Summary: Excellent! All better. Finally!
Review: This is a great game. They have finally knocked the worst bugs out and it is great. I played for 5 hours straight yesterday (a Sunday!) without any lag or any problems at all! You have waited long enough and the game is ready for playing!

Summary: MMORPG fetal stage
Review: Many people have been giving this game bad reveiwes becuase of technical problems, but what we all need to remember is that these are typically due to client side issues. I have been playing quite often and I have had few if any problems. I'm running a P- Celeron at 466 with a voodoo 3 card 16mb of mem. and 256 ram, I have some of the rendering options turned off, and I have had very few problems. Something a lot of people are not realizing is that this genre is in the relative fetal stage and that open beta cannot predict the problems of 1000 logged on users. The game has a great detting as well as good game play, and for those of us who are sick of the fantasy RPG, it is a refreshing twist. I urge people to try this game, at the very least, give it a shot and if you keep bombing out, then go from there.

Summary: The only review you should read....
Review: If you've been researching this game and reading the published web site reviews you've surely noticed the trend to mention the great potential this game has. Then the reviewers give the game a low score because of current bugs, etc. EverQuest is probably the single most successful game currently available. However, go back and read the reviews that popped up when it was first released. EQ was also plagued by bugs and connection issues and thus received a low score. Folks, when it comes to these monumental online games, it's impossible for an open Beta test to truly cover all the bases.

Let me be the first person to review on potential and not bugs and other issues that will surely go away in the near future. Anarchy Online is gorgeous! If you have the horsepower to crank up all the detail settings you are in for a real treat. The other night I stood atop a distant mountain range and watched thunderheads roll across the valley below, peppered with the flashes of lightning bolts. Yesterday I was treking across a desert with friends when a sandstorm swept its way across the dunes. The red clouds of dust and sand filled my screen with horizontal patterns while I endeavored to watch my compass and stay on course.

In many ways AO is simply EQ with a sci-fi twist. Anyone who's played EQ will find many gameplay and interface similarities. The gameplay makes use of "nano-technology". To make it simple for those coming from EQ, nanos=magic, nano-programs=spells, nono-technicians=wizards, etc.

Yes there are some bugs and connectivity problems. They've drastically improved recently and will only get better in the near future. As you read those other published reviews keep in mind what I've said here. If you're still unsure in regard to the bugs, etc...wait another month and dive in!

and the line you were waiting for....Anarchy Online completely blows EverQuest to kingdom come. Try it, you'll like it.

Summary: VERY Painful Experience
Review: Just to reiterate everyone else's experience: spontaneous crashes, lots of lag, big time bugs, poor graphics, and quite frankly - boring gameplay.

To top it all off - after the last crash I've had to REINSTALL Windows since it would not boot.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!

Summary: unable to play
Review: So far noone in the family has been able to review this game because it doesn't run on any system we have and registration doesn't recognize the code key. I waited several months after purchase for this game and never a mention of monthly fee to play. I am a Tribes and Tribes2 fan and expect bugs at initial release. So far no response to Email and no phone number listed to contact just to get another key code. Double BOOOOO so far on this long-awaited expensive, monthly fee game experience.

Linda
Addendum- I should have mentioned using PentiumIII1000 256 and GforceII. This is not the problem. Two weeks after emailing Tech support I received 2 generic computer generated response and no code key or any response that acknowleges that they read my email. Since this is such a common problem a separate customer support area could route these registration questions.

Summary: Buyer Beware
Review: Please be advised! Many of these games are shipping with CD keys that are invalid. To add insult to injury, Funcoms customer service is close to non-existant and it could take several weeks and access to a fax machine to resolve your problem. The official message boards are flooded with complaints and there hasn't been a single post from Funcom to give any help or advice or even the slightest whiff of anything resembling an appology for what is an absolutely stupid and totally avoidable mistake

Summary: It's just not there
Review: This game just isn't that fun. First of all: The graphics are the brown matter that belongs in toliets. I bought a brand new Geforce3 graphics card, and the graphics were still horrible, and I have a P3-850 with 1gig ram. After all of that, everything is still choppy and fuzzy at a supposedly 50 fps. Secondly: The gameplay is slow, done before, and drab. The only thing different is that you get to experience this with many many people.

Go buy Ultima Online, or EQ. Even if you wait for this game to get over the bug-ridden hill, the graphics and core gameplay are still horrible.

Hey, go buy a dog, and get a UDC obidence title on it; it'll take the same amount of time as getting a top level AO character, and you'll feel much more fulfilled.

Summary: This is going to be fun!
Review: I have just started playing this game over the weekend. After some initial crashes (due to my not having the latest video drivers) the game has ran VERY well. No crashes, no real lag. This game will be a tremendous amount of fun as I play it more. I am very busy and have found that even if you only get to play for a hour or two, you can still advance your character and have fun. You don't need to play for six hours at a time. This can make it fun even for the casual gamer.
