Summary: Forget for other game !!
Review: When I play this game first game, I can't get out of my chair. It's so incredible and exciting everytime I played. This game can bring you into Spy like Tom in Mission Impossible. You are Sam Fisher the player controls. You must to hide from ememy that possible you can. If you kill anyone, you should to hide thier body coz' the other ememy can see it. Weapons and items are very high-technology. If you like something romance and fantasy, forget for this game. It's not suitable for you.

Summary: Sam Fisher Saves the Day
Review: Splinter Cell is an extraordinary gaming experience combining stealth, smarts, and action. Take on the role of Sam Fisher, a serious yet good natured lone-commando-meets-ninja as you strive to uncover and sabotage a plot to start a war. I won't go into details about the missions because I'd hate to spoil it for you, but they are all clever, innovative, and fun. And, dare I say it? Sam is sort of a hottie!

Pros:

Fabulous lighting. (Can be challenge to some systems.)
Different approaches available to reach a goal.
Easy controls.
Challenging in a way that makes you say "a-ha!" when you figure out how to accomplish something, even for the hackneyed gamer.

Cons:

Some bad guys take an unrealistic number of shots to kill.
Sometimes rotating Sam, a third person character, was a little awkward, but not enough to be more than only slightly noticeable.
A goofy bug on the stairs makes Sam look like he is walking on air.

I highly recommend this game and hope for a sequel. Maybe we'll see more of Sam in different, skimpier outfits to match his environment? Hey, it worked for Lara Croft!

Summary: Dont buy this game till you read this
Review: I've finished five of the missions in Splinter Cell, that's the larger half of the game, so I feel I can review the game from an informed perspective.

1. First; what I liked about the game-
The great graphics
The excellent attention to detail in the visual environments,
such as reflections off framed pictures, texture depth, character modeling etc...
It looks like a convincing world that you'd like to explore.

2. Second; what I dislike about the game-

The third person user interface, I'm sure this would be a much more immersive game if a first person option had been included, but they tell you that going in, so it's not a surprise.

The irritating voice-overs. The same ... lines delivered over and over in phony accents. This becomes truly annoying when your temporarily stymied at a tough part of a mission. I wonder if the game makers were confused on this game- is it supposed to be funny -(Like NOLF), or serious -(Like Ghost Recon). It isn't really either, and it should have been.

The worst combat I've ever seen outside of a turn-based role playing game. The enemy characters just stand still and Bang.. Bang.. Bang.. Bang.. Bang.. Bang.. Bang.. Bang.. until they run out of ammo or die. Interspersed with bad voice-overs. Truly ... combat AI.

The lack of simple things - like a knife, a decent map, a flshlight, binoculars, a first-aid kit, or a compass; it's really nice to have a compass when your controller says things like "go east"; EAST? It's really nice to have a knife in what is being sold as a "Stealth Action Redefined".
Duh. You're Sam Fisher, top covert field operative- too clueless to pack a knife, a pair of binoculars, a first-aid kit, or a compass. The lack of expected tools is overly contrived, senseless, and constantly irritating.
This guy is supposed to be a field spook- where's his gear? What spec-ops guys go on a mission without a knife, or a compass?
I pack better to go camping.

Then again you wont really need a compass, because you'll have all the mobility of a cow in a cattle chute. Theres no way to deviate from what the game designers intend for you to do. It might look like you can "Explore your world", but that's just a quickly dispelled illusion.

It's an overly scripted environment that forces you to do exactly what the programmers decided, in preciely the manner they wnat it done. No room for improvisation in this game.
About the only decision you actually get to make is whether you knock someone out, or simply shoot him.
Many times you wont have that choice either, since ammunition is apparently to expensive to waste on a mere National Security mission. What soldier goes into the field with no knife and little ammo?

The phoniness of Sam's vaunted moves. Sure he can climb up a pipe, but only if the programmers want you to climb that particular pipe. Other pipes, that appear identical, are NOT climable. The same holds true for ledges, railings, overhangs,etc.. It also holds true for other special Sam moves, like rappeling- be assured your rope will change lengths to keep you to the straight and narrow path decreed by the programmers.
Get down that chute Bossy!

You're Sam Fisher- off to save the world! Here's an inaccurate .22 caliber pistol and 20 rounds of ammunition- get down that chute Bossy!

If you like console games here's one on a PC.
It reminds me of an elaborate 3D scroller.

Summary: not so good after all
Review: i originall said that this game was an excellent game, but after playing the xbox version and the playstation 2 demo, i now know that this computer version is the gayest thing that can ever happen to the personal computer. i have to say that the only good thing about this game is that it is challenging, but in between the game jumping around with you graphics settings and the fact that the controls are kind of messed up, this is in actual fact a terrible game for the computer, because of the fact that it probably wont run as well as you want it to.

