Summary: Asheron's Call + Dark Majesty
Review: I am one of the guys which can sit days for my computer and play a game if it is funny and interresting me. I am a player of Ascheron's Call since it was sold here in Germany and this game is so fun... =)
There are so much people which you can play with or you can fight against. My allegiance Lord of Destiny ( LoD ) is one of the biggest and greatest clans. I am very happy to play AC.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Top notch gaming
Review: Great world with more stuff to do than can do. Great for playing with family and friends when away from home(at schol or something). Evolving world, new adventures and changing landscapes. Can own houses in world.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Very fun and addictive, but still has problems.
Review: A note for new players: The Asheron's Call Dark Majesty expansion pack includes both the DM expansion and the original Asheron's Call, so there is no need to buy both. You only need to buy this expansion pack and you're all set.

There's no doubt that Asheron's Call is a fun, addictive, sometimes even awe-inspiring game. There are times when you just can't help stopping to watch the moon rise over the ocean or even stopping to admire another player's suit of matching Celdon armor. The Dark Majesty expansion has added many new features that have long been requested by the players: the ability to purchase houses, a new landmass to explore, a quest for an additional skill credit, quests for items that are both fun and useful (i.e. new mattekar robes), quests for experience points (including an Olthoi pincher that grants Three Million experience points), and the quest to defeat the Olthoi Queen. The amount of detail on some of the new objects is wonderful. The new feathered Siraluun dress is lovely and functional (even the men are wearing them), and the hollow spear is one of the nicest-looking weapons in the game. This expansion pack, together with the original AC, should have rated five stars, but it falls short for a few reasons.

1. Microsoft/The Zone. Simply put: poor customer service.

2. The new landmass, Marae Lassel, is too small. It's quite crowded there because, overall, the quests and items located on Marae Lassel are more lucrative than those found in other parts of Dereth. As you move from one area of Marae to another, the increase in danger is sudden. A few steps away from relatively low-level creatures like Timber Siraluuns are higher-level nightmares like Chaos Wisps and Virindi Executors. The lag on Marae is worse than it is in other parts of Dereth.

3. Housing. Many players are upset and frustrated because, at present, there are not nearly enough houses to meet demand. Obviously no one wants to see Dereth overrun with houses, but it's unfortunate that there aren't some sort of apartment complexes or something that could house a large number of players in a relatively small area.

4. Too little melee-oriented content. As with much of the rest of Dereth, Marae Lassel is mostly geared toward mages or archers/melees with a high degree of magic skill. A few creatures on Marae, like Armored Tuskers and Carenzi, are fine for melee players, but the majority of the creatures are still mage-oriented. The Kithless Siraluun, for example, has such a high regeneration rate that it regains health almost as fast as a melee can deal out damage.

Ahseron's Call is still a terrific game and one of the best, if not the best, MMORPGs on the market. With a little work, it could be almost perfect.

Summary: I thought AC: Dark Majesty was the best....
Review: until I bought Dark Age of Camelot! If you are a straight 90% of the time solo player stay with AC: Dark Majesty. But if you prefer to play in a group hunt format with guilds and skills other than fighting such as sword making, arrmor crafting, etc.with some solo hunting avaliable then DAoC is the game you want to buy!

Summary: Great Game, But ......... One problem
Review: AC/DM is a great game, new land to explore, new quest & weapons. You'll spend hour after hour playing this. All in all this game ROCKS !!, But, Housing :( If your not one of the lucking ones and found a house when AC/DM was first released. You'll have a very hard time finding one. (...) Since it came out I've been looking for a house (any house) with no luck. The only waty to get one is if one of your friends has one and is leaving AC. Or Trubine add more housing. Other then that THIS GAME ROCKS.

Summary: Turbine really got the expansion right
Review: The DARK MAJESTY expansion pack is everything one could hope that an expansion pack could be. New monsters, new dungeons, a new island, several first rate quests, housing, new items, new garments. The list of reasons to get this expansion is just overwhelming.

