Summary: An honest review
Review: I have never written a review before... but after seeing some of of the ones on this site, I thought it's important to give people an honest review.

First off, at it's current state, the game is frustrating at times and incredibly lagy. But, aside from the technical problems, the game itself is AWESOME and FUN. The graphics, sound/music are just amazing for an MMORPG. The character building is also great and realy flexible. I loved EQ except for the fact that it required sittings of at least 2 hrs (minimum) to get anywhere. With AO, i can pop in for 30 mins and just have fun. The customized mission builder is also realy cool. NO MORE CAMPING. In general the game is a lot of fun, no matter how much time you have to play.

I would give this game 5 stars if not for the technical problems that it's currently facing. In summary, this is a great game but if you're impatient wait another month before you buy it.

Summary: Poor product from an inept company
Review: Horrific quality control issues, lackluster customer service, and more bugs than a NYC flophouse. This is what awaits you in Rubi-Ka, the beautiful but inherently flawed world of Anarchy Online. The price for the game and it's monthy access fee is a smidge higher than the average MMOG rate, and just about all of those games will give you a much more stable and enjoyable bang for your buck. Funcom, the company which produced the game recently ruled it "playable" after acknowledging it's rocky launch. Playable, folks, includes the inability to enter buildings, falling through the art into invisible buildings, NPCs shooting at you through several walls and kicking you from across the room, frequent unexplained server downtimes, and many many more. As for Funcom - never in the history of MMOGs has a company been further geographically or emotionally from its core playerbase. Don't expect any customer service. Funcom reaches new heights in unprofessional customer relations.

Avoid. Please, avoid.

Summary: Potentially a great game
Review: I started playing AO two days after it was released. I expected there to be problems and indeed, there were problems. Server lag, zoning problems and being unable to log on are just a few of the major ones. Two weeks later, I must say there has been great improvement, but there is still much to be done.

The time I have been able to play has been great fun and I can imagine once all the bugs have been sorted out, this will be the best MMORPG out there. The world is expansive, the gameplay is fun, the characters are unique and there is going to be a storyline that promises to be intriguing.

If you are looking for an online game to play, I would suggest waiting a month or two before picking up AO, unless you want to deal with limited playing time and frustrating circumstances due to the bugs. Once FunCom gets things with this game straightened out, this game will keep me at my PC all day (and night!)

Summary: If you could only buy one game - DON'T BUY THIS ONE
Review: This game is not fun. Character creation is a joke (bad joke), the views are terrible. The games makes me want to go back and play UO some more. I wish I bought the Diablo Expansion Pack instead. What a [bad game]! For the.. [monthly] charge they should of had their stuff together. I can not express how disappointed I am with this game. I was so looking forward to playing a cool game. Guess I will have to try something else.... Hope I can return it... Anyone want to buy a used copy -..!

Summary: This was not ready for release.
Review: It has stunning graphics and some great game ideas. It is just to bad that it was released this early. Wait on this game, in a couple months it will be great.

Summary: Worst Massive multiplayer game ever
Review: This game is buggier than a roach motel. Horrible crashes and lag and most of the features do not work. Everytime funcom tries to patch the game they make it worse. The bad thing is they keep on telling everyone it is playable when it clearly is not. There are alot of people who want to cancel their account but funcom won't let anyone cancel them. Funcom seems to be a group of [copy cat] artists disguised as game programmers

Summary: I Had such high hopes
Review: I had been looking forward to this game for some time now and pre-ordered it some time ago. I must say that anarchy online in its current state that it is almost unplayable. I am not saying dont buy the game, i am simply saying wait untill they work out all the bugs before buying.

Summary: Much potential, but really an alpha version with a price tag
Review: This has the potential to be a very good game, lots of fresh ideas and approaches. however it is very obvious that FUNCOM released it while it was still in alpha, there are many play balance issues i have noticed ( i am an experienced ex-mudder) but even those pale in comparision to the horrible network problems, i.e. server side lag packet loss from 10 seconds to 45 seconds (i have lots lots of exp to lag kills, which in a monthly pay game is unacceptable because i have in essence wasted my time), a bad memory leak in the client that will reduce your hard drive to thrashing for memory after about 30 mins in a city, rendering the game unplayable until you restart it, lots of graphics problems, like walls disappearing, ATI card users having to log off then back on each time they zone to be able to see anything, HORRIBLE monster AI, they target u without being able to see you and [get] you through walls, a completely unresponsive GM team (except for Jewels, she? was nice and helpful as she? could be), the most recent server patch made things worse, can't even change zones now, can't enter a shop, a mission, go to another part of the city. i ended up wandering around aimlessly for an hour because i could not exit the area at all. then later i went through the zone barrier and didn't zone, got stuck on the other side and couldn't get back through, and of course there were no GMs that responded to my pleas to get me unstuck from their buggy code. lots of treasure chests have "unstrung" items in them, more proof of how unfinished the game is. i could go on and on. read anarchy online's official message board for more details. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, unless you enjoy paying [for it], then ..a [monthly fee] to be an alpha tester.

Summary: Great game, just a bit buggy
Review: As of 7/10/01 most of the major crash/lag bugs have been fixed, you can play for hours with not too much incident. You will still occasionally lag out, crash, and not be able to zone. But it is playable and a ton of fun.

The game itself is an evolution of the MMORPG. There is little downtime, every class is powerful, no one is a useless xp sucking gimp, the world is beautiful, huge variety of items, well balanced, etc etc. Very well done in that sense and stands taller than EverQuest et al here.

Awesome, cool game with a lot of great concepts. Just a few bugs left to work out, but a tremendous amount of them have been fixed. Really not too different from any other online game out there... EQ/UO had a ton of problems when they were released too.

Summary: Graphics great ...lag and disconnects make this unplayable
Review: Ok i was very excited to see something where i could play a MMORPG in a sci fi setting so i preordered it...BIG MISTAKE its been out since the 27th and the lag in cities is BAD i mean so bad my framerate was at 10fps and i could barely move...on top of that you can barely play outside of the newbie areas...trust me dont get this game till they fix it...read the forums about this game its pretty ... ... ...i normally dont say anything bad about something but for Funcom to say this is PLAYABLE? i think not...save your ... and wait for Starwars online or Dark age of Camelot
