes all can do different thing. I think there is just the right amount of different troops to choose from. The animation looks great. The sounds make you feel a part of the movie. He enjoy this game I know I do.
Rating: Summary: RTS King Review: If you have not seen the trailers, "Inside the Battle" clips, and the game demo at the official site, you might as well stop reading right now for you will not believe when I tell you how magnificent this game is.I want to start this review first by saying that the movies truly brought to life the fantastic books by Tolkien. Peter Jackson and Professor Tolkien are geniuses! The games created by EA Games (ROTK and TT) were beautifully created and threw the player into the movie in a tense, cliff-hanging action game. The new game they are about to release is stunning. To control hundreds or thousands of units at once is unbearable. But through the catupults and Fell Beasts, an expert RTS gamer would be in awe at the immense war game in front of the screen. You decide the battles and the outcome of the war. However, what difference is there from this and the other Real-time strategy games? Mark Skaggs and his team created is a mark in gaming history. A new generation of games has been created from this game based on the battles of the award-winning epic trilogy. The AI in this game act exactly like they would in real life. The Gondor knights cower in fear in front of the fierce cave-trolls. The gigantic Oliphaunts and Ents rampage in fear as they are set on fire. The Balrog triumphs in glory as it crushes the last Minas Tirith soldier in its flaming hand. All of this can be found in this game. Amazing! The fate of Middle-earth is entirely in your hands as you play with four different teams with their own unique abilities. Good luck and conquer your foes.
Rating: Summary: A must get? Review: OK, I'd like to start off saying that I haven't bought a PC game in well over a year. Just nothing out there that I would want. However, LOTR: BFME might just be a game that gets me to break my game buying hiatus. Well, there's a couple coming out between now and then that I may buy if I can afford to. But anyway, there's a few issues that I worry about with this game. Yes, the graphics are good, based on a up-dated version of the Command & Conquer: Generals engine, which is supposed to be able to support thousands of 3D animated troops on the field. But what about replayability? Being that this game is based on a 25 mission campaign as such, what will be the replay value? Will there be "skirimish modes"? Or once you're done with the campaign, you're done? Let's hope not. In fact, I'd like a random campaign generator that allows you to use the main Middle Earth strategic map to cruise around and fight your own battles. I wanna fight a battle at The Shire, darn it! Imagine an Urak-hai ransack of The Shire! Dead little Hobbitt'sis every where.... But anyway, this game, at least for its graphics and revolutionary RTS control features, should be a good addition to any RTS fan's collection.
Rating: Summary: 2D BATTLES... huh? Review: Sorry for being a stick in the mud but if I had seen this game running before I got it I probably would have just watched someone else play it. The big con to this game (that I was really looking forward to playing) is the fixed world camera with a tiny little tilt to the left or right that springs back the moment you release the key. Zooming in or out takes you somewhat closer to the fights but you cannot choose your action viewpoint meaning that TBFME is a very limited RTS ( I knew it was limited but didn't realize how much)... so much so, that it is nothing more than draw a big box around whatever group is present on the screen and right click on the enemy and then watch the battle
... but watch what? Amazing 2D fight sequences?... and I think you might just get my point here... -> The film is the better 2D fight sequences.
I am sorry but the fact that you could not rotate the camera just blew me away. It felt like playing R-Type Final or some other 2D platform shoot `em up. The extreme (and I mean extreme) lack of critical thinking in this game just makes it a very glorious looking bad game. It is not even a game when compared to any modern RTS. The best way of describing it is like a gawk-fest where you can literally sit back and just let the game run itself. I would not have minded that if I could actually choose an angle to gawk at the battles.
The best way of describing my disappointment is to imagine if the producers of this thing just recorded a demo of the whole game on DVD for you to watch.
Anyhow, all this depends on how much time you invest in games. If you are a fan of the movie, and do not play games, then maybe this will satisfy you. If you have any experience with RTS gaming and a pimpin' fast computer you have a right to know that you can not rotate or tilt the world. If I knew that then maybe this item would have got a far better rating.
I would love to have recommended it but sadly, I am a gamer and felt badly letdown by the lack of world controls. Something as simple as a 360 rotate with a 90-degree tilt would have made it five stars (even with the simplest of RTS controls). As I said, watching the film is better.
Rating: Summary: Great Game a 4.5 Review: This game has nice grahpics, even set at the lowest settings, and I have had no problems with video or sound. It plays just like a warcraft game...get resources, build buildings, make troops, attack, and defend. You have different troop types and heros to do battle with straight from the movies. The voiceovers by the actors who played Sauramon, and Gandalf add a very nice touch to the game. The only dissapointment I had was that I was hoping for a bit more control on a strategic level vs. all tactical and how many times do you have to kill Aragorn? The powers of the Evenstar for good and Sauron's powers in addition to troops are fantastic...just wait till you can summon a Balrog or the Ghost Army! If you liked warcraft....get it. If you liked Lord of the Rings....get it. If you liked both...you'll be in heaven, must get it.
Rating: Summary: A little left of heaven Review: This game is almost perfect with a few flaws. First and the most obvious is the pop cap. With good you can only have 150 and evil 300. This means you won't be seeing 200,000 orcs at Minas Tirith. Also Mordor is weaker, the orcs are not good. In the movies you see the orcs beating the crap out of the Gondorion Soldiers but here its the opposite. Thats about all the flaws, the good things are great graphics, great soundtracks, great battles. The voices and energy for the characters are great, same for the heroes, very smooth if you have a good computer, online is great... I could go on forever, anyway, if you get this, which you HAVE TO you will be playing forever.