Before the expansion, many of my friends in the game (I play on HG and am a member of the Fight With Honor [FWH] fellowship) were experiencing some burn out and boredom with AC. Now, virtually everyone I know has had their interest in AC completely revitalized. Moreover, many players who had temporarily left to play Dark Age of Camelot, have returned instead to play AC: DM.

With the exception of the new Elari Wood bow, the developers got just about everything right (and there are indications that the bow will be fixed in future monthly updates). The quests are varied, numerous, and produce items that are highly desirable. They are also very funny. Just one example is the Crop that one can get off a character one has to defeat on the northern part of the new island. If you have the requisite staff level to be able to assemble the crop parts(easy for me with a base staff level of 343), you end up with a Crop that casts Discipline and Obedience. If you kill a character named Ralilrea, you get a figurine you can take to an extremely diminuative Hea with attitude who will reward you with a skill point when you hand in the figurine. But if you do a second figurine, he will call you a liar and teleport you to Dryreach! There are several new and superb monsters, as well as several new Olthoi types, including Brood Nobles and Eviscerators.

Although a lot of people love to complain about Turbine, I think most of us (with the exception of some archers) will agree that with this expansion pack, Turbine hit a home run.

Al-Bat, Level 87 Staffer, FWH Fellowship

Summary: want to get this game to upgrade to a house? dont bother!!!
Review: I ordered this game way back in august 2001 and sure enough Amazom had it delivered to me on the day of the release great Job Amazon!. Once installed I easily upgraded my Asheron's Call account (Now got extra copy for my second account)
Great new land mass to explore and some other good extras and if you like Asheron's Call your gunna love this add on :) I know I do already
If you have not played Asheron's Call and are thinking about it, well its a great highly addictive game BUT the major problem is you have to get used to Turbines way of thinking. For example they make it sound so easy to get hold of your own housing on all the packaging and in any advertisments.... The bottom line is with the housing, you probably wont get it unless your very lucky. They have designed the most underhand, backward and confrontational way of trying to get your own home so if you can stay online and ingame for 24/7 you might be lucky to get a house if not you wont :( . If your not worried about housing go get it it GREAT but if you do require housing be ready for a long wait and you may be dissapointed in the end. So If its a house you want dont bother it suxors.. POOR SHOW TURBINE VERY POOR SHOW INDEED ESPECIALLY AFTER ALL THE EXPECTATIONS YOU HAD US BELIEVE (...)

Summary: Asheron's Call Dark Majesty is a great game!!
Review: An absolutely beautiful island, fun to explore with challenging quests and a truly epic storyline. The best part about the game is that the developer, Turbine, adds new content and stories to the game each month.

There is truly no other game like this on the market today.

Summary: Dark Majesty - Pure Fun - Awesome Expansion
Review: Forget what the naysayers have said, there is nothing like the original. Asheron's Call is one of the best on line role playing games out there. They provide unique content each and every month. Sure there can be drawbacks but nothing that isn't associated with typical on-line gaming. Dark Majesty is A/C's first ever Expansion Pack which is bar none awesome. ...

Summary: Great Game with 3 drawbacks
Review: Pros: This game is the COOLEST online RPG ever made, and the expansion makes it better. For those of you who already have AC, this is worth the cost. If you buy a house u will no longer have any problem switching items from character to character. Plus, only people u put on your guest list will be allowed into your house. Also, AC can get pretty boring once u have finished all the quests. This game has a whole new variety of quests and monsters.
cons: this game is way too addictive. Time goes by very fast when u are playing.
There is sometimes downtime when u r not able able to play
THE WORST DRAWBACK OF ALL IS LAG. Lag is when u r not able to move in the game, due to too many people playing. If u r lagging in town, sometimes u will get kiked off. If u r hunting and u begin to lag, you can expect to be hunting for your corpse for the next 30 minutes or so.
-Celeborn, lvl 32 Archer, Harvestgain.
