Summary: More fun than you've ever had before.
Review: Allegiance was and still is a game unlike any other I had ever played before. when Microsoft stopped the servers I stopped playing since I thought that the game was dead (like so many other multi-player games these days) but I found the AllegianceHQ which was then moved to www.freeallegiance.org site and started playing again.

The community has now formed it's own development group to keep creating this game, there is technical support offered through a helpline forum, there is a training program for new players and there is even a server where new players can go to get a basic feel of flight control before heading out into the main servers.

The community has kept this game alive for 4 years without major donations or support from it's original creator and This is without a doubt one of the best games ever made period.

Summary: Allegiance Lives!
Review: Although Microsoft dropped most of its support for this amazing game, they did release the source code for it last year. In other words you can play it for free, no cd required. So there's really no point in buying the disk except for nostalgia purposes.

Meanwhile the community has taken it upon itself to host servers and develop mods to improve gameplay. Those who played a long time ago should check out what's been changed and new people are welcome to come and play the greatest RTS/FPS hybrid ever.

Summary: Beta Tester Review
Review: As a member of the beta 0 team, I have to take a sense of pride in what was accomplished. Allegiance if by far the best flight sim/strategy game/fighter out there.

This is a game for intense gamers and newbies alike. But be forewarned, it is not easy. The graphics are awesome, and the game really flies on a faster computer and cable modem, having the ability to max out even the most hard core gamers system resources.

The biggest thing to keep in mind before you make the leap into allegiance is this: Are you a team player? This game is not for rouges. A single person can, and often does, make or break a game. If you're ready for a detailed and in depth strategy action game, where the fate of the game can depend on how well you cover the fighter in front of you, where a careless assault on an enemy can devastate your team and cost you the game, then gear up, get ready and fly!

Summary: allegiance review
Review: i use a 33K modem via telephone lines, with a celeron 400 mhz chip on an asus p2bf motherboard with 256k dimm sdram pc100, a diamond viper V550 16MB videocard. i also have 2 voodoo 2 cards (monster2)sli'ed. my drivers are all generic. i gave up on the diamond drivers. my monitor is a viewsonic p815. i generally play tribes, and have been for about 1.5 years. this is the first game that has gotten me to forget about tribes. allegiance is a unique combination of excellent graphics, strategy and flight combat simulation. microsoft has managed to combine real time strategy with first person shooter by enabling one to do either in the same game. of course tribes did the same thing but tribes is mostly about infantry. in allegiance one is piloting or manning turrets on ships or being a strategist. i want to make two other points. the game plays great on the lousy connection to the internet i have to live with. mutiplayer online is fantastic. i have yet to use the 10 dollar a month microsoft special server. the interface to find servers (free) is very easy and there is always lots of action there. i really feel there is something for everyone in this game. in regards to negatives, i hate waiting for the escape pods to get back to the home base but i suppose it adds to the teamplay and strategy. i also would have made the manual that comes with the software a little more comprehensive but i am sure the fan sites will spring up with more hints and strategy than anyone could ever read. but until they do - i wish the manual was thicker. good hunting!

Summary: This is an amazing game!
Review: I wish I had discovered this game a year ago when it first came out. Microsoft's marketing really dropped the ball on this one.

This is probably one of the best games I've ever played. If you ever wanted to play Wing Commander or Descent: Freespace in a multiplayer environment where you have humans commanding the bases, capital ships, turrets, etc, this game is it. Allegiance successfully combines a space sim with RTS elements and the result is nothing short of spectacular.

And as an added bonus, version 1.0 is completely stable. There are apparently no patches for this game... a pretty rare accomplishment these days.

Summary: Best Game No One Ever Played
Review: Its a shame MS dropped this game. At one time it was 1,000's playing. But the game is still being played http://www.freeallegiance.org/. You need to check it out. Its free and we have a great time there.

Summary: This game is the best that I have ever played
Review: Microsoft Allegiance is an excellent game; in fact, in my opinion, the best game that Microsoft has made. Even better than MechWarrior 4. Unfortunately, since Microsoft isn't too greatful to it's beta testers, I'm not able to play the game anymore. I'm pretty sure that the other beta testers weren't to happy about this either. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to buy it, but it'll be well worth the money. (eBay will be where I get it from.) I would recommend this game to anyone and everyone!

Summary: Revolutionary
Review: This game is absolutely incredible. On one level it is a straightforward multiplayer spacesim, which has you pitted against one or more other teams with a variety of ships at your disposal, everything from a small weak scout ship, to devastating Capitol ships with several manned turrets and missiles capable of taking out entire bases.

On a totally seperate level, each side has a commander who has duties such as expanding your base into new solar systems, harvesting resources which can be spent on new technologies, new bases, or new ships (basic fighters are free, but everything from a heavy fighter to a bomber to a capitol ship requires funds). Additionally, there is a tactical view which allows for easy coordination of assaults and defences. These two components, real-time strategy and space simulation, are seamlessly integrated and leave opportunities for a gameplaying experience beyond any other.

The graphics are entirely functional, and it plays smoothly, with minimal lag. There are no longer Microsoft supported servers available, but rest assured that this game is still alive and well thanks to a very dedicated fan base. These servers are consistently populated, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding people to play with, and now that this game is largely in the hands of the fans, it is receiving updates and modifications beyond anything Microsoft was going to do. Allegiance has my whole-hearted recommendation.

Summary: INCREDIBLE!
Review: This game is incredible. There's strategy, action and teamwork. It may very well be the benchmark for online games in the future. It also doesn't require a lot of hardware to run. Very few bugs for an online game. I played on a team with 40 others against another 40 player team for four hours. We scouted, built bases, developed technology, ambushed, mined, destroyed bases (almost won), lost bases, launched massive attacks with massive ships, got ambushed and eventually staged a last stand against incredible odds. I'm addicted, just ask my wife. The government should step in and regulate this game. See you there, maybe...

Summary: "The Greatest Game You Never Played"
Review: This game is the absolute BOMB. It's a 3D first person cockpit online 58 player real time strategy space combat game (phew!). It is more fun than ANY game I have ever played. It is truly ground breaking and Microsoft had quite a true hit on their hands. The game is now completely free and controlled by the player community who still develop for it. 6 factions total now with more on the way! I may have tons of other PC games and all the consoles but I still play this game the most because nothing else even comes close. Check out http://www.allegiancehq.org/ to see the latest on what is happening with this game!
