Rating: Summary: The most fun on the net that I have found Review: My husband got me into the game over a year ago and she has played since beta on different servers.......I have never been one for the action packed role playing games.....this one changes every month by adding new stuff and is constantly changeing........grafics are great......they could be like AC2 but AC2 isnt as fun as this version......all my friends have come back to AC after trying AC2 (if that tells you anything)......I recommend this game to all for the fact that just as you get bored at the end of the month ........it changes!
Rating: Summary: I Never Recived It! Review: I would like to rate it but I never recived it.
Rating: Summary: How could this game only get 4 stars?? Review: If you haven't yet played this game and are worried about the 4 star rating, ignore the rating! This game is a 5 star game easily! Note that some of the ratings were made over a year ago and this game changes every month! I rarely experience lag, but I connect with high speed DSL. I have also played Ultima Online, (That game invented the term lag... This game has never ever lagged to the proportions of UO) The best part of ACDM, is the constant fun you have. It IS addictive, but in a FUN way, unlike Everquest which is the game you HATE while you are addicted to it. I mainly play solo and have a few great characters. If you buy this game go ahead and pal around in the beginning to get the basics of the game... but remember to do the math when hunting. How much experience per hour are you making? The masses are wrong! Don't follow the masses! That's all I will say about that ;) And when making your character template... Specialize Melee Defense and your weapon of choice. IE Archer. That's enough to make sure you can't gimp yourself too bad. Graphics are dated in most areas, but in no way inteferes with gameplay believe it or not.
Rating: Summary: So addicting I just bought another account Review: Since receiving this game as a gift in June 2002, I have entered into a whole new world of role playing. The game is never the same, you log off and the game world keeps going (just like real life will keep going while you're entranced within the game.) I definitely recommend this game for players that love group interaction and role playing. Not necessarily for the younger player, but they could enjoy the game too. There is diversity in experience, you can quest as a group earning points in fellowship or hunt alone. There is diverse terrain with ever-changing weather and shifts from night to day/dark to light. You can be an archer, sword slinger, axer, macer, mage (4 schools to choose from or combine) alchemist, tinker, even a cook among other things. I LOVE Asheron's Call Dark Majesty. I have heard it surpasses the original AC and still reigns over the newer Asheron's Call II. You wont need another game, ever, with monthly updates, new quests and such. I haven't gotten bored yet. Plus, you are playing with (and in the case of Darktide, against) other real life players, just like yourself. There is opportunity for social interaction along with some good wholesome monster bashing.
Rating: Summary: Better than ever Review: ACDM hasn't been reviewed in a while, so here's the updates on where this fantastic game stands now. Housing has become a lot more attainable since the introduction of apartments. At this point in time, there are still apartments available on many servers. {Apartments provide a 1-room space with a few hooks for hanging items and one chest for storage.}Monthly updates now include graphics updates in many cases, so while the graphics may not be up to par with some games, there is an effort to update them. But graphics aren't everything as many former AC2 players will tell you. The gameplay is still wonderful and more and more features are added every few months to enhance gameplay, such as spellbook sorting, new weapons, better damage mods, better armor, tinkering and tons of melee, missle and mana bonuses. They've done a lot of balancing for classtypes and unlike many MMPORPG's, Asheron's Call is geared to EVERY level of character and every type of player {solo fighters, fellowships, PvP, PvM, questers and even tradeskill characters}. There's so much going on in this game, I can't begin to cover it all in less than 1000 words. Asheron's Call Dark Majesty is better now than it ever was. There's a great mix of old and new players and a ton of different communities in and outside the game for constant up-to-the-minute information on everything from the lore in game to new and future updates and quests. If you're looking for a game that is truely engaging and will keep you hooked, this is it. Take it from someone who's been playing it avidly for over a year, AC is worth every penny {which you'll get back anyway, thanks to the rebate}! Come on in, Dereth is waiting!
