Rating: Summary: great game. only a few days left till release now Review: I'm in the Beta 4 test and I love this game. Some bugs are still there like disappearing items once and a while but it really makes up for it. Some people have been saying that Clans is tougher and the best ppl will be on it but if you choose Neutral and both sides think you're against them, now THAT would be hard. I've played on both Omni and Clans and it's a great game.
Rating: Summary: A new generation of MMORPG Review: I played asheron's call for months, and some of my friends tried EQ. I've only been in beta of this for a few hours, but it has tons of potential. Many missions are generated at the time you recive them making them unique and unable to be camped. The story of the game is completly dependant on the people playing the game with the whole Clans Vs Omni thing, which should be a lot of fun when it gets released. I havn't explored every aspect of this game yet obviously, but if they fix a few of the bugs, and then continue to do semi-regular good updates, on a monthy basis or so, the retail version should be great.
Rating: Summary: Rating Neutral Because... Review: I think its silly for you to review something that isnt out of beta. Diablo II was the "EQ Killer" as well. AO is very nice, but saying that it is the "EQ Killer" and is a "5 Star" game based on a beta is not a fair and accurate review. Some games change drastically after release. I will agree that AO Looks extremely promising, and does have the potential, but saying its a "for sure" EQ killer is a silly review.
Rating: Summary: Game of The Century Review: This game is going to be one of the games of the year. It is basically a futuristic, multiplayer, action, with a little twist. You get to chose from two types of characters. One on the side of good, one on the side of evil. Depending who you chose, makes the game different. There are rebels and Omni-Tek. Omni-Tek=bad, Rebel=good. With the Omni-Tek you get good armor, and good weapons fast. But, you get ordered around until higher levels, when you can become a sargeant or a General. With the rebels, you don't get that good of armor fast, but you don't get bossed around. In the game, since these clans are so different, you can go to war with them. You set up plans, and then attack! How cool is that? Whoever said this game is bad, well...thats pretty silly.
Rating: Summary: Very Promising, definite EQ killer Review: After spending 7 horrendous months on Everquest, Anarachy Online looks to be a saving grace. A completely new, unexplored world awaits. The futuristic setting is very attractive, and, unlike Everquest, this game changes based on PLAYER decisions. Where Everquest falls short, this game prevails. And that is saying ALOT. I already see Everquest loyalists saying bad things about this game, mainly because they are afraid that their game is going to be wiped out by Anarchy Online. That may very well be so. I definitely call that an act of cowardice. It is best to try this game before you trash it. Everquest is a very dated game, and even the expansion that is coming out this winter, which promises to deliver a complete overhaul to the graphics and gameplay engine, it is still going to fall short. Anarchy Online is going to end in 4 years. It may be difficult to invest 4 years into a game like this. Personal lives will definitely be affected. However, I will not let this game do that to me. Everquest was very addictive, but i found that reality is more attractive than a fake online game. Nevertheless, Anarchy Online has many qualities that put it above EQ. The Player decisions will directly affect the game's outcome in 4 years. Game Masters, or GM's, will take the role of important In-Game characters, such as the leader of one of the many factions in the game, and assign certain players with outstanding records with tasks that range from espionage to all out assaults on enemy installations! The inclusion of in-game apartments are a very welcome change from the 'camping' system of Everquest. With your virtual apartment, you have a place to store your hard-earned items and cash, rather than having a very limited bank system as in EQ. There will be many social environments, such as bars and dance clubs where interaction with other players will be crucial and encouraged. There are many weapons to choose from, ranging from hand to hand to firearms. The futuristic setting looks gorgeous and the game is shaping up to be VERY promising. Watch out EQ, it looks like you're about to be kicked off your throne.
Rating: Summary: Not worth the time or money Review: I have loved some of the other MMORPGs that have come out including all three of the big ones, but i have alot of problems with this one, mostly because of mechanics. Camera angles are BAD. Player movement is BAD. and the whole game is too dark. Playing this was like playing EQ for the first time, but at least EQ got better, this never does.
Rating: Summary: The future of gaming Review: Anarchy Online is the future of Gaming, there is no doubt about it. I felt like writing a review because I have so much confidence in this game of being the best in its kind surpassing EQ, UO, and AC in all aspects. First of all this game is not all about killing and experience, ya if you want to be stronger and go on quests you will want to fight monsters but in this game you can just stay in your city and party. Dancing going to the bar is very cool and it will appeal to many players who are not into all that fighting and experience gaining. There is great variety in this game also by having many different faces and outfits to show off your creative self. I am going to pre-book this game for sure and I hope to see many of you online!! :)
Rating: Summary: Learning from mistakes Review: An honest caveat, my experience with the game is second hand. I will revisit my review after a few months of online game time, but my initial outlook is positive. I have written a couple of negative reviews about Everquest, currently one of the more popular online RPGs. Playing EQ, I felt like one of the old codgers pulling the arm of a slot machine for hours with a vacant look in my eyes. It was combat, sell loot, combat, sell loot, combat, sell loot. The creators of AO may have read similar complaints because they obviously incorporated some design balance. The enhanced focus on quests gives characters something other to do than kill, kill, kill, kill. A skills-based system also allows for greater flexibility and individualization of characters. It can be fun to play a character who race and attributes make him a poor choice for a particular line of work. The key to making a massive online RPG work is giving individual players the ability to craft unique characters. Who really wants to be the 9,001st dwarven warrior in an online game? I think AO will be successful, but the litmus test will be how they handle their success. Will they retreat to a programming Mount Olympus like the EQ developers or work with the online community to refine and improve a good product? We'll wait and see.
Rating: Summary: Game is good...but better buy the new releases and expasions Review: This game is excelent, i have been playing for about 3 years and of course sometimes we noticed some bugs and problems but a lot of them have been fixed by this time. Right now you can access to more expansion of this game and probably my advice is to buy those expasions, last one is Alien Invasion, which include AO Basic game or try to download online without expasion options.
Rating: Summary: Addictive and Engrossing Review: AO is a beautiful, detailed game of incredible complexity. It encompases the world of Rubi-Ka, a world colonized by humans because of the presence of "notum", a substance that allows a technology so advanced that it seems magical. On Rubi-Ka, you can play characters of one of four species of human, each with advantages and disadvantages. Your character can be one of many different professions: Soldier, Fixer, Enforcer, Martial-Artist, Meta Physicist, Nano-mage, etc. Gameplay allows for many activities (hunting, exploring the many cities and the countryside, doing static and character-specific missions) and, also, socializing with other players from around the world. The setting is absolutely gorgeous, with almost none of the annoying cartoonish features of many other MMPORGs. Rendering is nearly flawless. Many of the complaints seen in other reviews are now fixed. This is a game which the designers are constantly tweaking. The game is not nearly as buggy and prone to crash as it was in the beginning and now has many new, fun features. There are still frustrating aspects to the game, but what masterpiece is without flaws. It is so complex that many of the "problems" are caused by the fact that the limited number of developers are able to work on this many-layered world...sometimes there are unforseen and unintended consequences for the smallest "fix" or new feature. FUNCOM can be frustrating in their response to these problems, but they usually set them right in the long run. I have played hundreds of hours of this game for the past year. It is a thouroughly enjoyable and addictive passtime. I highly recommend it.
