Rating: Summary: Disaster Review: Unfortunately I bought version 1.0 of this software a couple of years ago. It wiped out my hard drive, and Ontrack said they couldn't do anything about it. They did give me an updated version, 1.03, which does not work as advertised. Even after it says it has uninstalled a program I still find directories, files and registry entries. The main reason I bought this program was for the transport feature. Supposedly the transport feature will allow you to move a program from one computer to another without having the cd's, but it does not work. It says right in the manual that you can even move between the 9x and NT operating systems. But when I couldn't get it to work, and contacted tech support, they told me that in fact you can't move between these operating systems. Don't buy this product, it is useless.

Rating: Summary: Easy Uninstall 2.0 Review: Well, the other gentleman's experience was definitely different than mine, but I used ver 2.0. I bought it mostly to clean up registry crud, which it does very well, so I could increase the chances of a successful upgrade from Win95 to Win98SE (upgrade was flawless-no kidding). You "always" have the choice to remove items it's found, or leave them alone. Sometimes you have to do it more than once because an intial cleanup uncovers other things in a 2nd pass. Sometimes the uninstall does leave some folders and a few files, but I can find these. It's the registry items that a human can't find. I've done a couple of application transfers from Win98SE to WinME, all flawless. It can also monitor "installs", so you can "uninstall" an program instead of it's own "self-uninstaller" - they don't always delete everything either. This also has worked just great when I needed it. You can save a log of everything it does. It also displays drive/folder/subfolder sizes in graphical form so you can see who's taking up the most space, handy for rearranging applications. Sometime in the last 2 years it had been sold to v-com.com (but is still part of vcom's SystemSuite5, originally OntrackSystemSuite), then alladinsys.com (but now called SpringCleaning). Ontrack itself is now called Kroll Ontrack. Worked great for me.
