Summary: best ever
Review: Been playing c&c games since #1 and this is best ever.

Summary: Good but not Great
Review: Generals is moderately entertaining but it feels like I'm missing something. Unfair or not, the game will be compared to Warcraft3, Age of Mythology and of course the previous incarnations of C&C.

I only dabbled in Warcraft and was never drawn in the way many have been but I loved RA2 and Yuri and also have been exceedingly pleased with AOM. So what's the difference here?

Well - AOM, while switching to 3D didn't drastically alter the mechanics of playing - but - the game play was enhanced. A great amount of depth and variety was added and they didn't simply rely on a new graphics engine to make it, what I humbly believe, is the best RTS available.

Now Yuri and RA2 were pure fun. Generals seems to take itself a bit too seriously and while it is nowhere near a realistic war sim, it leans more in that direction. I find Generals to feel harder to control and I have less of a sense of how the units interact and counter one another.

I've played most of the single player mainly because I've had trouble getting the multiplayer to work well so maybe I'll discover more in the game later on. But the bottom line is that while graphics are great to have, the gameplay is the thing. If that wasn't the case, then Civ3 wouldn't have a chance - and it is still as addictive as it ever was.

And - I've also experienced some choppiness while playing and my system meets or exceeds the recommended system. AMD XP1900 w/GeForce4 Ti200 and 512 DDR PC2700 RAM. I would expect the game to run completely smoothly, but that hasn't been the case - at least not all the time.

Summary: Extremely Disappointing/Barely Playable
Review: EA Games has taken just about everything that made the previous C&C strategy games so appealing and completely destroyed it. Westwood never took the game so seriously, as EA has done, apparently trying to cash in on gamer's patriotism post 9-11 and recent goings-on in the Middle East. I found the final terrorist single player mission offensive as the objective being to destroy New York City. Yes, it's just a game, but where is the humor? Red Alert 2 featured "B" Grade acting in high quality video cut-scenes and the completely over-the-top plotline throughout was fantastic and a very enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, EA decided to go the ultra-realistic route, creating a very "graphically intensive" title (mind you, the only reason this game requires such a heavy graphics card is for the rediculous idea of rendering the entire game in 3D). This game is monotonous, tedious, and un-fun to the extreme. I'm going back to Yuri's Revenge.

Summary: The best....
Review: This is what computer games are all about - its fun, its addictive, it has endless replay...RA2 has become a world unto itself for good reason, there are a bunch of great sides to choose from, and they all have unique items to bring to the battle. The graphics are getting dated now - but they are sufficient - too fancy and you wind up with a train wreck like GENERALS...The online play is awsome (cept they need to work on keeping hackers OUT) and the add ons, map editors and downloads FANTASTIC...A MUST HAVE for strategy gamers who like it exiciting and challenging, but not so complicated you need a PHD and get bored after ten minutes like some other games (MOO3)

Summary: Good start...but bad finish
Review: I purchased this game as I love playing the C&C games. I was impressed with the graphics, but the storyline falls completely short of mediocre. The amount of CPU power needed to play this game is demanding, so only get this if you have a really good machine (more than a 2.4ghz) and a great Video Card. Overall, the game is o.k.; I would wait for the price to drop before buying.

Summary: Best game Ever
Review: I just bought this game and it is fantastic. The great gameplay makes up for the slightly narrow unit range. About that person who wrote the other review that said that the game was bad, I think that he has a slow computer and doesn't like the fact that playing the game takes him for ever.

Summary: AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Oh my gosh! This game is so cool. I just got it a few days ago and could not be more pleased. The graphics are incredible as well as the sound effects. I would like to stop the rumors that you need a relly fast computer to play. I have an 800 Mhz CPU with 256 MB of RAM and the game runs almost flawlessly. You do need to have a graphics card supporting DirectX 8.1 or higher though. I was a little skeptical about the changes in play from older versions, but they don't make it any less fun. This is a great buy for all players of strategy games.

Summary: great game after all.
Review: I think most of the reviews above don't do justice to this game. First of all it is in the tradition of C&C and as a C&C fan I can surly say it is as enjoyable as the previous games.
The graphics are excellent and more thought for details has been put here.
The three armies are versatile and unique and you will find many interesting feature for each. The concept of the generals themselves is clever, since you choose which way you want to develop your skills, thus each game differs in tactic and flow.
All the needed quick keys are there and more - this time you can place cameras in various areas on the map and jump to that area with a single click.
There are air combats, terrorists, and more and the various units allow you to create great situations and tactic moves.
The topography has an important role and if used wisely the game becomes even more interesting.
many bugs from the previous game were fixed (like flying units no longer need to "climb" cliffs, but rather fly over them like they should), but I must say that the path-finding is still a bit lousy :-)
The most important thing is the multiplayer games which make any C&C to a top game (campaign are just to get you into the atmosphere, but it is not the main thing in these kind of games).
GOOD GAME! buy it.