Summary: This game rocks!!!!!
Review: I have only played about an hour of this game and its definitely 10 times better than Metal Gear Solid. This graphics are so much more intense and this is what the PC market needs for an excellent style game. It says it needs an 1000 ghz computer with 64 MB Video and 256 MB RAM, and I would truely say that a computer like mine that has those requirements makes the game flawless. I would highly recommend this game and you are not going to waste your money! Go out and get this game you will not be disappointed.

Summary: Stealth Enhanced!!
Review: This game gives stealth a whole new level! I agree with most people this game makes you think, and look through the level a few times for medkits and ammo, the gun is used as a last resort though. I never run out of ammo since I knock most of them out by sneaking up on them. Listening to the people talking to each other can sometimes be hilarious! They sing whistle talk about their family. You can set up cameras, and put up wall mines and see the people fly! When the people see you then you hide, they say stuff like "oly, oly, oxen free" and "Come out and die" and [to his buddies]"He's over here" they say a lot more. You also have to hide the bodies or they will find them and pull the alarm, then you will have to rush for a dark spot and hide, if you don't you usually die. You also have to defuse bombs or wall mines in some missions. There are fifteen super realistic missions and you can download new ones from X-Box Live. I give this game a 10 and if I could I'd give it a 10,000,000! The graphics are 10, game play 10, and sound is 10, the best I've heard, Concept 9.9, Difficulty is medium. Overall AWSOME!!!!!

Summary: One hell of a game!
Review: Splinter Cell raises the bar for graphics, gameplay, voice work, and soundtrack! My only gripe is that the game is a bit short. If you have a top of the line graphics card, buy this game and see the future of gaming video!

Summary: All Sizzle, No Steak
Review: Since the games industry has become almost entirely graphics-focused, with [more] cookie-cutter games coming out every single day, perhaps I shouldn't be surprised that Splinter Cell is so underwhelming.

There's no need to discuss the graphics. They're great, but that's not the point. Buying games for graphics is like buying a book for its cover. You can only look at it for so long - eventually you're going to want to play it.

Splinter Cell fails because it is ridiculously linear, automated, and just not fun. Virtually everything is "push the action button and watch your character do a scripted event". It's like Dragon's Lair in 3D. It doesn't help that all of the interactions are stiff, robotic, slow, and tiresome to watch. Seeing a rogue agent creep over a handrail like a 70-year-old man while an enemy agent approaches is just [bad].

The combat is virtually nonexistent - you only get two guns, which you can rarely use. As a stealth agent you are supposed to sneak, bonk people over the head, and avoid detection. That would be fine if the environment weren't so static, the path so straightforward, and playing so unbelievably dull. Most missions rapidly devolve into "try, fail, quick load, try, fail, quick load" ad nauseum. ...P>And I don't understand the stealth model. Moving at anything faster than a creeping crawl allows the enemy to hear you even through stone walls and in pouring rain. So you spend the whole game creeping slowly from shadow pool to shadow pool. Some guy turns his back to you, it's a ... chore to catch up to him, and there's no leaping grab. So it's a matter of trial-and-error as you try to get the exact perfect spot to have the "grab character" action pop up.

Basically it's a gigantic obstacle course, but you don't even get the satisfaction of solving a puzzle in your own way. There's one solution, just about every time. And you have to keep banging away until you get it right. When you do, the payoff is nada - just the next load of the same [stuff].

Overall: ... repetitive, boring gameplay; stiff, slow controls and sluggish interactions; tiresome, repetitive environments. And what is up with the story? ...The cutscenes are interminable, and are best skipped. Thus there's no atmosphere, no believability, nothing drawing you into the game.

But it sure is shiny!

Summary: Puts the Console to Shame
Review: Splinter Cell is a finely polished game. Originally designed for the Console gamer, the controls for Splinter Cell will take some getting used to. However, with a few minor tweaks, the control works wonderful with a keyboard and mouse. The game is filled with many diverse mission types and multiple ways to solve each mission. The games main focus is stealth, and fulfills its purpose beautifully. If you were a fan of the Thief series by Looking Glass studios, this game accomplishes the same, and so much more. For creative and patient thinkiers, this game will satiate your pallete. And for those that get frustrated, the game does allow for blatant run and gun tactics. A well balanced and complete game.

Summary: Best selling point of the X-box
Review: This game is awesome. It single-handedly has made me a fan of the X-box. I was a PS2 owner until i decided to trade in the console and go for the X-box. This game has made it all worthwhile. The graphics, sound, gameplay are ridiculous. I felt like i had jumped from a 16 bit system after playing this game. Splinter Cell is revolutionary in its graphics. I have never seen a game like it as far as texture and lighting is concerned. The gameplay is smooth and allows for personal style as far as how you handle each situation. In many boards you can sneak around without detection or you can choose to just wipe out everyone and hide the bodies. It is hands down the BEST 3rd person game out there right now. And I used to be a loyal Metal Gear fan! But this game just set a new standard. I hope the PS2 version will be able to keep the integrity of the graphics and gameplay. Who knows? As far as the X-box is concerned, this is the reason the X-box was made.