Rating: Summary: Join us in Dereth! Review: AC is a few years old now, and thriving more than ever. This is not another bubble in the MMORPG market. AC is the real deal. It has been hugely praised by critics and is enjoyed by many hundreds of thousands of players worldwide. It has a much more flexible character creation system than its competitors. AC (and AC2) is still the ONLY game to get FREE monthly updates! Yes you don't need to buy a yearly expansion, you get a free game update every month for your $... (US). Enjoy new monsters, new wealth, new places to explore, new epic quests, EVERY month! This dynamic game features excellent monarchy and fellowship systems, allowing you to make friends easily. Should you prefer to play solo, there are no limits placed on you. AC's 3D graphics still look very nice, and are often updated. It is also possible to play without broadband internet or a 3D card(optionally). Turbine, the developer has a very open relationship with players, allowing your opinion to be heard. I have tried all the rest, I'm sticking with the BEST. AC is the BEST MMORPG to date! Won't you join us in Dereth?
Rating: Summary: Best MMORPG out Review: Simply put, I've played all the top MMORPGs and this is the best one out right now. I've played for years. Come join us in Dereth.
Rating: Summary: Addictive and fun, yet not for everyone Review: I've been playing Asheron's Call since December of 1999, and been having fun the whole time. While they call this an expansion pack, it's actually a complete copy. You don't need to buy the original Asheron's Call to install and use this. And if you already have Asheron's Call, all you really need from this pack is the code on the CD case... you've already downloaded all the files. The CD contains lots of extra information, including a synopsis of the events in Dereth (to the date of the release), and a besitary/glossary that tells you more about the creatures of Dereth, it's history, and it's turbulent geography. Asheron's Call is a social game; if you just want to play by yourself then I really recommend getting a stand-alone game. While it's quite possible to play all alone (and you will from time to time), what's the most fun is to fellow up with friends and go adventuring. Don't have friends who play? Be polite and friendly and you'll have some before you know it! My allegiance has even met several times in real life, and maintains a message board so we can chat outside of the game. I do not recommend this game for anyone under 15. While the majority of players are friendly and nice, a minority get joy out of picking on others, especially the young. While it's nothing you won't find in any high school anywhere, younger children may not be able to handle it. If you're worried about being too OLD, then stop. The youngest player I know of is seven, and plays under close supervision. The oldest player I know of is EIGHTY, and still going strong. Come join us in Dereth. Can't you hear Asheron calling you from that purple swirly thing over there?
Rating: Summary: Probably as addictive as drugs - - - Only MUCH safer. Review: This game is addictive from the moment you get into it. There is a good death penalty if you do die, and you can still get your stuff back afterwards, instead of all your stuff being open to anyone to just steal. The allegiance syatem is great, most patrons will always help vassals. The controls are easy to learn, and completely customizable. the battle system is simple, but you can use quite a bit of strategy in battles to maximize damage. Overall: it's great, and most players are not player killers, so you don't have to worry about someone jumping out and killing you for no reason. And who says running around killing stuff to level up doesn't have a good reason? The experience system is probably the best out of ANY MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game[s]). You can practice any craft to gain experience. There are two kinds of experience: The experience automatically distributed to the skill used, and extra, 'unassigned' experience to level up other skills. The way your character can evolve depends on how you spend their exp. You can choose one of a few pre-made starting guidlines, or create your character's stats from scratch using the points given to you. If you want a stealthy, theif or ninja type character who can run from battles easily, you can specilize in running, creature & player assess, and sword, dagger, or unarmed combat to begin your game. If you want to be a weapon of brute force, max out your starting strength and endurance so you'll do plenty of damage, and be able to withstand plenty yourself, and specialize in Melee defense, Magic Defense, and a strong weapon such as sword, mace, or axe to get through hordes of oncoming enemies. The possiblities are almost LIMITLESS! You can even choose to be able to kill other players by worshipping at certain altars in the game, but then other player killers can attack you, but it may be worth the treasure you can earn. There is no end to how you can play your character in the game! I hope to see ya in the game!
